[Dovepaw]

Dovepaw considered his offer. She doubted that anyone would find out, and even if they did, the possibility of consequences didn't frighten her. "Okay." She mewed.

"Well, some basics. You've probably heard of this one before. It's some type of hunting crouch." He began, lowering his body to the ground. "You bring your stomach to the ground, but not too low, as you can loose balance. Also keep your tail straight out, so you don't topple over." He demonstrated as he spoke. "Keep your head level with your spine, and haunches closer together so you have more spring. Your muscles may strain, but that means your doing it right. Make sure not to put too much weight on your paws, and keep relaxed." Thor turned his head towards her, still crouching, signaling for her copy him.

That was quite a lot for Dovepaw to take in, though she did her best. Everything he said made sense to her, and she could picture what hunting must be like using those techniques. 

The gray apprentice dropped into a crouch, keeping her weight balanced and her tail slightly lifted above ground. Holding the position felt rather uncomfortable, especially as Dovepaw tried to 'relax' as Grayfang advised. "Is this okay?" Dovepaw mewed, a whine in her voice.

He chuckled a bit, "Good for a first try." Thor probably wasn't cut out for training others, but it wouldn't harm her to learn a bit. Her structure was pretty much perfect, just a position to get used to. "Try a couple more times; until you feel a bit more comfortable with the position. Then we can work on the pouncing." He said, demonstrating once more.

Thor felt rather guilty, as he was teaching Dovepaw everything her mentor should teach her. Hopefully it would at least speed up her training, and she could advance to a warrior quicker.

"Okay!" Dovepaw straightened and then arched her back, kneading her claws into the ground. She then dropped back into the crouch, taking a few steps and getting used to the odd feeling. It was weird, but it did feel much quieter and softer than normal stalking. "When can I try to catch some prey?"

"You could now, you're a quick learner. Remember this 'hunting crouch and pounce,' move is also a pretty simple and effective fighting technique." Thor looked around, the prey hidden from sight. "It depends on what you want to eat, as there's different techniques for different prey. You got anything in mind?"
