Midnightpaw felt like she had to take a break. Being an apprentice was a lot harder than she thought it would be. Heading toward the Stone Forest, Midnightpaw didn't know what she would do there. She guessed she might as well check the border.
Approaching the border, Midnightpaw caught the scent of another cat. She didn't recognize the smell, so she slowly crept toward it. The scent seemed to be coming from inside a bush. Quickly bunching her hind legs, Midnightpaw sprang into the Bush with a loud hiss. "What are you doing here? This is TreeClan territory!"

Lottie was on the border of what she knew was clan territory when a cat jumped her from behind a bush. "No it's not. It's the border of Treeclan and Iceclan, so technically I shouldn't have an issue being here." she said, blinking her green eyes and tilting her head slightly. "I'm Charlotte, Lottie for short. I'm a loner. I take it you're from Treeclan, but what's your name?"

[Midnightfur]

Midnightpaw's pelt pricked with embarrassment, of coarse the she-cat was on the border. She wasn't TreeClan's problem. Turning around to leave Midnightpaw's ears pricked when the she-cat, Charlotte, began to speak. Looking back over her shoulder, Midnightpaw answered, "My name is Midnightpaw."

Lottie grinned. "Nice to meet you Midnightpaw. Paw, that makes you an apprentice, right?"

Turning back to face Charlotte, Midnightpaw's tail twitched. "How do you know that?" How could this loner possibly know about a Clan life. Was she a Clan cat before?

Lottie shrugged. "I tend to figure things out quickly, no matter what it is."

[Midnightfur]

Midnightpaw's claws sank into the ground. Charlotte was bigger than her, but Midnightpaw was training as a warrior. Could she take on this loner? The she-cat wasn't on TreeClan territory, so what did it matter? Taking a step back, Midnightpaw mewed, "What are you doing here anyway? Are you just passing through?"

Lottie shrugged. "I don't know really. I go where my subconscious takes me, and it took me here. I believe that if you just go along with fate's plans, they tend to go easier in you."

[Midnightfur]

What was that suppose to mean? Fate? If anything, fate was horrid to her in the beginning. The more Midnightpaw thought about it, she realized that things were beginning to turn out. But was it fate that she would lose almost everything? "Am I am sure that fate is all sweet to you?"

Lottie shrugged. "It definitely wasn't always nice to me. Nah, at first I tried to defy it and twice it destroyed my family. So now I listed it and it stops being mean."

[Midnightfur]

A shocked look crept onto Midnightpaw's face. Fate destroyed her family? "H-how did it destroy your f-family?"

Charlotte shrugged. "One way or another, but that's not the point. The point is that fate hasn't always been nice to me, but is when I listen."

[Midnightfur]

Midnightpaw's shoulder fur flattened out. Retracting her claws in, Midnightpaw sighed. "I'm sorry that I didn't really give the best greeting." The tip of her tail twitched, Midnightpaw wasn't sure if that was the best way to ask for forgiveness, but Midnightpaw couldn't find any more words. "Fate... Just isn't being to sweet for me."

Charlotte tilted her head. "But you reacted properly Midnightpaw. You saw a threat and you went to protect your clan. If anything, it was honorable."

[Midnightfur]

"Thanks." Midnightpaw was surprised that Charlotte would forgive her, let alone praised her. "That means a lot." Maybe fate was coming to the good side, but there is a lot more coming Midnightpaw's way. Battles. "Do you find many cats around. Like, ones you usually hang around with?"
