Silverwhisker Silverwhisker woke up, very early. She realized she woke up from rolling off of her nest, and unfortunately on top of a thorn. She spent time taking it out, knowing that this early, especially when half the warriors were still sleeping, wasn't a good time to train. After waiting as soon as the thorn was out, she decided it was time to call yet another apprentice. "Berylpaw, let's go," she called quietly, half way into the apprentices' den.

Berylpaw knew that sooner or later he would have to do a one on one training session, but he dreaded that moment. One the first training session with the other two apprentices he was able to make as little of an impact as possible, but now he would actually have to do something. Thus, his already irregular sleep schedule, had gotten even worse at the thought of his upcoming training session. He was awake when he heard his name called and he flinched at the sound. Still he rose to his paws, shook out his fur, and made his way over to Silverwhisker.
If it were up to him he would stay as a kit forever and never leave the camp, but he knew that wasn't a possibility and he'd have to face his numerous fears sometime. Training was one of them, fighting was one of them, the territory was one of them, and now he had to face at least two of those fears in the next few moments. He nodded his head in a silent greeting to his mentor instead of speaking and prayed to cloudclan that everything would go smoothly and he wouldn't die in some freak accident.

Silverwhisker Silverwhisker didn't have the best time with finding the true personalities with each apprentice. The tabby realized the lack of noise, and didn't really put it up too much. "I hope you're ready, if you want take a snack, I think hunting would be best for today."

Berylpaw let out a silent sigh of relief at the idea of going hunting instead of having fighting training. Hunting he could do, maybe, as long as nothing bad happened. Sure he wasn't exactly calm, but he was better. He quickly gobbled down a mouse and then nodded to Silverwhisker to show that he was ready to go. As he waited to move out he couldn't help the tip of his tail twitching. He figured that as long as he learned well enough she wouldn't notice or mind how nervous he was.

Silverwhisker Silver gave him a slow blink before nodding. "Do you know anything about hunting, yet?" she asked as she walked outside of the camp. The tabby walked to a place she usually didn't train apprentices, but she always thought it had the best chance of prey.

Berylpaw considered the question as he stuck close by her side while they entered the territory. "Um... not a lot. Catch the prey, I guess." He offered in a voice barely above a whisper. Beryl was definitely more quiet than most cats, seeing as he wasn't a big fan of noises of any kind, but he hoped that it wouldn't matter to his mentor and she wouldn't end up yelling at him. Hopefully he could prove to be a good apprentice by learning quickly and actually catching something instead of just being a bag of nerves.

Silverwhisker Silverwhisker gave a soft chuckle, "Probably more than I knew at your age," she said as a joke. The tabby suddenly dropped into a hunting crouch, "This position is good for hunting, I find that your tail, between completely straight, and the ground, is very good for balance," she said simply, "Lets see you try."

At her joke Berylpaw offered a shy smile. As she dropped into the crouch however, the smile faded and was replaced with a look of intense focus. He might not be the bravest cat, but hunting didn't seem as scary as fighting, so as long as he was a good hunter he might not have to be as good of a fighter. His eyes scanned her paw placement and when she spoke about her tail he inspected that as well. When she told him to try he gave one nod and slowly positioned his paws in a similar way to hers. He crouched in what seemed like a rather springy position and moved his tail so that it seemed to help with his balance, as she said. He looked to her for approval after he figured that he had positioned everything at least a little bit the same as she had. His paws were probably off, and he wasn't sure if he was low enough, but he hoped it was a close enough start.

Silverwhisker Silverwhisker watched as the apprentice moved, and appreciated the fact that he seemed like he really cared. The tabby gave a smile as he seemed he was finished and nodded, "Good, that looks just about right," she mewed. "Can you move around like that?" she asked, before listing off different prey in her mind.

She said it was good! Berylpaw smiled proudly and looked back at his paws, committing the stance to memory. Could he move though? He furrowed his non-existent cat brow as he tried to figure out how to move while still keeping the proper stance. He didn't want to do something wrong and possibly get yelled at, but he always figured that if he didn't do something wrong first he'd never learn how to do it right. So he tried to keep his crouch the best he could and slowly began to step forward. It was slow going as he would put his paw down and then pick it up to reposition it in a better place, but he figured that at least he was moving.

Silverwhisker Silverwhisker smiled again, "Don't worry that you're going slow, it's better to go slow and steady to practice, rather than try to be quick and make mistakes." The tabby nodded, "Would you like to see prey-catching in action, or would you like to try to keep working on techniques?"

Berylpaw hadn't really talked to Silverwhisker at all and so far she seemed really nice. It made him feel more at ease, but he was still very aware that they were in the territory and the possible danger that could lead to. So when she asked if he would like to go see it in action or stay and practice he almost wanted to just stay in the one spot and practice in order to not travel to some different unfamiliar place. At the same time he knew that if he wanted to get better at hunting then it would probably be better to watch some hunting in action. "Um... your choice I guess." He mumbled as he continued to keep moving around in his crouch and trying to get it better and faster.

Silverwhisker Silverwhisker nodded a few times, "I think it would be cool to show you a catch," the tabby said, "First, can you smell any prey?" The feline realized she almost forgot the most important part of catching prey, finding it. She knew most of her apprentices had some knowledge of how prey smelled like, from eating it.

The young apprentice nodded, knowing that she was probably right, but a little nervous of continuing to travel around the territory. He supposed that he would have to get used to it. Then she mentioned scenting for prey. Berylpaw stopped moving and smelled the air, trying to catch even the slightest smell of prey in the area. "I think there's a bird somewhere, and maybe a rabbit?" He meowed. The bird was nearby, but the rabbit scent was further away.

Silverwhisker Silverwhisker was glad by how the apprentice caught the scents quickly, almost as quick as herself. I'm old, anyway, she thought, before nodding. She followed the scent, nodding toward having the apprentice watch. It didn't take to long to find the bird, and she immediately got into a hunting crouch, ready to leap upward in case it took flight. She did her best to go downwind, and avoid any objects, before lunging toward the bird once she got close enough. A quick bite to the neck made it go limp, before bringing it back to a well-hidden area. "Try to stay in an area where it's harder for them to scent or notice you, then get as close as you can. A quick snap at it's neck or spine will make your catch quiet and clean."
