Stormfrost felt a cold breeze sweep into the warriors den and woke up with a grumble. Might as well get up. He rose to his paws and stretched before letting out a bit of a loud yawn. It didn't wake anyone up so he was good to go. Padding out into the clearing and over to the fresh kill pile he nearly dragged his feet. He ate a vole somewhat slowly and decided that it was time for him to get a move on. With that, he padded over to the apprentices den, calling for his apprentice, "Up and at em, Swanfrost!"

Swanpaw jerked awake instantly as her name was called, a swarm of butterflies erupting in her stomach. Today was the day. "Morning." She called out to him, quickly flying out of the den. She moved to the fresh kill pile, though the lump in her throat made her think otherwise. "Lets just head out, I'm not hungry." She moved towards the entrance, more energetic than usual. She was, for once, excited.

He blinked in surprise as he saw a flash of white fur fly past him. Guess she's ready to go huh? Stormfrost looked over at Swanpaw as she decided to come back without eating and he frowned. "Okay. Well, we will be out in the territory if you need anything to eat we can get something." He decided to start padding out into the territory. "We will start with the battle assessment portion. Kind of like how we did in the training."

Swanpaw nodded, her heart hammering in her chest as he announced they would do the fighting portion first. Most apprentices started out with hunting, and that's what she had mentally prepared herself to do. "Do I have to beat you to pass my assessment?" She questioned, her voice jumping around nervously. Stormfrost was a better fighter than her, and she didn't think she would be able to beat him. Sure, he was kinda getting old, but he was way more experienced than she was.

He shook his head in response. "No you don't need to beat me to pass the test. Just try your best. If your heart is in it- that's what matters the most for this test." He admitted. Usually he liked to take it easy on his apprentices whenever he could. Stormfrost took a fighting stance and waited for his apprentice to attack. "Ladies first."

Swanpaw was glad to hear that she didn't have to win, rolling her shoulders back to relieve them of all the built up tension. She studied his stance for a weak spot, tail swaying softly from side to side. She didn't crouch down like she normally would, making it seem like she wasn't ready. She didn't have to fight fair, did she? Without a second of hesitation she lunged forward, not high enough into the air to be easily avoided. Her back legs were strong enough to send her at him at a quick speed, and she aimed to barrel straight into his chest. Though, she wasn't just doing that. Her front paw was low, that way when, if, she hit him her paw would be able to swipe his front ones straight out from under him.

Stormfrost was awaiting his apprentices attack when it seemed as if she was not ready but the moment was over swiftly as she launched at him. His surprise at her move didn't leave him paralyzed though yet he wasn't really able to move out of the way from her attack. He wasn't as good as he used to be and felt the hit quite strongly on his paws and stumbled. He quickly tried to regain his balance and bolt around to the side before whipping around and trying to attack from the side.

Swanpaw's attack hadn't completely failed, though it still left her slightly defenceless. She was relying on him to get knocked over, though instead he managed to stay upright and move to the side of her. Swanpaw took a quick step back as he tried to attack her side, feeling a few blows. She dropped to the ground and rolled away from him, springing back quickly onto her paws. Moving forward again she circled around him, allowing him to have the next attack on her.

He looked around for his apprentice and spotted a white ball of floof. Found her! Stormfrost launched at her with his front paws spread out like Scar vs Simba and then attempted to knock her over, a move he thought she was trying to use against him to seal the win.

Swanpaw ducked as he lunged at her, a scowl on her face as she got into the fight. She moved forward, enough so that he would go over her head. Once he was over top of her she straightened to her full height, jamming her head into his stomach before ducking again. She hoped it was enough to send him to the ground in an awkward heap.

Stormfrost stumbled into a goofy pile of fluffy old tom. He grinned as he tried to untangle himself. "Very good. You ready to do your hunting portion of the assessment? You will have to catch as much as you can before daybreak. Try to get about four pieces of prey if you can. That'll be good for the assessment."

Swanpaw nodded, mentally preparing herself for the worst part. She felt confident enough to get the required amount since she had practiced beforehand, though she still had to ask. "And if I don't get four pieces of prey?"

Stormfrost shook his head. "Catch at least two then we can call it good. I believe you've shown great strength as a warrior already so one or two should suffice. If you don't, you'll still become a warrior."
(If you want to do them in the same post you can to make it easier...)

Swanpaw nodded before bounding away from him. She knew he would be somewhere near her, as she had heard from other apprentices that the mentors followed them around like shadows. She tried hard not to think about it, knowing then she would want to look for him. Swanpaw forced herself to focus, slowing once she thought she was far enough out that the prey here hadn't heard their scuffle from before. She scented the air, beginning to follow the scent of rabbit. She paused as she could sight of it, tail twitching. Moving slowly forward in her hunters crouch she sprang, surprised that she had managed to catch it before it ran. Swiftly killing it she buried it into the ground, hopes high at her good catch. Maybe this wouldn't be so hard. The next thing she managed to scent after awhile was mouse, though the closer she got to it the more alert it became. It suddenly sprang away from her, racing off into a bush. She seethed, not bothering to chase it down and instead continued elsewhere. The scent of a sparrow was evident in the air, and she watched the bird peck at the thawing ground. She had hunted one with Willowpaw earlier, so she knew how. Lunging forward she just barely missed, and it quickly took flight. She reared up, leaping into the air and dragging it down by the tip of its wing. She killed it with a small amount of struggle, burying it with pride in her chest. She looked to the sky, head tilted. She had enough time to catch one more. Moving out again, she neared a small pond. She was about to turn back when a vole caught her attention. She sprang at it without a seconds hesitation, easily killing it. She looked around for Stormfrost now that her time was up.

Stormfrost padded around in the shadows and made sure to keep out of sight from his apprentice. It wasn't too complicated in a way. "Good job, Swanpaw! I would like to say... you've passed your assessment!" He gave a goofy grin and said, "I'll help you carry the prey back. You ready to head back?" He asked.
