Swanfrost It wasn't Cherrypaw's fault that she hadn't talked to any of her friends in such a long while, she'd just been busy, or at least that's what she told herself. In truth, she was just lazy. Keeping up with relationships was difficult and Cherrypaw simply preferred being on her own. Sure, there were cats like Aloepaw and Thunderblaze, who she'd always care for, but.. Meh.
Cherrypaw found herself roaming FireClan territory a lot lately with no real purpose in mind. She wasn't hunting, because she didn't really enjoy hunting, she was just sight-seeing. New-leaf made everything pretty, even just the regular old plains that made up the territory.
A breeze picked up, and the bobtail detected a fresh cat scent, one she recognized. "Swanfrost?" She looked around.

Swanfrost dragged herself through the territory, the weight of two rabbits dragging her down. She was planning on heading back to the camp to dispose of them, though at the familiar scent of another cat she froze. Swanfrost dropped the prey, quickly burying them before beginning to run off. She didn't want company. Ever.
Swanfrost froze as her name was called, flattening her ears against her head with a silent hiss of annoyance. "Cherrypaw, hey." She forced her voice to sound friendly, though her posture made it obvious that she was rather tense at the whole confrontation. She hadn't seen her around for a long while, so naturally she assumed she was being avoided. She probably deserved it.

Cherrypaw frowned, tilting her head to the side. The last time she talked to Swanfrost, she'd seemed a bit stressed out over Thunderblaze, and she wondered if the tom had caused her friend to be in distress once again. Boy drama was so pointless, Cherrypaw wished that every cat could just be content with their lives.
"What's wrong?" Cherrypaw implored softly, taking a step closer to Swanfrost. Even if she didn't understand why her friend was upset, that didn't mean Cherrypaw didn't care about the feelings of others. "You look like you've been to hell and back."

Swanfrost inched away from her, shaking her pelt roughly, as if she could get rid of her feelings by throwing them away. "Nothings wrong." She tried to compose herself, sitting in a rather awkward manner
"How are you?" She questioned, trying to change the subject away from her. She didn't like talking about herself on a good day, and she didn't really have a lot of good days. She just wanted to disappear.

Swanfrost was lying, but being pushy never got any cat very far. "Oh, I guess I've been fine." Cherrypaw shrugged. Her life wasn't nearly as interesting as she'd pictured it when she was a kit, and she felt like she was missing out. Which was better than something terrible happening, but still.
"Have you seen Thunderblaze around? I haven't really, recently.." Cherrypaw asked, concern in her voice for her best friend. Well, maybe her best friend. If she and Thunderblaze weren't talking, were they really still best friends?

"Thunderblaze? Yeah, he was asking about you too." She blinked, not exactly wanting to get into their drama, if there was any. She assumed there was, naturally. "He said he hadn't seen you around for awhile. Are you avoiding him?" She asked bluntly. It seemed doubtful, considering she asked about him. Maybe they got into a fight?

"I haven't been very social lately." Cherrypaw admitted, looking down at her paws guiltily. If her flightiness had hurt any of her friends, then she doubted that she would be able to forgive herself. Thunderblaze had never shown her anything but kindness, and he deserved the same treatment.
She looked at Swanfrost closely, still not knowing what was going on with her. "Swanfrost, are we friends?" She asked suddenly.

"neither have I." She muttered, tail stilling behind her. She didn't exactly know Cherrypaw well, but she had a feeling the feline felt fairly guilty about losing connection with Thunderblaze. "Do you know if you like him?" She questioned. The last they had really talked about it, Cherrypaw said she didn't know.
Swanfrost was caught off guard by the question. "I don't know." She shrugged, narrowing her eyes. "Do you want to be?" Was this a trick question? Was it supposed to humiliate her? She wasn't sure what Cherrypaw wanted from her yet.

"I like him as a friend." She mewed quietly. Thunderblaze was wonderful, but they were just friends, and Cherrypaw had no desire to change their relationship. She could only hope that he felt the same way.
Unsurprised by how defensive Swanfrost was being, Cherrypaw kept her response even. "Well, yes. I've known you for quite a long time, I'd hope you like me enough to consider me a friend."

"I think you should tell him that." She advises her. She hadn't really talked to Thunderblaze about Cherrypaw, but the way he talked about her.... She was convinced he liked her.
"Oh." Swanfrost blinked. She didn't know what else to say. "Why do you ask though?" She questioned, her ears flicking up.

"I don't want to hurt him." Cherrypaw mumbled, licking her chest fur and avoiding Swanfrost's gaze. She wasn't as good at confrontation as Swanfrost was, and there was always the chance that feelings would develop if she gave it time.
"Well," Cherrypaw flicked her ear. "You're lying about being fine, and friends aren't supposed to lie to each other."

"You're leading him on." She pointed out with a low growl. "I bet that's gotta hurt for him." She stuck her nose up into the air. It wasn't fair to Thunderblaze.
Swanfrost scowled slightly. "Good thing I never said that we were friends." She grumbled, shifting her weight back and forth between her front paws. She didn't eat to tell anyone about it- not even Thunderblaze. He obviously had his own issues to worry about.

Cherrypaw just shrugged. She already felt bad, and she didn't think Swanfrost had any place to be judging her for her morals. "Are you saying that he likes me?" After all, Thunderblaze had never admitted his feelings for her, so Cherrypaw couldn't be leading him on if she didn't know how he felt.
"Why aren't we friends?" Cherrypaw pressed, not caring if she annoyed Swanfrost. Sometimes pushing was necessary, and Cherrypaw didn't want to give up on the she-cat.

Swanfrost opened her mouth to respond, though ended up shutting it again. Thunderblaze had never even told her directly, she had just assumed. It wasn't fair to spread possibly false rumours about him. "No, that's not what I'm saying." It wasn't exactly a direct answer.
"Because I said so." She spat, irritated. Despite her pressing urge to just leave Swanfrost sat down, not sure how long they would be talking. She had been out in the territory all day and her legs burned from exhaustion, so there was no use in straining them.

"Well, then I'm not leading him on." Cherrypaw concluded soundly. Now she only had to feel bad about not talking to Thunderblaze instead of breaking his heart. That was only slightly comforting, Cherrypaw thought.
She tilted her head to the side, wondering what had happened that was making Swanfrost so hostile. "Okay," Cherrypaw sat down, looking at the white she-cat warmly. "does that mean we're enemies?" She asked in a playful tone.
