CinderflameDuskrise had met Fallenstar, who'd seemed nice! That was one new cat met that he could cross off the list. Honestly, he wanted to meet all of them! He'd been anti-social for a bit, which was kind of... Sad, honestly. He wanted to see if he could make some new friends. Or cats that would be fine with his presence at the very least. Then he spotted the new deputy, Cinderflame he thought her name was, across the clearing. He put on a pleasant smile, not quite managing his wide, ear to ear grins quite yet, and walked up to her. " Hi! I'm Duskrise!"

Cinderflame was not that busy like as usual. The deputy was munching on a fish, a disgusted expression on her face. The deputy just hated the taste and scent of fish, it was just too fishy. Despite not liking it, the she-cat finished all of her meal and left no extras.
"I should go patrol the borders." Cinderflame muttered to herself before she spotted Duskrise. The tom seemed nice, he was smiling and showing no signs of being hostile. She hoped that this cat wouldn't be like Sunshadow. "Greetings."

Duskrise noticed Cinderflame was eating. Though, she seemed to be making faces. He tilted his head. "Do you not like fish?" He asked, innocent curiosity in his voice. He was pretty sure anyone who wasn't Iceclan tended to think fish were gross.
Personally, he thought it was refreshing. But then again... He was born in Iceclan, up in the mountains. He wasn't one of the younger Iceclan cats who were born in the barn.
((.... oh jeez I just realized Duskrise's account is like 2 years old))

Cinderflame stared at him for a long time. She didn't want to admit that she didn't like fish, one of IceClan's most common piece of prey. The black she-cat just shrugged. "I'm fine with it." She lied forcing herself to give a small smile. Cinderflame hated smiling, only happy cats smiled and she wasn't one of them.
The deputy then stood up and twitched her tail. "Have you been doing your duties."

Duskrise wasn't too sure about Cinderflame's answer... But he decided not to press. Her smile was strained, so he imagined she might not appreciate him pressing all too much. He didn't want to be an irritation. Then the deputy had stood up and posed... A strange question.
He blinked.
"You mean checking the borders and hunting? I've been hunting my share of prey like usual, but I haven't been asked on a border patrol since Iceclan returned to the mountains."

Cinderflame sighed in relief when he didn't ask anymore questions about the fish. Fish in her opinon were disgusting little creatures that IceClan just had to eat. If she ever had to eat a fish again, which was likely, Cinderflame would eat in not in the sight of her clanmates so they wouldn't see the faces she was making.
"Good, I expect that you do well in hunting. For borders, I'll have to send some out soon." That's one duty she had forgot about. Cinderflame was always busy hunting and bossing other cats around so she had forgot about the border patrols.

Duskrise blinked. "Oh, yeah. Since we're back we'll have to really check those borders, huh?" He wasn't sure if it was top priority... But he did realize that... Unfortunately, there was a possibility that the other clans had taken advantage of Iceclan's absence. He hoped not. He wasn't sure Iceclan needed more problems of that nature.

Cinderflame nodded. "We can't let the other clans think we are weak or they will try to steal our territory." The deputy murmured. "We have to show the clans that we are still strong despite the avalanche." Cinderflame hadn't been with IceClan when the avalanche had happened but she had heard about it of course.

Duskrise blinked. His ears folded back in memory of the avalanche. He'd... He'd been afraid he'd die for the first time in his life. He wasn't sure he would be able to ever let go of that fear. "... You really think they would?" He asked.

Cinderflame shrugged.
"Some of the clans are like that. I personally don't know any cats in the other clans that well but I know that if prey is scare, the leaders will be forced to attack other clans for territory." She spoke.
The black she-cat was often patrolling the borders herself so she could see if there wasn't any other angry cats lurking around. She expected them to take advantage of IceClan even though they might not win a battle against them.

Duskrise blinked. "Really? But if the borders are where they are now... They should be able to sustain each of the clans, even through Leaf-bare, right?" He couldn't help but think the best of people.

She just nodded.
"Sometimes things happen like the avalanche and the other clans have to steal territory in order to survive." She growled. 'No other cats will set take pawsteps onto our territory. IceClan is strong, we will be able to fight them off if they do.' The black she-cat thought before sighing

Duskrise noted that Cinderflame already felt deeply for Iceclan, even though she hadn't been here long. He frowned. He... Admittedly, had some doubts as to how genuine those feelings were.
"But the avalanche didn't affect the other clans... I don't think so at least. Why would they need our territory then?" He pressed. He sighed. "We shouldn't need to fight in the first place..."

Cinderflame sighed.
"There are other natural disasters other than an avalanche. There could had been flooding or fires." She muttered before looking at the camp exit. "I should go hunting."

Duskrise blinked. Personally... He thought that another clan suffering should be helped, but he decided to hold his tongue. He didn't want to antagonize the new deputy so... Early. "You know, you can relax a little. It'll be better for you and the clan." He advised.
