(( Cinderflame so hiraeth is a welsh word for homesickness and grief and i thought it was pretty so here we are. also, sorry this took so long to make!)) The soft she-cat delicately tread the stony ground, careful not to disturb any wayward pebbles or sticks and give away her presence to any nearby cats. Peachglow was not yet used to the mountainous territory of Iceclan, having grown up in the fields, where her light, creamy pelt blended in well with the grassy surroundings, instead of standing out among muted grays.
Now in a part of Iceclan that Peachglow wasn't familiar with, she carefully explored until coming across an entrance to a cave, which after scenting out the area thoroughly, the queen decided was empty. Desiring some true solitude, the maine coon cat made her way inside, able to relax until the faint sound of pawsteps caught her attention.
"Who's there?"

Cinderflame could never stop working. With all that work she did some might say that she was stressed. Someone had infact once said she was stressed. The black she-cat didn't exactly really care anyways.
The deputy had decided to go for a walk, to make sure that she had remembered the landmarks of IceClan territory. Cinderflame wasn't born in IceClan after all. The she-cat sighed and heading on, treading lightly.
The scent of another cat entered her nostrils, one of the queens. Her eyes narrowed. "It's me, Cinderflame."

"Of course, my apologies for not recognizing you." Peachglow dipped her head respectfully at the Iceclan deputy. "I must admit, I'm still trying to get to know every cat's scent."
Peachglow heard plenty of gossip, and she knew that Cinderflame was a very strict deputy- She'd even seen Sunshadow cleaning out the nursery after getting into a dispute with her. The queen spoke carefully, wanting it to be clear that she meant no harm, and appreciated all ha Cinderflame was doing for her clan.
"What are you doing out here?" Peachglow asked warmly, trying to start a conversation.

Cinderflame listened. She knew as well that it was hard to remember so manny cat scents but she didn't want to admit it. Like Sunshadow had said she was supposed to know all the cats in the clan. 'I only knew a few, do I really have to meet them all.'
She had never really talked to Peachglow before, she didn't know the queen that well either. All she knew was that the other she-cat wasn't from IceClan either. 'I guess we have something in common.'
"Just going on a walk to clear my head."

"I was doing the same." Peachglow nodded, being friendly, but staying somewhat reserved. She wasn't going to outright admit that she found the camp to be overwhelming and overcrowded, as she didn't want Cinderflame to think that she wasn't cut out for clan life. Peachglow would adjust, she just needed some more time, she'd only been in Iceclan for a few moons.
And Peachglow wasn't about to be seen as useless, either. "I usually hunt when I go out, but prey is rather scarce at the moment, and I wanted to check this place out, I haven't been here before." The creamy she-cat explained herself with a wave of the tail before Cinderflame could accuse her of being lazy.

Cinderflame nodded before not saying anything else. She was awkward while having friendly conversations with her clanmates. The black she-cat never really knew what to say sometimes. 'Just be nice, don't snap at her, don't do anything wrong.' Cinder told herself before looking at the queen.
"Yeah prey is scare this moon, hopefully newleaf will be here soon and bring more prey. That reminds me, I need to go hunting again, there wasn't much in the fresh-kill pile." The deputy spoke.

Peachglow didn't understand why cats said Cinderflame was so strict, she seemed more awkward than anything. The poor she-cat had to adjust the clan life and manage being deputy at the same time, and Peachglow pitied her, her motherly instincts kicking in.
"Leaf-bare will be over soon, and hunting will be much easier then." She murmured with a shrug. Snow-falls were already getting replaced by rain, and water levels in the river were rising, which was dangerous, but also brought more fish. "You don't need to worry so much.."

Cinderflame sighed before thinking about something. 'I really need to calm down. Cinder stop stressing about borders and hunting. Everything will be fine in the end.' She told herself. 'But not everything is always fine in the end, what if we all starve.' The deputy was about to mutter something out loud but she didn't want Peachglow thinking that she was strange.
Cinderflame nodded. She sighed again. "Then I won't have to worry about food that much." She muttered quietly. 'I'll always worry.' "Of course I need to worry."

"As far as I can tell, Iceclan is in a time of peace, and better times are on the way." Peachglow commented cautiously, taking note of how concerned Cinderflame looked. "I don't advise that you completely relax, of course, but I don't think you quite need to worry so much, either. There's nothing wrong with enjoying yourself, as long as you're still keeping your eyes open."
Peachglow waved her tail, trying to spread her calm attitude to Cinderflame. "There are other things you can focus on. Like adjusting to clan life. Have you made any friends in Iceclan yet?"

Cinderflame sighed and nodded. "But who knows when there will be trouble, we must always be alert." The deputy murmured before taking a deep breath. 'I worry too much, everyone's noticing. What do I do! I can't seem this vulnerable in front of a whole entire clan!' The black she-cat wailed in her head.
"I am enjoying myself." Cinderflame insisted. "Border patrols and hunting patrols are always fun." She meowed. "I think I've gotten used to the new territory." Cinderflame replied. "Friends, umm I don't have time for friends."

Though Peachglow was usually a fairly anxious cat, seeing Cinderflame so stressed out brought out her motherly instinct, therefore causing her to calm down. "You have to trust in CloudClan, and believe that everything will be okay. They won't protect us from everything, but they won't let one of their clans fall apart." Peachglow was a skeptic of CloudClan, herself, but she found that she could conveniently use them to comfort others.
"What about me?" Peachglow tipped her head to the side. "Are we not friends?"

Cinderflame herself wasn't a big believer in CloudClan since she was kinda new to the whole clanlife. She didn't get how dead cats could visit the living in dreams or how they could guide the clan. Her eyes narrowed slightly but then she spoke. "Okay."
The black she-cat wasn't very comforted but she tried to calm herself down. No one wanted a deputy acting like this. "Yeah, I guess your my friend. If you want to be."

Peachglow inwardly knew that by giving advice, she was being a hypocrite. The only cats she talked to were the kits in the nursery, and otherwise she either kept to herself or did very limited conversation.
But, it wasn't like she was the deputy. Cinderflame had to be more friendly, she was supposed to be setting an example.
"Thanks." The queen mewed warmly, glad that her offer hadn't been rejected. "I do want to be your friend, Cinderflame."

Cinderflame was quite surprised.
Her eyes widened when Peachglow replied. No one had ever wanted to consider the deputy as their friend. Probably because of the black she-cat's personality and the way she addressed the cats around her.
"How's it like being a queen?" Cinderflame thought it was rude to not speak again when Peachglow had been so kind and warm to her. She tried to start up the conversation once more.
The deputy didn't know much about the life of a queen, she had never been interested nor did she want to be one. Cinderflame didn't want to be surrounded by mewling kits.

"It's.. interesting." Peachglow wasn't going to complain in front of the deputy, but she wasn't one to lie, either. The fluffy she-cat's gaze went past Cinderflame, her mind clouded with various contradicting thoughts before she finally settled on an answer.
"I love IceClan, and I love my kits." The queen mewed, licking her chest fur. Peachglow wasn't the most social she-cat, so it was probably for the best that she spent most of her time in the nursery since she wasn't cut out to be a medicine cat either. "It's a bit.. sad that I can't take a permanent mate, though."
