[Cherrypaw]

Cherrypaw was padding through the Fireclan territory, her eyes shining. She would hunt, but she didn't know how yet, so at the moment, the young apprentice was simply getting to know the place better. Cherrypaw was very grateful that there were no trees that she would be expected to climb, as without a tail, she had no sense of balance. Sometimes, even on solid ground, she would wobble and struggle to find footing.

She noticed another cat, recognizing her from her apprentice ceremony, though not remember her name. The other cat didn't look busy, so Cherrypaw padded up to her with bright eyes. "Hello, there!" She mewed.

Firepaw was sweating and panting, as she returned from training with fighting. She padded through the forest and was so exhausted that she sat down and was about to fall asleep. Ten minutes later, she woke up eyes half open. She heard someone greet her. "I'm resting leave me alone... zzzzz" Firepaw said, now half asleep, "Who are you? I'm Firekit, no wait Firepaw I mean..."

Cherrypaw frowned, concerned for this odd she-cat. "You should be grateful I woke you! A hawk could have carried you off while you were out here." Didn't she know that there were dangers here?

"I'm Cherrypaw." She introduced herself. "Maybe you need to go to the apprentices' den and sleep."

"Wait whaa...?" Firepaw mumbled. She opened her eyes and saw a Japanese bobtail cat. "Ah! Thank Cloudclan, you scared me!" Firepaw exclaimed, "What happened? Why am I sleeping here in the middle of Fireclan territory?" She calmed down when she told Firepaw that her name was Cherrypaw. "Yeah... I need to go back to Fireclan territory and get some rest there." she grumbled. Her stomach growled, starting to get hungry. "I'm hungry... Hey! wanna hunt together?"

Cherrypaw hesitated, shuffling her paws. "Oh, I don't know how to hunt." She admitted. Had the other apprentices already learned to hunt? Oceanstar had only barely started her training..

Though, she had learned how to do the hunter's crouch and pounce from a warrior. Maybe, if Cherrypaw tried really hard, she could catch something. "Though, I suppose it's worth a shot."

Firepaw was confused. Apprentices her age already learned hunting, except this one she-cat. "Yeah, you better try. It's really fun!" she told Cherrypaw, "Should I teach you the basics?" She knew it wouldn't go well, but she considered it 'practicing mentoring' before she became a warrior.

"I already know the basics of stalking." Cherrypaw defended herself. It wasn't her fault that her ceremony had come late, and she'd only just started her training. "I've just never actually.. Tried it with real prey. But I think I'll be fine." Cherrypaw mewed, hoping she would remember enough of Sandstep's teachings.

Firepaw was excited. "Well now you'll try it with real prey!" she said, "You ready?" Firepaw scented the air for mouse. "I'm gonna try hunting mouse."

"Oh, okay." Cherrypaw nodded and opened her mouth, tasting the air. She took a few moments to find something to hunt, eventually locating a white rabbit, and crouched, slowly starting to creep up on it.

Firepaw put her nose in the air, sniffing and trying to find mouse scent. She smelled mouse, finally! She crouched down and sneaked up towards where the mouse scent was. Firepaw put all her energy in her hindquarters and sprang forward to the mouse. 'Gotcha!' she thought. She looked back and saw Cherrypaw creeping towards a white rabbit. 'Wow! I never learned to hunt rabbit yet. I'll give it a try though!' she encouraged herself. She started to look for a rabbit to hunt down.
