WillowspiritCloudskip sighed as she strolled by the apprentices den. She had been asked to train yet another apprentice, and she accepted. She hadn't trained one in a while, and she was sort of excited. She paused and began to walk over towards the fresh-kill pile, sorting through it and pulling out a plump mouse. The white warrior simply sat there and waited for Willowpaw to wake up so they could begin training.

Willowpaw was eager to start training again, her mentor Ashfire had neglected her, and she'd more or less been left in the dust behind her fellow apprentices, even though she was old enough to be a warrior. She strode out of the apprentice's den, looking at her new mentor with shining eyes. "What are we going to do? Are we going to practice hunting, or fighting? I do both of those things on my own, but I'm not sure if I'm actually good enough at them." She rambled, summarizing her abilities.

Cloudskip immediately liked this kid. She liked their enthusiasm. "We should do hunting first, since that's more relevant than fighting some cat. Just grab something to eat and we can head out." She said, flicking her tail and taking a bite out of the mouse at her paws. She swallowed and added on. "If we have time, we might do some fighting training."

"Okay." Willowpaw nodded her head. "I caught a rabbit once, y'know." While Willowpaw was old enough to have a few catches under her paw by now, she also wasn't experienced and was completely willing to listen to another cat in order to better herself. She watched Cloudskip eat, waiting for her to finish so that they could head out. "I bet I could beat you in a fight, if we do practice battling."

Cloudskip chuckled. "It's a start, what did you do and we'll work from that." The she-cat hummed, and flicked her tail. She finished eating the mouse and stood up with it's remains in her jaws. "And you probably could, I'm as fragile as a twig when I fight." She smiled and wandered off to the entrance of camp, after tossing the mouse in some nearby bushes.

"You are?" Willowpaw frowned, padding after Cloudskip and into the territory. She refrained from making any more comments about Cloudskip's apparent lack of battle ability, she didn't want to sound snobby.
"So, what do you want me to catch?" Willowpaw opened her mouth, scenting the cold air. Leaf-bare was a hard time to hunt, but she was confident that she could at least do enough to impress her mentor.

Cloudskip blinked, and paused for a second for dramatics. "Catch an eagle. Dun dun duh...." She laughed, and quickly added. "Don't really, anything is fine." She lowered her ears, she paused again. "And yeah, but it makes up in offensive." She murmured quietly.

"Well, alright. Just give me a bit and I'll have enough prey to feed Fireclan." Willowpaw flicked her ears, and scented the air, padding off.
After a few minutes she found a sparrow pecking at the ground, and began to creep up on it.

Clouds watched the apprentice wander off, and slowly began to follow her. She wanted to see how Willowpaw hunted. The warrior didn't stick out too much, with the melting snow on the ground, but it wasn't impossible to be unnoticed. She noticed the apprentice creeping up on the sparrow, and watched in interest.

Willowpaw took each pawstep with caution, making sure that she didn't create a sound. Once she judged that she was close enough, she lowered herself, wriggled her haunches, and then jumped, catching the bird in her claws just as it was trying to fly off the ground.
She killed it with a single bite, and as the body grew limp, she paused, looking around for her mentor.

Cloudskip flicked her tail as she witnessed the killing of the sparrow. She nodded to herself and slowly walked up, wanting to be dramatic. "Good job, Willowpaw." She smiled, paused, and added. "But it wasn't the most perfect thing, if you can bury that sparrow, I can help on your hunting crouch and stuff."

Willowpaw took a few moments to dig a shallow hole, dropped the bird into it, and scuffed earth over the feathered animal. She looked back at Cloudskip, nodding her head. "I know I did something wrong, because it heard me and I almost didn't catch it." Willowpaw admitted her fault.

Cloudskip nodded at Willowpaw. "Yeah, and that resulted in a sort of sloppy kill. I'm glad you noticed that." She smiled, her long white fur getting tangled in the wind. "Anything else you caught about it?"

Willowpaw hesitated, trying to remember everything that she'd done wrong.
"..Did I make too much sound?" She'd try to be as quiet as possible, but just because she'd tried, didn't mean that she succeeded.

Cloudskip flicked her ears. "Just enough for the bird to notice, it might have been the snow." She replied, shuffling her paws. "Or the bird could just scent you by the wind, if birds even have a sense of smell." She laughed quietly to herself.
