Eveningwhisper padded out of the warriors' den. She was put on the dawn patrol, so she couldn't do early morning training with Brightpaw. After taking a nice nap, she was ready to train her apprentice. The ginger tabby sat down and looked around the camp, trying to find Brightpaw. "Brightpaw? We're going to do training now!" She called, hoping the apprentice was around. Adaline

Brightpaw had carefully watched the camp entrance, waiting for her siblings to all leave camp with their mentors, before slipping into camp. She let out a sigh of relief. It was surprisingly hard work to continually avoid her siblings, though her luck had run short with Almondpaw when she'd met Birdheart... But other than that, she was doing great.
Then she heard Eveningwhisper call out for her. She walked over to the older she-cat and bowed her head. "I'm ready."

Eveningwhisper nodded, before glancing over at the fresh-kill pile. "We're going to do some hunting today. We're running critically low on prey right now. The hunting patrol was unsuccessful this morning. Hopefully, now that the sun's out, the prey will be a bit better." She explained. Maybe she'd even have the chance to go on a rabbit chase. The thrill of the hunt was that irresistible feeling for Eveningwhisper. "Let's go." She stood up, and began to make her way out of camp.

Brightpaw's eyes followed Eveningwhisper's to the less than great fresh-kill pile. She suppressed the urge to yawn, hoping Eveningwhisper wouldn't notice. She was... Somewhat tired. She didn't get much sleep. She never did really. It took its toll on her, even as she tried to soldier on.
"Alright." She took a deep breath before following after Eveningwhisper, shaking her head as she tried to stay alert.

"Try to pick up any scents to indicate if there's any prey around." She instructed. Of course, Eveningwhisper could do it herself, but Brightpaw needed some training, not Eveningwhisper. But she was doing it anyways, in case Brightpaw didn't pick up any scents.

Brightpaw lifted her nose to the air as they walked, in response to Eveningwhisper's instructions. It took her a few moments, but finally she lowered her nose again. She looked to her right somewhat. "Rabbit. That way." She replied quietly.

Rabbit! Her mouth watered and her paws itched for the chance to run. No. This is Brightpaw's rabbit chase, not mine. Eveningwhisper caught the scent right after. "Yeah. Have you chased a rabbit before?" She asked. If she hadn't, Eveningwhisper would have an excuse to have her first rabbit chase in a while.

Brightpaw was looking at Eveningwhisper strangely, seeing the older warrior come dangerously close to drooling, obviously over the rabbit scent. She nodded. ".... Yes." She answered. Given that her mentor hadn't trained her in this, it had taken some trial and error... But she could catch a rabbit. The things were skittish, so stalking it all the way didn't exactly work. She could get close, though.

Dang. Eveningwhisper flicked her ear. "Alright. The chase is yours." Eveningwhisper meowed. If she loses the rabbit, I'm going after it. She thought. She wasn't going to let the slightest chance of a chase to be lost.

Brightpaw didn't say anything in response as she quietly, and with some stealth followed after the rabbit scent trail. She didn't want to scare it away before she could get close. As soon as it came into sight, she went for full-on stalking. She closed the distance between herself and the rabbit, when its ears twitched. The tabby apprentice shot forward and there was a short chase. Then she had it in her claws and she snapped its neck. Then she picked it up by its neck in her jaws. She took a deep breath through her nose, in and out.

Eveningwhisper watched in disappointment when her apprentice caught the rabbit. She kept a smile on, and did her best happy act she could. "Great catch." She purred, before sniffing around for any other scents, praying she'd have the opportunity to get her own rabbit chase today. ||Feelsbadman||

((Ikr
Brightpaw didn't believe Eveningwhisper's smile for even a second. She rolled her eyes at her mentor, who seemed a tiny bit desperate to catch the scent of another rabbit. Given that the older warrior had been practically drooling before, she had a hard time believing she was fine with it. Plus, there was the slight forced nature of Eveningwhisper's smile. The tabby apprentice would swear she could smell her disappointment. She would make a smart comment, but her mouth was full of rabbit.

Eveningwhisper sniffed around very carefully, making sure she didn't miss any possible rabbit scent. She moved slowly when she caught a scent. It wasn't as fresh as Brightpaw's, but if there was the opportunity for a chase, she was in. She picked up her pace to a trot and followed the trail carefully, until the scent was more fresh. "This one's mine." She muttered under her breath, before crouching low, flicking her tail at Brightpaw, signalling her to stay put. She followed the trail in her hunter's crouch, in case she ran into it faster then she had expected. The beautiful sight of a rabbit ready for a chase almost made Eveningwhisper drool. The rabbit knew she was behind it now, and it bolted off. Eveningwhisper sprang after it, the thrill of the hunt surging through her bones. She was close enough, and leaped forward, and gripped it between her claws and bit it's neck. Thank you, CloudClan.

Brightpaw watched as Eveningwhisper was sniffing around, rolling her eyes at her mentor muttering under her breath. She watched as Eveningwhisper wandered off, signaling for the tabby apprentice to stay put. She rolled her eyes and her eyes drifted to see something shiny in the sky. It piqued her interest, so naturally she ended up following.
Soon enough, Brightpaw had wandered off. She wasn't even visible from her original position, being in a practically different part of Fireclan territory in almost no time at all, since the shiny thing had been rather far away from the get go. Thus, Brightpaw had bolted after it.

Eveningwhisper made her way back over to where she had left Brightpaw. Or at least where she had thought she had left her. Oh don't tell me she wandered off again! She flicked her ear in annoyance. She kept her rabbit gripped tightly in her jaws as she began to search around the territory for her apprentice. Sometimes, she couldn't wait for her to become a warrior so she wasn't such a burden. Eveningwhisper could turn her back for once second, and she'd be gone. Seriously if she keeps it up, she's cleaning every single den. Eveningwhisper kept sniffing the air to try and get the apprentice's scent trail, but her rabbit was blocking most of her sense of smell.
