Snow was piled up a good foot or two in the prairie, leaving the ground cold and air frosty. The sky was usually cloudy, it seemingly too cold for even CloudClan to endure. Firebird, with her russet fur and moss green eyes, stood our horribly in the snow drifts. She was a flame among the white fields. The once great hunter, self thought, was suffering another long Leaf-Bare as FireClan's burden.
She jumped as the snow behind her cracked. Cautiously, the she-cat peered over her shoulder, but could not see who had made the sound. "H-hello?" she called, not seeing Amberflash's white fur camouflaged a good few feet away.

The only thing mildly acceptable about Leaf-bare was that it was more or less perfect camouflage for Amberflash. All other times of the year, her brilliant white pelt stood out against the vast green of the prairie. However... Now that everything was blindingly white basically, she was practically invisible. Though, the opposite seemed to hold true for many cats of Fireclan. Basically everyone who didn't have a silver or white pelt. Which was quite the amount... Like her son, several of her grandchildren. Though, she imagined cats like Hazelpaw, Frostedsky, and Stormsong would have mixed success. Foxclaw's mate, Firebird, stood out. A lot. She stared at the she-cat with fiery fur, who hadn't noticed her. Huh. She had met the she-cat. Once. When the younger cat had been a surprisingly non-bratty apprentice. Not that Amberflash had really seen at the time, given that she had kind of been in her extremely long jerk phase and rather stressed out from Foxclaw, who had been Foxpaw, being injured. She ended up taking a few steps forward and then Firebird called out. Her tail swung from side to side behind her. " I suppose I'm a bit invisible, aren't I? Only time of the year where I don't stick out like a full moon on a starless night." She snorted. " It's just me. Amberflash." ((WHERE DID THIS ABILITY TO ACTUALLY WRITE A DECENT POST COME FROM. usually this is where i accuse someone of witchcraft but its me?

WAIT I WAS ROlEPLAYING WITH FIREBIRD?!?!?!?!?!?
............................................................I. FORGOT.
Firebird nearly jumped out of her fur when she not only heard a reply to her question, but watched as a white figure that obviously was a ghost stepped closer to her. Alarm flittered across her moss-green gaze, a bristle in her fur in shock. CloudClan came for me already?!
It took a moment for Firebird to actually realize the 'ghost' was not at all translucent, clearly just stamped with snow-white fur instead. And the name was also certainly familiar. "O-oh, Amberflash?" It only took a few more seconds for the ginger she-cat to connect the dots on who this was. And then the fear left, replaced with surprise. "Oh-- Foxclaw's mentor! Of course, I'm so sorry I didn't see you there... you startled me though!" she meowed in a good-natured tone, coming closer to Amberflash. And I really thought she was a ghost? My, I'm certainly one paranoid she-cat these days!
"You really are invisible." Firebird laughed. "I didn't know what to think when someone replied to me, but no one was there." Well, not really true. I pretty much jumped on the 'spirit, freak out, run, too late' conclusion....

((I guess so lol))
Amberflash felt a little bad, seeing Firebird jump like she'd been caught doing something naughty. But it wasn't exactly her fault that she blended so well during Leaf-bare. She felt like her life was in extremes... Being completely unnoticeable and sticking out. By a lot.
She watched patiently, her tail swinging back and forth behind her as Firebird connected the dots on who she was. She nodded in response to the ginger she-cat finally remembering who the female senior warrior was. "It's fine. I'm basically invisible during these months." She reassured her. Then Firebird came closer in turn, it was a reasonable talking distance. Though, a few steps closer and Amberflash would start getting uncomfortable... She briefly wondered if that was weird. Ugh, all these moons had passed and she didn't feel like she was particularly socially gifted.
"Well, there was someone there." She laughed a little.
