Thunderpaw had been flourishing in the life of an apprentice and his assessment was very soon. He could hardly wait! Though the tom didn't know who else was ready to move to the warriors den. Would he be the only one to become a warrior that was in his apprentice ceremony? He wasn't so sure what he thought about that... He was sure about that he had to talk to his very first friend however. "Cherrypaw ? You in here?"

Cherrypaw had taken Aloepaw's advice, and started to work on her training on her own time, which was necessary, considering that since her mentor was the leader, he was extremely busy.
She was laying in her nest, relaxing after a long day, when a familiar voice called out to her. Cherrypaw lifted her head, a smile gracing her face when she saw Thunderpaw. "Oh, hey!" She purred, standing up. "Thunderpaw, it's good to see you!"

Thunderpaw's face lit up when he saw his friend stand up. "It's good to see you too! It's been a while hasn't it?" He didn't know how busy the apprentices' life could get but also didn't realize the dry spells. It seemed like training or nothing. "How's it going?"

"It has." Cherrypaw agreed, blinking her gold eyes warmly. "Good. I've met so many new cats, and made plenty of friends.." She spoke, flicking an ear. "What about you, how have you been?"

He thought for a moment how to respond to her question as things were ... different than what he'd expect. Yeah, that was how to put it. "Well, life's different than what I thought when I was a kit. I've made some.. interesting friends." He didn't want to exactly bring up the awkward situation between Swanpaw and him the other day. What was he thinking? He cleared his throat, "Training's going good though. I should have my assessment soon."

Cherrypaw drooped a little bit, looking down at the ground. "Oh, already? I don't think I'm anywhere near ready, I've hardly done anything with Oceanstar.." The thought of Thunderpaw becoming a warrior without her was extremely disheartening, and it seemed like there was quite a bit that her supposed best friend wasn't telling her.

Thunderpaw twitched his whiskers and frowned as she looked down at the ground. After listening to her statement he wasn't too excited about becoming a warrior anymore, especially if it meant he'd have to leave her behind in the apprentices den. He swallowed, hard, as he didn't enjoy the thought of it. "We will see each other around I'm sure. I hope you will be able to do a lot more training soon. Hopefully you'll be ready to get your warrior ceremony close to when I get mine." He then thought for a moment about if she was his best friend, surely he could say anything. "The other day something awkward happened between a friend of mine and me. We were out in the territory and she got a cut on the nose, may have licked her nose- to take away the sting I mean." He made sure to add that last part. He wasn't really sure if he had feelings for the other apprentice or not but it seemed clear that she didn't have much for him.

Cherrypaw pushed back her initial desire to show bitterness towards Thunderpaw- It wasn't his fault that he had a better apprentice-hood than her, or that he was making new, better friends.. Perhaps she was spending a bit too much time around Aloepaw.
She nodded, trying to clear her head so that she could properly give him advice. "It sounds like you're overreacting, or your friend is. A lick on the nose isn't a big deal, and you were doing it to be kind, not romantic.. Who is this mystery cat, anyways?"

He gave a nod, listening to Cherrypaw's statement. "True, true. Oh it's Swanpaw. I met her back in kithood. She's a bit different. Not bad.. just different." The tom didn't want to seem like there was any issue with Swanpaw but he did know that she was sometimes a bit unconventional in her ways but that didn't bother him too much.

"Oh, Swanpaw." Cherrypaw had also met the she-cat, and considered her to be a positive acquaintance, though she didn't know Thunderpaw was that close with her. "She's alright. A bit prickly, though." She shrugged coolly, her gaze flitting past Thunderpaw.

Thunderpaw swallowed. He didn't want to build any tension. "I didn't mean to strike a nerve if I did." He noticed her tone and gaze not very happy sounding to his ears. At least not any happy sound that he'd ever heard before.

"You didn't. Swanpaw is a decent cat." Cherrypaw shrugged, not wanting to talk about how she felt.
"We should go hunting." Cherrypaw suggested, changing the season subject. "I'm sure you've found all the good places by now."

He gave a nod. "Sure I guess. I have found some places that were good. You ready to go?" Thunderpaw gave a little hop on his feet and tilted his head towards the camp exit.

"Oh, sure!" Cherrypaw got to her paws, padding after him. It would be nice to really spend some time with Thunderpaw, since it had been so long. "Where are we going?"

He shook his head. "You'll see. Come on let's go!" he trotted from the spot where they stood and headed out of the camp, wondering if she was keeping up too.
