"Alright." Swanpaw grumbled, forcing herself to calm down. She supposed he was right, after all. Smaller prey would be easier to catch. Hopefully. Swanpaw was startled by the sudden question, assuming that he had found something. She desperately tried to catch a whiff of prey, opening her mouth slightly. Vole. "Yeah, I think a vole." She nodded her head lightly, crouching down. She had managed to use the crouch quite affectively, and quickly remembered to keep her tail low. Painfully slowly she stalked forward, her paws lightly scraping the ground. Once the vole was in sight she paused, haunches wiggling lightly. Its head turned as it caught sight of her and she hesitated, watching as it took off. She scrambled after it, slamming her paw down on its body. It wriggled underneath her before she bit its neck roughly, resulting in a sloppy kill.

Stormfrost winced and closed his eyes for a moment. Slowly, he opened one after the other again to find that Swanpaw had in fact caught the vole. With a small sigh of relief he looked around again before looking back at his apprentice. "So... that could have been better. Don't worry, you'll get there. Let's try again okay? This time don't be so hesitant as to refrain from leaping out at the prey. You're bigger than it... but I can understand first time hunting jitters if that's what's up." He paused and looked around, sniffing the air. "Well... let's try another one shall we? What do you smell this time? Also, go catch it."
(it can be whatever you want. After this if you'd like I can make your assessment thread)

Swanpaw flattened her large ears against her head sheepishly. "I know, sorry." She grumbled, dropping the bloody prey at his paws. She quickly obeyed, sniffing the air slowly. She wandered further out, assuming her mentor would follow her. After a few dreadfully long moments of nothing she caught the scent of.... Rabbit, was it? She wasn't so sure if that was something she wanted to catch. Sure, they tasted good, but they were fast little buggers. Despite this she moved forward anyway in her hunters crouch, catching sight of the scrawny thing. Better than nothing. This time, before her prey could spot her, she dashed forward. It didn't have time to take off in its surprise and she managed to grab a hold of it, quickly biting down on its neck with a crunch. She turned around to face her mentor with a proud glint in her eyes. (Yeah, sounds good. Do I need to make a cleaning thread before or after that?)

Stormfrost gave a look of pride at his apprentice. He was glad she managed to catch this piece of prey without the same difficulty of the previous. And a rabbit too! He liked rabbits and thought they were a rare treat. "Great job! Now go clean any den you'd like. Then tomorrow we will do your final assessment! I'll help you carry the prey back if you'd like." He didn't really wait for a response, but picked up a piece of prey regardless, and started to walk back towards camp.
(you can make a cleaning thread whenever you deem fit. Then send me the link in a pm or tag me)

She wrinkled her nose at the thought of cleaning a den, but nodded anyways. Carrying back a piece of prey she felt more nervous than she ever had before. If she failed her assessment then what? Shaking the thought from her mind. She followed after him with big dreams and low hopes, her strides doubled to keep up with him.. -End of thread I think-
