Echokit nodded deeply. "Okay." she squeaked, turning determined eyes onto the fresh-kill pile. It seemed like the more likely of the two options to have feathers. As she approached, Echokit could not see any birds at first glance in the mess. But she was rather short, being a kitten and all.

Shiningpaw grinned at Echokit. There were no birds on the top but if she... she nudged a few peices of prey away from the edge. reaching the bottom where about ten feathers sat. It was a start.

A grin bloomed at the sight of the ten feathers. Would that be enough? Echokit wasn't sure, but without hesitation, she scooped up the items and set them at her side. "Is this all we need?" the white she-kit purred towards her new friend.

"For one nest," she shrugged before taking some of the feathers from Echokit and turning to the nursery, approaching the nest that belonged to Echokit.

She opened one pale green orb, then the other, raising her head slowly from her messy nest. "What's going on?" her voice was sleepily quiet, but she perked up when she caught a new, unknown scent. "Wait, I smell a cat that isn't a queen," the tiny kitten crawled out through a gap near the bottom of the nest which was now just a messy mountain of moss and grass, bounding up to the kitten and the unfamiliar cat. Quickly, she sat beside the other kit, smiling and tail twitching in a friendly way. "Im Ivykit, what's your name?" the question was intended for both of them, though realistically it only looked like she was speaking to the other kitten. Her ear twitched and she had to strain her hearing while waiting for a reply.

Echokit gave another nod. She and Sparkkit shared the same nest, so it seemed to work out in her favor that they found enough feathers. Although the white she-kit was surprised when a kitten raced over and took a seat beside her, just as Echokit was trying to weave the the thrush feathers into the moss, mostly on Sparkkit's side.
"Oh-- hello, Ivykit. I'm Echokit, and this is my friend Shiningpaw." she greeted in a friendly tone.

"Hi Ivykit." she greeted with a smile. The other cat was a kit, as could be guessed of most cats in the clan. She picked up a feather and busied herself weaving it into the moss skillfully. She decided to observe the kits as she worked rather than talk herself.

She licked her muzzle, tail swaying slightly as she watched them with their nests in concentration. The shekit didn't speak, even though she was almost certain nobody had even tried to speak to her anyway.

Since no one had said anything more, Echokit sat there in the silence awkardly. Should she say something? She didn't know. Carefully, as she finished weaving the feathers into the nest, the white kitten turned to Ivykit and Shiningpaw. "There!" she purred at the finished work. 'I hope Sparkkit likes it!'

Shiningpaw nodded. "Very good. So, how long till y'all will be apprentices?" she asked the little cats.

"I don't know, I hope its soon though!" She smiled, her small tail swaying side to side. Her face dropped and she felt a sticky black pit of tar yawn open in her stomach. "Wait, they cant hold back my ceremony because im smaller, can they? Because I've noticed I'm a little bit shorter than most of the kits my age." The shekit laps at her paws, trying to hide her subconscious nervousness.

Echokit shrugged at that. "Very far away she squeaked, almost solemnly. "I'm almost two moons old, but... that's not very close to six."
At Ivykit's worry, the white she-kit turned to give her denmate a comforting smile. "Non, non, Ivykit." she mewed in a calming tone. "They don't hold back your ceremony just because you're smaller. At least, that's what my grandmother told me. She said she has always been really small all her life, but no one treated her differently because of it." Echokit could easily picture the smaller figure of Firebird in her head, and remember her grandmother reminiscing about her childhood as the ginger warrior visited her grandkits one day.

"Well I was also small as a kit and I can tell you first hand that they will not hold you back." she responded. (Sorry short.)

"Oh, okay then." She purred and lay down, tucking her paws under her chest. "I guess Im just paranoid." The shekit swiped her tongue around her muzzle, whiskers twitching.

Echokit gave her new friend Shiningpaw a surprised look. She couldn't imagine the apprentice as a tiny kitten. Maybe just because she was so much older than Echokit.
Turning back to Ivykit, the white kitten smiled at that. "It's okay to paranoid... I think." she mewed.
