Mothpaw (You'll have one private session, then the others will be with Rosepaw.)
Redfoot waited in the camp clearing for one of her newest apprentices, Mothpaw. Her eyes darted to the prey pile, noticing that it had become small throughout the cold season of leaffall. Her belly grumbled, but she knew that there were others in FireClan that would need to eat more than she.
Rosepaw's first session had gone rather well, but Redfoot wasn't too optimistic that Mothpaw's would too. She had trained her share of difficult apprentices over the years, and was always prepared for another one. She did hope that Mothpaw was easy going, though.
The large black she-cat lifted a paw to lick as she waited for Mothpaw.

mothpaw wasn't sure how this was going to go down. a territory tour? a laying down of the law? fighting? hunting? she may not know much about being an apprentice, but learning how to defend her clan against evil seemed like a better way to pass the afternoon than learning all about rules and respect, things she never had to worry about as a kit. it might be a good thing, though, to learn some responsibility. "hi, redfoot," she murmured once the she-cat was in earshot, dipping her head as she wondered whether her casual greeting had been too, well, casual.

Mothpaw wasn't interested in rules? In that case, the apprentice was about to be very disappointed. Redfoot nodded curtly to the young she-cat, briefly studying her. She seemed... Awkward.
"First, we're going to go over some quick rules. Then we can go on to do something a little more fun, okay?" She said this in the form of a question, but this training session definitely was not up to Mothpaw. She narrowed her eyes after finishing speaking, waiting for some sort of retaliation or complaint.

//v late reply sorry!
mothpaw nodded, almost absent-mindedly, impatient to begin training. she had been waiting for this for so long. it would be a shame if it didn't live up to her expectations. she offered a tentative smile to her mentor, more than happy to follow instructions. "sure, sounds good!" she responded, trying to sound mature, but the gleam in her pale green eyes betrayed her anticipation.
mothpaw still had to remind herself that she wasn't a kit anymore, and that she had to act like it. sure, rules were boring, but they were important. part of being an apprentice was learning things you didn't like, anyway. she raised her petite head and tried to make herself seem a little taller. she had to impress redfoot.

"Let's talk as we're walking out to the territory," Redfoot mewed, standing up. She flicked her tail in the direction of the camp exit, and began walking, expecting Mothpaw to follow.
"First, you can never leave camp without another warrior, or without my permission. Although cleaning nests is never fun, it is your job as an apprentice to clean the elder's nests, and sometimes the queen's. I expect you and Rosepaw to get along with each other, I don't want to be a part of any drama. You are expected to practice the battle moves you learn on your own time. Lastly, I do not, I repeat, do not want to see any lovey fluff between you and any other apprentices. Your apprentice moons are for training, save whatever else for later."

mothpaw trotted after her mentor, pricking her ears, and listening carefully. she couldn't afford to miss a piece of information. already, redfoot didn't seem like the type to play around, and she wasn't sure what the black she-cat would do if she made any mistakes. not being able to leave the camp?
but she saw apprentices out and about all the time, and she never heard of them getting punished. or perhaps her mentor was a particularly strict one. getting along with rosepaw? that was an easy one. okay, so her overprotectiveness could be annoying, but she was her sister. they would be fine. "shouldn't be a problem," she mewed.

// sorry for the late response, I've been out of town without much internet time. Mothpaw //
"Good, then we can get started," Redfoot mewed with a curt nod. She had learned moons ago that she didn't get to be a nice, easy-going mentor. She had apprentices walk all over her, and it was not going to happen again. She thought of Pincerear, constantly running off and badgering Redfoot to train her more.
As the pair headed out of camp, she decided to just work on hunting today. The weather was warming up, and prey would hopefully be coming out. Her other apprentice, Rosepaw, hadn't the chance to hunt live. Maybe this was unfair, but she didn't want to do the same exact lesson with each cat.

as they entered the territory, mothpaw's breath was taken away. it seemed to go on forever, a wide, open prairie that seemed to be made for one thing only: running. the grass was lush and green, the soil so soft that it sunk beneath her paws. she bent her head, inhaling the wonderful scent of earth.
the earth was all around her, clinging to her fur and between her claws. "wow," she murmured, not quite knowing what else to say. she soon realized that she had been left behind. hastily, she quickened her pace until she was beside redfoot again, offering her mentor a sheepish smile. "sorry," she apologised. "it's just so... wow."

