Swanfrost couldn't help but feel nervous. Willowpaw was her friend after all, so she wasn't exactly sure how to treat her at the moment. She had done what most real mentors did, and woke up early in the morning much to her distaste. She slinked out of the warriors den silently, grabbing something quick to eat. Once she was finished she quietly entered the apprentice den, locating Willowspirit in her nest, seemingly asleep. It was extremely early, so early that the sun had barely peaked over the horizon. "Hey." She hissed, keeping her voice down. "Get up." She prodded at her side roughly, impatient as always.

Willowpaw's eyes snapped open, and upon seeing Swanfrost, she smirked in excitement. Both Ashfire and Cloudskip had been unable to complete her training, but hopefully, the third time would be a charm. She was especially glad that Swanfrost was doing her a favor by doing her assessment, because she trusted the young warrior.
"Okay. I'll eat later, let's get this over with." Willowpaw mewed, standing up and padding out into the camp.

Swanfrost nodded, grinning at the soon to be warriors excitement. Willowpaw was beyond ready at this point, so she wouldn't take it too easy on her. Though obviously, it wouldn't be very hard either.
"Alright, follow me." She led her out of camp, only taking her a little ways into the territory before stopping. "Alright so, we can start with hunting." Swanfrost paused, deciding to challenge her. She looked over at the sun, which was just barely starting to show, spreading light into the terrain. "Catch as much as you can before the sun is completely visible, I'll be following you around but just ignore me." She didn't bother to tell her that instantly once the sun was up, the fighting part of her assessment would begin. She thought a surprise attack would make things more realistic.

Willowpaw looked at the horizon and then back at Swanfrost, nodding her head. She was confident in her hunting skills, enough so that she wasn't worried about catching enough prey.
Without another word, the senior apprentice turned around, heading towards the graveyard. There was usually some prey there, and not a lot of cats frequented the place, so she felt it would be perfect for her to hunt. Before she got there, however, Willowpaw stopped, scenting a nearby mouse. She located the creature to be in the grass near her, and dropped into a crouch, stalking it for several tail-lengths before pouncing and killing the creature with a swift bite.

Swanfrost followed after her silently, feeling ridiculous. It was such a stalker thing to do. Shaking it off she watched as Willowpaw easily killed a mouse. She would have to wait until she moved on so Swanfrost could check to see how clean the kill was. She didn't doubt it would be though.

The mouse was rather plump, and quite slow, which was part of the reason Willowpaw had such an easy time with the catch. She dug a shallow hole and buried the mouse, before continuing on her way towards the graveyard. At this point, she had pushed Swanfrost to th dge of her mind, having an easier time just thinking about this as any regular hunting trip.

Swanfrost moved forward once Willowpaw was out of sight, digging up the mouse. She looked it over once, head nodding in approval. It was a clean kill. She threw dirt back over it, jogging after Willowpaw to catch up. It seemed she was heading towards the Graveyards. She supposed that would be a good place, considering how isolated it was.

Willowpaw padded into the graveyard, taking a long look around and scenting the air. There were multiple prey she could go after, but she wanted to impress Swanfrost, and decided to hunt a rabbit that was eating some herbs near a headstone. Like she had done with the mouse, Willowpaw moved downwind of the rabbit and dropped into a crouch, stalking it.
The wind shifted directions, sending her scent towards the rabbit and causing it to flee. Willowpaw took chase, determined as she bolted after the creature, catching it with an unsheathed paw and biting down on it's throat.

Swanfrost grinned as Willowpaw took down the rabbit, almost calling out to congratulate her. She shifted so she was downwind once again, looking towards the rising sun. It was about halfway there now, and she silently encouraged Willowpaw to keep going. She didn't doubt that Willowpaw could double her amount in the time she had left, but she tried to remember not to set too high of standards. She had been close enough this time to see the damage inflicted on the rabbit, so she wouldn't need to inspect if afterwards.

Willowpaw scuffed earth over her rabbit and continued, her ears pricked. She doubted that Swanfrost would actually fail her, especially after the fighting part, but she felt the urge to strongly impress her friend.
A flash of brown pulled her from her thoughts, and Willowpaw pounced into a clump of grass, neatly killing a small vole. That wasn't too great, considering, and after quickly burying the creature, she began to go after a sparrow on the ground.

Swanfrost had to admit, she was impressed. She hadn't given her a lot of time, and yet she had already caught plenty. She looked at the sun once again, noticing how Willowpaw's time was almost up. It seemed that the sparrow she was going after would be her last hunt. Unburying the vile she checked it for a clean kill, covering it back up and stalking after her. She made sure to be extra quiet, since she would be surprise attacking her soon.

Birds weren't exactly Willowpaw's specialty, but she wanted to try anyways, since she didn't really have time to catch anything else. Dropping into a crouch, Willowpaw slithered forwards on nimble paws, knowing she had to be fast before the bird decided to take flight.
She jumped, and like all the other catches, killed it easily, just as the sun was beginning to rise.

Swanfrost watched with gleaming eyes, the fur on her spine prickling. She remembered to keep her paws sheathed, slithering forward silently. Willowpaw wouldn't be expecting it, and she didn't seem to notice her any time during her hunting either. Swanfrost lunged forward, aiming to land directly on her back. It she made it there without being warded off by Willowpaw, her paws were already moving to wrap around her neck, and her jaws were parting to bite down on her scruff.

Willowpaw was scuffing earth over her catch when a flash of white caught her eyes, and instinct took over. Unsheathing her claws, the grey she-cat let out a threatening snarl and whipped around to meet Swanfrost head-on, crouching and then leaping forwards, aiming to meet Swanfrost and overpower her, pinning her onto her back.

Swanfrost quickly recovered from the failed attack, crouching low in a defensive stance. Her eyes caught the gleam of claws and she straightened slightly. "Unsheathed, Willowpaw." She reminded her. She didn't need to return to camp with a bunch of wounds. When Willowpaw lunged Swanfrost quickly sidestepped, aiming a few jabs at her side.
