Natalia snorted at Bael's first reaction. "Am I boring you?" She asked in a tone that doesn't convey much interest in other's opinions. Then Bael tries to draw attention to himself by piping up with his questions. He asks a pretty standard question for newcomers. Natalia shrugged. "I don't count the moons. But, I've been here since I was some six moons old." She answered. Which meant at this point, she'd been in Deathclan most of her life. Though, it seemed like Bael was asking Laelia as well, which seemed rhetorical. It seemed obvious to her that Bael and Laelia were newcomers.
They lacked scent.
Then Natalia noticed Bael making maneuvers to plan for if Natalia's and Laelia's actions became, well... Violent. Given that Natalia had zero interest in a fight, she thought he didn't have as much reason to worry. As for Laelia.... Well, she couldn't speak for her. Barely knew anything, other than high probability of trust issues that is.
Natalia can see Laelia is making motions to conceal her inner thoughts and feelings. Natalia remembered in the past, when she'd been... Less receptive to others. Though, she could see Laelia didn't seem unresponsive to Bael. If she read the cards correctly, then Bael was the interesting one and she was the irritating one. To be fair, that was Natalia's general goal. Despite her moves to be less... Grumpy than as she had been in the past.... Old habits were hard to break. She found it hard to not adjust her behavioral patterns to irritate whoever was in reach. She herself had trust issues... That's possibly a part of why she felt comfortable in Deathclan. No sunshine, pro-everyone-is-friends beach balls of cats.
Natalia can see Laelia is trying to hide her irritation, amusement. But Natalia is looking very closely at Laelia, though it's hard to tell from her lax position, laying down on the tree, as if she's about to fall asleep. Most of her movement is from expressions and her tail swinging.
She keeps her tail swinging so as to reassure them she hasn't actually fallen asleep. Though, she supposes she could be swinging her tail in her sleep.
Anyways, she can see those slight glimpses of emotions sparkling in Laelia's eyes. Natalia wonders if she can annoy Laelia enough to emote properly. To be perfectly honest, she'd probably send the cat flying into a rage with the goal in mind, but did Laelia know how to climb trees? Maybe, maybe not.
But Natalia was older.
"My aim? Even if I had one, why would I tell you....?" She answered in the form of a question. She really hoped they were intelligent enough to pick up on her answering she had no aim, really.
Then Laelia says exactly what Natalia expects.
She tilts her head as she looks down at the younger cats.
"Though... I'd like to pose a similar question. Why are you here? Refuge? On a whim? Ambition....? As for the last one, I'm afraid you'd have older competition in your way."

It seemed that Natalia was the one who was being more annoying. It was in such a persistent way that made Bael think that she was purposefully trying to make the other feline mad. The male was more than a little worried. His gaze quickly flitted to his paws and then back up to the she-cats. Laelia seemed... calm? It was hard to read any emotions on the cat's face, but she didn't really seem angry. She might have been a bit annoyed, but she hid her emotions very well.
The answer to Bael's question came from both cats, although the question wasn't really surprising. Laelia was new and Natalia was an older member. They both fit the roll, with Natalia looking to be the oldest looking cat among them. She also seemed to be the most jaded. With the way she was lazing in the tree and the way she was goading Laelia, it seemed obvious to Bael that she was the one to be slightly wary of to start a fight. Then again Bael was having trouble gathering anything from Laelia so maybe she was just a little ball of rage that was well concealed.
For a moment it almost looks like Natalia has fallen asleep in the tree, buts soon she looks down at the younger cats and talks to the other she-cat before posing a question.
Bael pauses for a second as he looks up at Natalia then down to Laelia. Finally he shrugs. "I'm not here ta' amass a followin' I realize the stupidity in tryin'. In your words I'm here for refuge." He tells them. He doesn't mention what the refuge is from, but he figurs they don't need to know. Even telling them a simple thing like that is a lot, but Bael was never really one for keeping his entire personality and self closed off.

