NataliaRot was simply lounging around in a sunny spot. Every once in a while, he would quickly lick his paw and run it over his face. His ears pricked up up when he noticed another cat nearby. Turning around to gaze at them, Rot snarled, "Are you just going to stare at me all day or are you going to say something?"

For once, Natalia was approached first and she wasn't in a tree. She looked over her shoulder to see... Well, she could clearly tell this was a new cat in Deathclan. She raised a fictional eyebrow. "... Well, aren't you an abrasive one..." She remarked. "Y'know... Bit hard to stare at someone when you're not even facing them."

The tip of Rot's ear twitched, but he did not want to show that he was embarrassed. "Sorry." He mewed hardly, not daring to show emotion. Deciding to change the subject and not to be too hard, Rot mewed, "How long have you been in DeathClan?"

Natalia shrugged. "Eh. It's been so long... I haven't really bothered to count. Been here since I was just a six moon old brat, though." She had never seen the point of counting the moons... So she couldn't give an exact number.

Flattening his ears, Rot realized that this cat seemed like an expert compared to him. "I bet you could just tell that I was new here." Rot murmured sourly.

Natalia shrugged. "Well, yes." She stated. "It's a skill that you learn when you stay in one place for a long time. You become familiar with the scents cats carry from certain neighboring areas as well as your own. So... Newcomers stick out like a sore thumb." She said, quirking her lip upward.

Forgetting to try and seem sour and mean, Rot looked up at the she-cat hopefully. "Do you think I will acquire that skill someday?"

Natalia was curious about the 180 in personality... However, gave none of it away in her expression. "Sure, kid. Cats tend to pick it up as they age, usually gaining the skill in full by the time they stop getting underestimating for being clearly not full-grown." She tilted her head. "... You know how to hunt, right?" She raised a paw before the kid could get a word out. "Just checking. We get a lot of orphans around here... And I've ran into a couple that apparently never got the chance to learn how to hunt." She grimaced. "Trust me kid, living off of trash and bugs is not how you want to live."

Carefully listening to the ginger she-cat, Rot totally forgot about his anger. This was one of the nicest cats he has ever met, or has he met others, but then never got the chance to listen? When the she-cat asked him if he knew how to hunt, Rot was about to say 'yes' until she held up her paw. As she continued, Rot's ears perked up when she said, 'I've ran into a couple that apparently never got the chance to learn,' Deeply interested, Rot asked, "Who were the cat's?"

Natalia thought about it. "... Saffron was one. She was making do with catching bugs before I took the time to teach her to hunt." She sighed. "Deathclan doesn't coddle the cats we take in. We don't leave them for dead before they get a chance to live." She said flatly. That was her opinion, at least. Then she grimaced. "There was this other kid... Not part of Deathclan... But in the right age group for most of the cats we take in. He was rummaging through trash..." She sighed.
"So... You do know how to hunt, right?"

Rot made a face at the thought of eating bugs. "Bleh! Who would want to eat bugs? It's a good thing you taught her how to hunt!" Still listening, Rot muttered, "About the same age as me then... That's sad."
"Yes, I know how to hunt." Rot meowed solemnly, "but it was hard, because I had to learn it alone."

Natalia's smile was faintly amused. "Yeah, it was a bit too pathetic looking." She shrugged. "Eh. She probably hadn't been on her own for too long. I imagine she'd be looking a bit more... Unhealthy if she'd been living off bugs for a while."
She merely inclined her head. "That's good." She faintly recalled a memory. "... I was taught. Not every cat has that luxury... So I suppose I try to offer it to the uneducated orphans that find their way here."

Rot flattened his ears in embarrassment, unsure if he was willing to ask his question. He didn't want to look weak and scared in front of this she-cat, though. "Do you mind if... You know..." He started awkwardly. Why did he sound so odd and embarrassed? Angry at himself, Rot quickly meowed harshly, "Do you mind if you can help me out with my hunting?"

Natalia looked at the young tom before him, who seemed to be almost physically pained at the idea of pushing down his pride and asking for help. She could relate. She hated the idea of being even slightly dependent on another... Though, then again... She was a full grown adult who'd been taking care of herself for a very long time.
She tilted her head and shrugged. "Sure. Can't make any promises my advice will be helpful... I'm not some master hunter. Know enough to get by without starving to death... But, I can try to help you." She said, her tone casual... Though, she was attempting not to sound like she thought Rot wasn't going to be teachable or something.

"T-thanks." Rot stammered, the tip of his tail twitching. Looking around, Rot soon asked, "Where should we go? To hunt."
