Hazelclaw Hazelclaw blinked, assessments weren't really his strong point. Even though this daughter didn't really like him, he secretly hoped he did a good job. The tom got up and walked out of the warrior's den, and called into the apprentice's den, "Brightpaw? Assessment time," he mewed, A soon warrior.. already?

Brightpaw knew that her father was going to oversee her assessment today. As such, she made sure to pick the right time to enter camp, to cast as little suspicion over the fact that she wasn't in the apprentice's den. She... Still didn't particularly like Hazelclaw...
But she could fake being polite at the very least. She was getting better at it. She knew how she acted when she was content and at peace. She just needed to mimic that in order to fake it. It wasn't that hard.
Of course, she couldn't oversell it. That would be painfully obvious. She wasn't an idiot.
She strolled into camp, just in time to hear Hazelclaw's words. She lowered her ears, not quite all the way down. "Uh... Dad. I'm over here." She called out, her voice unsure.

Hazelclaw Hazelclaw blinked as he heard her voice.. behind him. The tabby turned around and spotted her, giving a small nod. "Alright, if you want, get some prey." The warrior thought for a second, "When you're ready, set out and catch any three pieces of prey and bring them back, then we can assess your battle skills."

Brightpaw sighed, one of her ears flicking to the side. It would be easily explained away as having to deal with her father, in reality she was glad he didn't ask any questions. Of course, she had an alternative answer prepared, but not having to answer at all was better.
".... Alright." She answered, her voice vaguely reluctant. She was a little tired, but she'd be fine. She had to be, if she wanted to pass her assessment. She walked off, heading back towards the camp entrance, passing through into the territory.
'He said three pieces of prey... Okay. Time to get focused.' She thought to herself. She lifted her nose to the air as she walked. Fortunately, there wasn't much debris in the prairie to cause excessive noise and scare prey away. Plus, she didn't have a particularly dark pelt... So she didn't stick out against the snowy plains. Soon enough, prey-scent hit her nose. She followed it and followed it to a mouse scurrying in the snow. Fireclan cats were known for their impressive speed, but that very speed was exclusively used to catch rabbits. Birds had the advantage of flight, being able to fly up and out of reach with ease. Voles and mice were incredibly sensitive, their reaction times too fast that honestly... It really was more trouble than it was worth to chase them down. Thus, she found herself quietly dropping into stalking stance, quietly approaching the mouse, then pouncing. The mouse was dead before it could squeak.
She pushed the snow out of the way, digging into the damp earth below, then dropping the mouse in the hole. Then she replaced the dirt and snow over it. She'd come back for it later, but she didn't particularly like the idea of leaving it there for some hawk to swipe.
Then she lifted her nose to the air again. Time to find something else to hunt for the clan.
She followed her nose to see... Nothing? She quietly bent down, and looked around. Then heard the faint crackling noise of someone's paw breaking undisturbed snow's surface. She turned her head gently to the direction of the noise, she narrowed her eyes. Darn rabbits, they were practically invisible against the snow, their white pelt blending in perfectly. She crept up slowly on the darned rodent, when its ears twitched. Brightpaw stopped for a fraction of a section before surging forward. There was a short chase, with the tabby apprentice about the have the rabbit in her claws. Then she lunged forward and caught the thing, with her swiftly snapping its fragile neck. She huffed over it. Once more, she dug through snow and dirt to create a hole to drop the rabbit into. She buried the rabbit underneath the earth and sighed.
Then she went in search of her final piece of prey. A short while later, there was a second rabbit dangling from her jaws. She backtracked to the sites of her previous successful kills, soon having the mouse and rabbit pair all in her possession. Of course, her whole assessment hadn't been one hundred percent successful. In between rabbits, a bird had escaped her claws. She'd slightly hesitated, due to her love of feathers and their beauty. She'd been nervous about ripping them off or tarnishing them with blood, and the small creature had escaped was little damage to its physical health.
Regardless... She had her three pieces of prey.
She brought them back to camp, and to Hazelclaw. She looked at him expectantly, her ear flicking to the side.

Hazelclaw Hazelclaw followed her almost immediately. He wasn't the best at being the quietest, but he could see fairly well. He followed quite far behind and watched her catch each prey. Once she finished, he tried to beat her to camp. Once she had gotten there he nodded, "Good, you did well. Next is battle," he mewed walking outside of the camp once again toward a training area, "You can drop those off and follow me."

Brightpaw had been somewhat aware of her father watching from afar, but she hadn't thought about it too much. It wasn't necessary. With new instructions, she nodded and moved to deposit her prey on the fresh-kill pile. After adding her fair share of prey to the pile, she followed after Hazelclaw, to the training area they'd arrived in. She adjusted her paws, bending her legs slightly to be ready to move, since they were about to move onto assessing her fighting skills. She didn't really spar with others much.... But she had done a lot of private practice in order to do what she could.
On a side note, she was looking forward to actually sleeping tonight, since she'd already done her hunting.
