The sun was starting to lower in the sky, though it was still bright out. Willowpaw was in the clearing she always trained in, stalking back and forth, her bi-colored eyes narrowed into slits. In her mind, she imagined a cat attacking her, or rather, her most loathed sister, Almondpaw. Willowpaw practiced fighting the imaginary cat, doing leaps, twists, and rolls, all with her claws unsheathed and teeth bared. Having no one to actually battle frustrated Willowpaw greatly, she needed to know whether or not her tactics would work in a real fight, luckily now that she was on more stable ground with Brightpaw, perhaps they could practice sparring.
By the time that Willowpaw was finished, her pelt was ruffled and dirty, and the sun was significantly lower in the sky. Taking time to gather her energy, she sat down, breathing in and out deeply and opening her mouth the scent the air.
It was then that she scented another cat nearby, and she immediately tensed up again, her eyes darting around her surroundings. She wondered if this cat was just passing through, or had been watching her. "Who's there?" Willowpaw called out snappishly. "Come out, show yourself!"
Oceanstar ((hey, are we still doing this? also, if it's alright, since so much has happened w/ willow the past few days, i'd like to rp this as current with everything that's going on))

- Apologies! I got swamped under and forgot. And yes of course that's fine! - Jackalstar had been walking past and as usual, decided to snoop when he found something interesting. He'd watched the apprentice for a short time, recognizing her as Willowpaw, though they'd never officially met. She didn't seem to have bad technique, but he couldn't quite remember who he had given her as a mentor. When she finally detected his presence he emerged and strode forward calmly, not too bothered by the fact that he'd been caught snooping.
"Impressive detection skills," he murmured instead with a nod, lying down in the centre of the clearing, completely unbothered. "What brings you out here alone Willowpaw? And so hostile, too. We're in Fireclan territory you know, no enemies here."

"Oh, Jackalstar." Willowpaw dipped her head respectively, but showed no signs of awe or reverence to the clan leader. On the other paw, she didn't try to challenge his authority like she'd seen some of her siblings did. Her siblings. Willowpaw didn't want to think about any of them, but it was looking like she would have to.
Willowpaw gave an unsure shrug, looking at the ground. "Thanks, but I'm not sure about that." It seemed that these days, there were nothing but enemies in this clan. "..Hey, do you wanna spar? I could use the practice." The silvery tabby changed the subject, her eyes gleaming at the idea of learning to fight from him. Her clan-mates wouldn't have a chance against her.

He accepted her greeting with a nod, a polite smile appearing on his face. "You noticed me, did you not?" Not that he had been attempting to hide from her, but it was commendable nonetheless. He'd met quite a few apprentices recently and they were all rather different, mostly in an interesting way, but not always. Sometimes it was just trouble.
"Spar?" Jackal repeated, already getting to his paws. It had been a long time since he'd sparred with an apprentice, it would probably be a nice change of pace. Definitely different to fighting a warrior, for sure. "I have a bit of time. Sure." He turned and paced a few steps away, sinking into a low position. 'Right, come at me."

Willowpaw didn't listen, using the time to think about how she'd start. She couldn't pin him down with sheer strength, and even then, it didn't guarantee that he couldn't hurt her. Perhaps she could use her agility to outspeed him, and eventually wear him down.
She made a mental note to keep her claws sheathed. By the time he'd finished speaking, Willowpaw hurled herself at him, paws out-stretched, aiming for his chest so that she could bowl him over, and even if she didn't end up on top, she could do some kind of damage.

Oceanstar's eyes remained steadily on Willowpaw's feet. He was curious to see if he could read her movements from her paw movements alone, without watching the rest of her. It wasn't an idea that he'd ever tried about, but a practice spar seemed the perfect time to try it out. There was really nothing wrong with trying and it wasn't like he'd care if he lost a practice spar; it meant nothing.
Wilowpaw's feet pushed forward and Oceanstar reaction, leaping back so that Willowpaw hit his chest with force, but not enough to bowl her over. He was a large tom and it would take a lot of force to accomplish such a feat, particularly from an apprentice as small as Willowpaw. He retaliated, making sure to pull his punches as it were, feinting a blow to her head before sweeping at her legs with his other paw, trying to trip her.

Willowpaw was in quite a bit of pain after her fights with Almond and Mudpaw, though she did her best not to show it. If this were a real enemy, they wouldn't show any mercy to her because she was hurt, and additionally, she wanted to impress her leader with the fighting skills she'd spent moon working on.
She braced herself for a hit to the head, only to be surprised by Oceanstar going for her paws. Nimbly, the smaller she-cat avoided being knocked over, and jumped back, this time trying to attack him from the side by darting sideways and scoring a sheathed paw along his flank, and then, using a trick she'd learned from her sister, tried to bite down on Oceanstar's tail, though lightly, as to sting and not bleed.
