akpaw had found that being an apprentice was much better than a kit, but he had had trouble adjusting to the different training techniques. However, he had had a short territory tour, and was curious about a few of the landmarks.

He picked his way through the nests, looking for Midnightkit. When he found her, he padded up to her without hesitation. "Hey," he greeted with a smirk. "Wanna go exploring?"

Resting with her head on her paws, Midnightpaw was exhausted from the day's training. Exploring territory, hunting, and fighting techniques, Midnightpaw loved it! She was glad that she could actually go out of camp without being yelled at. Besides, helping her Clan made her feel great.
Still pondering about other things she does as an apprentice, Midnightpaw realized that Oakpaw was padding toward her. Oakpaw was one of Midnightpaw's greatest friends, well... One of the few she had. He was the best out of them, though. When Oakpaw asked her if she wanted to go exploring with him, her tiredness seemed to disappear. "Yes, of course! Where are we going to go?"

he slightest mischievous smile crossed Oakpaw's face, and he responded, "Well, in a territory tour with Squirrelbite, I saw this large stone tree that looked really cool."

"Really?!? That sounds amazing!" Midnightpaw purred, getting up out of her nest, Midnightpaw quickly gave herself a lousy groom. Looking back up at Oakpaw, Midnightpaw mewed, "Lead the way!"

akpaw smiled and padded at a brisk pace out of the apprentice den. He quickly headed for the camp entrance, before leaving the camp behind and nearly running into the forest. He laughed as he ran, and glanced back at Midnightpaw, "Keep up!"

Giving a small smile, Midnightpaw bolted, catching up with Oakpaw quickly. Glancing at him from the corner of her eye, Midnightpaw made sure not to run past him in case he made any sharp turns.

"The forest is beautiful, isn't it?" Midnightpaw mewed cheerfully as the pasted a patch of flowers.

akpaw nodded in return to her statement. "It is," but his home was better still. "This way," he said, taking a wide turn so that a large, stone tree could be seen coming up quickly.

Following Oakpaw around the corner, Midnightpaw asked, "Was your old home this pretty?"

akpaw smiled. "Yes," he admitted. "It was better, though. The stars seemed closer and brighter. The trees seemed alive, and the air always held the perfect perfume."

Midnightpaw could see Oakpaw's old home in her mind. The stars. That was the most special part. "That seems nice." Midnightpaw purred.

akpaw nodded with a smile and stopped in front of the large stones. "It was." There was one entrance, and it yawned darkly at them.

Smiling, Midnightpaw slowed to a stop beside Oakpaw. Her smile vanished as she gazed into dark caves. Staring into the darkness, Midnightpaw mewed, "Is this the place?"

akpaw answered, but it sounded hollow. "It is." Without hesitation, Oakpaw stepped through the cave opening, vanishing quickly into the darkness. He waited inside for Midnightpaw as his eyes adjusted to the darkness.

Midnightpaw instantly began to feel anxious as Oakpaw disappeared into the darkness. "Wait for me!" Midnightpaw meowed, quickly padded into the dark cave. "Have you been in here yet?"
