Moonfur padded to the Apprentices' Den once more, giving a sigh as she stretched a bit. It would be one of the last days she came here for Firepaw's training. 'It's been such a short time.. was she really made an apprentice that recently?' She padded to the den, calling for @shiny22 . "Firepaw! Training!" Making her way to the camp's exit, she sat down and waited.

Firepaw's ears twitched when she heard someone call her name. 'Oh right! Training!' she thought, springing to her paws. She ran out the apprentices den. 'Moonfur!' "Hi Moonfur! what are we going to do for training today?" Firepaw asked, who sat down scratching her ear.

[Moonfur]

"Well, you've learned the borders, and how to hunt.." Moonfur said. "So now.. combat!" she said. "I'll teach you the basics and anything else you should know." The warrior thought through the fighting moves she'd learned, choosing which ones she'd teach to her apprentice.

Firepaw jumped really high. "Yes! Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!" she yipped, "So what are the basics?"

[Moonfur]

Moonfur led her to an open spot like they were in when she'd taught Firepaw how to hunt. "I think we'll start with a basic pounce." she began. "Try getting into the same position as the hunting crouch. It's similar to that, but more of an aggressive move." the silver cat mewed, moving into a crouch,. She stayed low to the ground as she built up strength in her hind legs, pushing off and landing on a taller blade of grass. "See, you want enough to land on or possibly next to your opponent to attack them,"

Firepaw crouched, as told by Moonfur. She built power into her hind legs, and jumped, claws sheathed. "Rawr!" she yowled when she figured out that she was going to crash into a tree. "Oof!"

(erm. there are barely any trees because it's the plains, lol)
Moonfur stepped to Firepaw's side, offering a paw to help her up. "You okay?" she asked her. "Try not to make it too strong or they could dodge and you could go flying off." Moonfur's whiskers twitched a bit as she remembered a few times where she'd done so in practice fights. "Try it again?" she suggested.

Firepaw shook her head. "Okay! I'll try again!" she said, encouraging herself. She crouched and launched herself into the air, heading straight down for Moonfur, smiling. Her pelt was shining fire-gold in the sunlight and her glowing bloodlust narrowed amber eyes. Firepaw attempted to claw Moonfur. "Weeee!!!" she cheered cheerfully.

Moonfur gave a mock yowl as Firepaw leaped onto her, paws flailing as she attempted to block her attacks. She pushed her off- gently, of course- and smiled. Thinking back to her own training, she decided to teach the apprentice the same thing. "Okay, now try this. You dive towards your opponent, and spring up to unbalance them. It's good against cats who are bigger than you." she said. "It's kind of like this," the warrior prepared to leap, but she stayed low to the ground, imagining a cat standing in front of her. Then, she dove between said cat's legs, swiftly flipping herself up onto her paws. "Try it by yourself first, then do it on me."

Firepaw tried to do what Moonfur did. She crouched down, her belly touching the soft grass. She launched herself, landing quickly, then tumbling and rolling on the ground. "Eh, did I do it right?"

[Moonfur]

Moonfur watched Firepaw's form, squinting a bit as she thought. "Hm.. try just diving on one side, on your shoulder, like this." she said. Moving into a crouch, she dove like she did before, trying to emphasise how she moved with one shoulder hitting the ground before she jumped up. "Do you get it? It's like.. you dive in on one side, then pop up onto your paws." The warrior was sure she could do it, it was just practice she needed.

Firepaw nodded and crouched. 'Come on... I can do this!' she encouraged herself. She dove forwards. 'Dive on one side, dive on one side! One side!' she reminded herself. She dove to one side, hit her back on the ground but got to her paws as soon as possible. "Did *gasp* I *gasp* do it?" she said, breathing heavily, "Oh, my back hurts!"

Moonfur winced a little as the apprentice hit her back, but she nodded slowly after Firepaw asked. "Yes, that was pretty good! I think the rest will just come with practice. That being said.." She took a moment to think, remembering her own training. "Do you want to try a practice fight? Then we can see what your instincts are, and, if we need to, change some of the ways you do things.." Echoflight had done the same, and she thought it was a good idea.

(Let's do this last practice fight, then end the thread. You can make a den cleaning thread, probably in the nursery, and tag me in it, since you need a den cleaning thread to become a warrior. Some point after, I'll make the final assessment.)

Firepaw's face lightened. "A fight? Okay!" she said crouching, ready to strike. She launched herself, diving towards Moonfur, leaning on one side. Firepaw attempted to go under Moonfur and topple her over.

"Claws sheathed, remember." Moonfur stated before Firepaw launched herself at her. She put up a paw to try and keep the apprentice's attacks from hitting her face as she prepared to retaliate. Soon after, she summoned her strength and pushed backwards, hoping to throw Firepaw off of her. If the apprentice could react quickly, she might be able to jump off of her before being squashed against the ground or thrown back.

(Are you trying to use the move she just taught firepaw? it's to go under them and knock them over not land on them lol, just saying in case you weren't sure)
(Also, try not to powerplay, I'm sure you don't mean to, but you autohit a lot. It's better to say "she attempted to land on moonfur and claw her" instead since that lets me react, just saying for future reference!