Laelia eyes the pair in silence, her emotions calmed now to nothing, and her mask perfectly in place yet almost unneeded other then to hide anything that might appear. Perhaps she hiepdes her emotions out of habit, or perhaps it truly is all that holds her together. Either way she looks calm and serene, non reactive to anything. Even her eyes no longer hold flickers of emotions like before, except possibly a slight hint of interest. Yet even that is hard to tell. She catches Natalia observing her from her perch. It's subtle, yet to a mistrustful cat such as Lae, it's hard to miss. Her ears twitch slightly in acknowledgement of this, yet she knows now all her emotions are concealed away from prying eyes, so she allows her to do as she will.
When the elder feline responds to her question, she isn't overly surprised by the answer. She wonders briefly if the other knows of what she is referring to, yet decides it matters none. She will clarify herself in her response. She can tell the other is trying to goad her, yet she finds herself uncaring of this now. Her flicker of irritation was just that, and now she merely finds it petty. And so she gives off no reaction, other than her verbal response, which follows a shrug of nonchalance. "Your aim concerning me is simply to either annoy, or even anger me. However, I'm afraid in this you will be left sorely disappointed." Her words ring true, for even now all reaction to her goading has dissipated to calm indifference and a clear disinterest.
When Natalia goes on to question both younger cats, Laelia awaits Bael's answer with interest. Refuge. She wonders briefly from what, yet knows well this is his own business, and none of her's. Though Natalia isn't asking much, she is still a little prying. Lae rolls her shoulders in another shrug and subtly tilts her head, peering up at the other female. If the other aims to annoy her, then she will give her nothing to use, for she holds no trust towards this cat. If it were just Bael, perhaps she might view differently, though for now she'll keep to herself. "My reasons are my own, much like yours to you. But if you must know, I am not here for any status or ambition, so I'm no competition to any."

Natalia considered her goals met, essentially. Neither cat seemed to prefer her. That was how she rolled. She stopped trying to curb it, but she also stopped trying too hard to scare other cats off. Now, she was the sort of cat you'd rather not be around. She imagined Laelia thought her petty. Bael, who knows. But they certainly were more interested in a conversation between themselves. Of course, no reason to not drive the nail in the coffin of any positive opinions they might have concerning her. The funny thing is.... Natalia still had generally low opinions of strangers. Sometimes they only way to go is up. Sometimes... They somehow breach the bottom and go even lower. Heh.
Natalia watches as Bael's gaze moves around. From her to Laelia. Then he shrugs and offers his answer. Not surprising. He seems like the type. Apparently he's looking for safety, a home. As long as he stays with the right cats, she imagines he'll get his wish. She's unsure where he means to obtain his refuge from. She doesn't imagine it's a cat, unless someone has history with Bael. Well. Time will tell and all that, right?
Natalia noticed her attempts at irritating Laelia have both failed and succeeded. Laelia does not appear irritated anymore, but Natalia imagines she's not winning any brownie points with the calm she-cat. Which is more or less what she was aiming for. Hm. She can see Laelia's ears twitch. Perhaps she can still see Natalia is rather attentive to the situation. She's always been a thinking, never stops thinking even for a moment. Perhaps she thinks too much at times, assuming how others think of her. Though, usually she's right. Usually they don't like her much. Not that she wants them to. Natalia is sure Laelia believes all her emotions are concealed... But it's difficult to fully hide. Cats are rarely able to suppress everything. Even then, masks can crack.
Natalia shrugs in response to Laelia's words. "I'm afraid I'm not disappointed at all, Laelia." She responds smoothly. Natalia is relaxed and appears lazier than she is. She wonders if Laelia will pick up on the meaning behind her words. Possibly, possibly not. It didn't matter much.
Then Laelia shrugs again and tilts her head, looking up at Natalia. Then she withholds her information. Natalia shrugs. "I thank you for your descriptive, open answer." Cue the sarcasm.
Then she hummed. "Hm... If you wish to avoid a fight... There are certain cats to avoid, even if you make efforts to not provoke others. There is a silvery she-cat with darker markings and striking yellow eyes. She goes by the name of Static, I believe. Apparently she jumps cats at random intervals. Another is a silvery blue-eyed tom named Michael. He seems rather... Disagreeable." She shrugs. "As for the other cats around here.... Try not to be too irritating and you should be set."

Bael just couldn't seem to get these cats to play nice. One was being snarky and then the other ignores it and then the other just tries harder. Bael's tail flicks slightly as he tries to think of a way to make them get along. At least for a few moments. He can't really think of any fantastic cure-all that might work in this situation. He sighs quietly. Perhaps he'll just have to deal with this type of banter.
When Bael states his reason for coming to Deathclan there seems to be a bit of curiosity about it from both cats. In varying degrees. Bael doesn't offer an explanation or plan on ever offering an explanation to anybody, but still his mind wanders to the cat he's seeking safety from. When he snaps back into listening to Laelia and Natalia he find Laelia to be explaining that she isn't planning on competing for status. Abel nods, almost as if he's approving of what she says.
Natalia begins to offer up descriptions of cats to avoid if you don't want to get into a fight and Bael tries to remember them as best he can. If they are fighters in Deathclan then they must be good at it. Fighting is one of Bael's weaker suits so he wants to avoid it, even in his own alliance. Static and Micheal, those were the two to avoid according to Natalia. Everybody else should be fine. Bael nods to show that he was in face listening to her.
"And what about you? Ya' haven't said why ya' came here in the first place." Bael questioned. He understood the want for privacy, so if she decided not to answer then he would understand, but she posed the question to them so he was going to throw it right back at her.