"Don't worry, take your time. It's a lot to take in," she said, looking back at the apprentice.
Redfoot laughed softly, remembering stumbling upon FireClan as a kit. She had a very similar reaction to Mothpaw's. She looked up at the sky. The weather was fairly warm, it was a nice day. A perfect day, actually, especially for touring the territory. She began walking again, flicking her tail in a 'let's go' manner.
"We were going to start hunting, but change of plans," Redfoot mewed. "Today, we're going on a little tour of the territory."

when redfoot flicked her tail, mothpaw started, quickly trotting after her mentor. her eyes wandered, drinking in the white wisps of cloud that disrupted the blue expanse of sky, the green, green prairie that seemed as endless as it was beautiful, the earth itself, cold between her claws and smelling of everything wonderful, everything that made fireclan fireclan.
she wanted to look back on this moment, wanted to memorize every detail, wanted to remember the scene before her and never forget. her ears pricked when redfoot spoke again, disappointed that she wouldn't be hunting today, but excited at the thought of getting to know the territory. "okay," she mewed, eyes bright.

Redfoot didn't speak, but picked up the pace, heading toward the TreeClan border. There, lay the remnants of a graveyard. Long ago, a family of two-legs had been buried there. The smell of two-leg reappeared every so often, but anymore it just smelled like trees. Kits and apprentices often liked to joke that it was haunted, but Redfoot had never believed in that silly stuff.
"First, we'll check out the TreeClan border and the Graveyard," she finally spoke. After a few moments, they arrived at the shaded and somewhat spooky place. It didn't match the rest of FireClan, since it was so shaded, but it didn't look exactly out of place either.
"Some time ago, a family of two-legs was buried here. Each stone marks each body," Redfoot explained, slowing her pace to a walk.

mothpaw's eyes widened when they came to a small hollow, several large slabs of stones every few tail-lengths or so. there was something eerie about them, and redfoot's words only confirmed it. "so there are dead twolegs here," she murmured, something like awe in her voice. before now, she hadn't known that twolegs commemorated their dead as well. did they go to cloudclan too? it was a strange thought, that cats and twolegs weren't all that different, in this respect at least.

"Yes, from a long time ago," Redfoot said softly with a slow nod. Two-legs were such strange creatures, she hadn't any idea how her mother had tolerated them for so long. Redfoot remembered her early days with two-legs, and how strange they always smelled. She remembered the day one of the two-legs had disappeared, and wondered if he had died and been buried like these ones.
Her eyes widened, and she tried to shake away all those random thoughts.
"Near the Graveyard is the TreeClan border," Redfoot explained, walking in the direction of the border. She could smell the stench of TreeClan cats from far away. "Take a good whiff of that scent, and don't forget it." Although TreeClan was always a rather peaceful Clan, it was important to know their scent and where their borders were.

mothpaw glanced at the graveyard one more time before padding after redfoot. she recoiled, surprised at just how strong - and unpleasant - the smell was. at her mentor's words, she inhaled deeply, albeit reluctantly, resisting the urge to wrinkle her nose.
of course, mothpaw couldn't help but wonder whether fireclan smelled just as bad to the other clans. maybe you get used to it, she thought, with an absent-minded flick of her tail. she almost laughed at her mentor's next words. "i won't," she said grimly. "who could forget that?"

Redfoot laughed at Mothpaw's expression, agreeing wholeheartedly that the other Clans never smelled too pleasant to her. The black she-cat inhaled deeply, taking in another whiff of the TreeClan scent. It had always interested her in how different the groups could smell. Besides their homes, they were all cats, after all.
"If you think TreeClan stinks, just wait until you smell RockClan," she said, her nose wrinkled. She was often torn between which Clan she disliked the most, RockClan or IceClan. She had battled with both, but genuinely hated both opposing Clans. She flicked her tail, and began walking again, away from the graveyard. After walking for a while, she came upon the Reed Beds. This could've been Redfoot's favorite spot, if not for the disgusting scent and proximity to RockClan.
