Willowpaw licked her chest, feeling a little flustered in the face of warrior for having such unreasonable aspirations. "I just don't want them to hurt anyone else." She explained quickly, padding after her mentor, looking around the prairie and taking in all the scenery.

"Alright were here. Take a good look around. I'll make sure they didn't cross the border or change the markers." She meowed, before beginning to sniff around. Nothing seemed out of place, so she assumed everything was fine. Ashfire waited for Willowpaw to say something, or be ready to move on.

Willowpaw walked around, making sure to stay where she could still see Ashfire. She looked around to see if she could find any snakes, but there wasn't a scale in sight, it must be too cold for the sun-loving creature. "I don't really like this place." She commented. "Is there anywhere else? Or can we start training?"

"You're not the only one." Ashfire muttered. "Alright, let's head over to the training field, and we can get started on hunting and battle training." Ashfire said, before flicking her tail, signalling for the apprentice to follow. She hadn't trained someone in a while, so she had to get her mentoring memories freshened-up.

"Great!" Willowpaw wriggled eagerly, once again following her mentor. While she was more interested in battling, hunting sounded really fun, too. The idea of being a great hunter who helped to feed the clan was pretty appealing, of course. "What are we gonna do first? Hunting, or battling?"

"Which would you prefer to do first?" She asked, flicking her ear. The training field wasn't too far, and they made it there quickly. Ashfire sat down, and waited for a response from Willowpaw. Ashfire curled her short-furred tail around her paws. It was cold, but nothing she couldn't handle.

"Battle!" The next time Willowpaw got in a fight, she was going to be ready. Hopefully Ashfire was a good fighter, and even if she wasn't Willowpaw would find ways to train herself to perfection. The young apprentice waited eagerly for them to begin, her mismatched eyes shining brightly.

"Alright, Battle training it is. Now, we'll start off with a sparring match, and we'll go from there. Claws sheathed." Ashfire instructed. The grey warrior stood firm and tall, waiting for the silver tabby she-cat to attack her. She needed to remember to go easy on her, though. It wasn't an actual fight.

"Right." Willowpaw sheathed her claws, which may or may not have been out. Narrowing her ears, she dropped into a crouch, and with a wriggle of her haunches, immediately launched herself at her mentor, trying to bowl her over and pin her to the ground.

Ashfire was hit by Willowpaw, but she didn't pin her.. Ashfire was nearly twice her size. The grey she-cat leaped to the side, and swept at Willowpaw's forelegs, trying to knock her down in a swift blow. If Willowpaw fell, Ashfire would likely take advantage of the situation.

Willowpaw did her best, but was easily knocked over by Ashfire. Instead of simply trying to stand back up, though, she rolled away from her mentor before scrambling back to her paws, hoping that would put enough distance between them that she was safe from any incoming attacks.

Ashfire watched in amusement when her apprentice was affected by her sweep. Asfire simply sat down, and curled her sleek, short furred tail around her paws. "Alright, that's enough. Your form could be better. You wouldn't have fallen down so easily, even if the warrior was twice your size. I'll give you credit though, you did better in the first small spar than any of my other apprentices." She flicked her ear. "Are you familiar with the front paw blow, belly rake and headbutt moves?" She asked.

Willowpaw took in the criticism whole-heartedly, not feeling flustered with her poor attempt at fighting, after all, it was her first time fighting a full-fledged warrior. "Well, I haven't ever tried any of those moves." She admitted, picturing what they would look like in her head from Ashfire's descriptions. "But I bet I could do it! They don't sound too hard."

"I can demonstrate them. The front paw blow is quite simple, every cat subconsciously knows it when they're kits." She meowed, before demonstrating the move. She swatted at the air, claws outstretched. "Of course, when sparring with Clanmates, they're sheathed. You try." Ashfire meowed, flicking her tail.

"Right, okay.." Willowpaw made sure that her paws was sheathed, and walked forward, lifting a paw once she was in front of her mentor, and swiping her chest. She used quite a bit of force, wanting to be sure that in a real battle, her claws would go through fur and hit the skin.