Lealia hadn't planned on partaking in their conversation. She hadn't planned on partaking in any, let alone a three way conversation with one nervy kid and one seemingly relaxed yet clearly wary feline who seems to have a thing for irritating others. She's not exactly doing a good job on Laelia, yet she seems to be upsetting Bael. Or perhaps they both are. He doesn't seem to like tense situations. Her attention flits to the tom, and she eyes him curiously as his tail twitches in clear discomfort. She more sees his sigh then hears it, yet she doesn't miss it, and finds herself wondering just why this situation bothers him so, and why he's still here if that's the case.
This cat is trying to read her, look for cracks, Laelia decides as she returns her attention to Natalia. She certainly seems more interested in this conversation than Lae. As the other speaks she shrugs fluidly, uncaring. "Matters none to me" She offers calmly, wondering whether she ought to just leave in order to pick up with her original plan of taking a nap somewhere quiet. She reads the meaning behind the words, yet cares little of it.
Hmm, sarcasm. An interesting pastime, perhaps. Laelia twitches her ears slightly at the slightly drawling tone, yet doesn't react. Sarcasm spreads to have no affect on her, it's not particularly interesting. Though she does wonder if her response annoyed the other feline. Perhaps she find out more than Laelia was willing to offer. Pity.
Laelia listens curiously to the descriptions, before dipping her head in acknowledgement. Static and Michael. She takes note of both names and descriptions, before getting to her paws in one fluid motion, clearly having lost interest in this whole thing. She didn't tend to enjoy small talk, and whilst the younger is interesting and probably easy to read and get information out of, Natalia has and 'off' sense about her, and is honestly not very interesting. If anything she's a bit of a bore, which is bad. A boring cat means she's less on her toes, less alert. Though she certainly is still alert, paying plenty of attention to both felines. She dips her head to each, tail swaying ever so slightly. "Well, I best be off. I hope you enjoy your days" She offers calmly, not bothering to force sincerity into her words. Mask still sealing her diluted emotions away from everyone - including herself - she turns and begins to walk back the way she came, hoping to make a bit of a detour and find somewhere peaceful.

Natalia notices that Bael is rather attentive to her warnings. Definitely conflict avoidant then. Either he was not looking for trouble or he was crap at fighting. Whichever the reason, she supposed it didn't matter much to her. Though, it seems Bael is rather supportive of Laelia's lack of political ambition. Hm. She wondered if Bael and Laelia would become yet another pair. To her, it appeared that she was only one of two pairs within Deathclan.
It would certainly be interesting if more were to crop up.
Natalia shrugged. "I came on a whim." She replied. She wasn't entirely sure why she came, so she supposed she didn't have an actual reason. Regardless, she never for a second nowadays regretted it. Perhaps she'd been indifferent in the beginning, but now Deathclan was her home. Home meant something. She found herself surprised she was attached to a place... But she supposed she was attached to Deathclan's... Well, she wasn't entirely sure how to explain it, but seeing as Deathclan was rooted in one place... She had an attachment to these lands.
Natalia shrugs as Laelia replies calmly. "Good on you, then." Came her reply. Honestly, she didn't care much for Laelia in return. She simply thought she'd try to get a read on Laelia. From what she could gather, Laelia was a cat refusing to show weakness to others, with an apparent disinterest in cats like her. Someone reserved with secrets, she'd imagined. Regardless, not her problem.
Natalia can see Laelia's ears twitching. She sees no other reaction. Perhaps she's bored and disappointed with Natalia's apparent lack of entertainment value. Oh well, too bad for the brat.
Then Laelia's takes her leave. "See you around, brat." She calls after Laelia, as she walks off. Then she yawned. "Anyways, I don't really have places to be, but I tire of this tree." She announced. Then she stood on her paws, and gracefully leapt from her perch, to the lower branches. Then she bounced off the lowest stable branch, onto the tree trunk, rebounded again onto the ground.
She shot Bael an empty smile with amusement in her eyes. "See you around, kid." Then she ran off to somewhere else.
