Mother enjoyed this cat, she even didn't the nickname that she had given the other cat to use, but still there was something wrong. As long as they could move and Mother didn't end up dead, then it didn't really matter what was wrong. It wasn't Mother's problem anyways. "Let's run for a while." Mother decided with a nod. She would probably end up walking after a while, but her mentor had made sure that she knew how to run for a long time, so Mother could do that.
So Mother took off into a run. Definitely not a full out sprint, but fast enough that the grass was almost like a whip if it hit her fit. She didn't look to see if Ari was follow. If the other she-cat decided that she wanted to leave she could do it. She did however speak to see who might respond. "Why don't you like my name? I know it's awful, but usually cats don't go as far as to give me a nickname." Mother stated, recalling the nickname Heather and then Singer. She kind of liked the idea of having a nickname.
[whoops sorry I forgot about this thread. I apologize that this is so very late.]

Ariana nodded with a smile that held an edge of honesty. She nodded in response, and followed after Singer in a run. She was able to keep pace with the other cat well. She was built primarily for stamina and speed, though her strength wasn't insignificant. Then Singer asked a question about the name she had, that Ari wasn't using in her head. She hesitated briefly, though to others it wouldn't seem like a hesitation, as her thoughts often operated like a whirlwind.
"Ah... If I'm being honest?" She gave a sheepish smile that revealed her nervous feelings more than any other expression she'd made thus far. "It sounds rather strange calling you Mother in my head." Plus, she didn't like thinking about her birth mother. It just led to painful thoughts that she didn't want to think about. Instead of sharing this, Ari gave another real reason, but one she imagined Singer would rather hear than her own pain. "It leads to rather inappropriate trains of thought, if you catch my drift."

Mother didn't notice the hesitation, but her ears did pick up on a change of tone that indicated something Mother didn't quite get. It had something to do with the strange feeling she had about the cat. The response made Mother smile. Perhaps that was the reason that her parents had named her so strangely. Maybe they wanted to isolate her from others from the first moment that they heard her name. She laughed as Ari finished off talking. "Ah, well I won't ask you about those inappropriate thoughts." Mother teased and winked at the other cat before speeding up slightly.
"I met a cat in the middle of a field." Mother began singing as she ran, still speeding up to see who would give up first, her or Ari. "She wore a scarf as if it were a shield, and her smile was there and her words were kind, but something wasn't right, something I couldn't find." Mother hopped over a large stone as she continued humming the tune from her half finished song. She wondered what Ari would think of it, as Mother was sure that the other cat wouldn't have too much trouble keeping up.

Ari gave a mischievous smile. "Best you don't." She agreed, her voice relaxing. It was hard for her to open up to others, but since Shira... It'd gotten easier to loosen up around strangers. It helped if they made good first impressions, like Singer had.
The song made her stumble a bit, though it was hardly noticeable. "A-Ah... Wow. That's... A really nice song!" She meowed, more or less masking her shock. It was a little jarring, the song feeling a bit too... Close. Not many could tell there was something... Off about her. She'd gotten used to most cats not being able to see past the faux-friendly facade.
