"That was my father. Who kept me around," Rot meowed, "Not my mother. She was waiting for the worst time to kick me out. Waited till I was sick, then kicked me out after my father died."

"When my father died or when I was kicked out?" Rot asked, unsure if he wanted to tell Analia, or whatever her name was.

Analia shook her head. "That wasn't a question I have a right to ask no matter which it was, I'm sorry," she said sincerely.

"It's okay, I guess." Muttered Rot, "It's something I don't usually talk about, but if you want to know, I could tell you."

Analia shook her head. "Memories like that don't need to be pulled up for a stranger."

Standing up, Rot shook off scraps of his dried bed and made his way outside. Sitting down gently, Rot began to groom himself. "What have you faced?" He meowed between licks.

Analia shrugged. "Those are stories for another time," she responded, "And there are a lot of them."

"A least you past them now." Muttered Rot, still grooming his messy fur. It was sometimes odd because he had to lick differently on each spot, because some spots were longer than the other while other spots were really short.

Analia tilted her head, not understanding what he said. "What?"

"The troubles," Rot meowed loudly, slightly irritated, "Aren't you past them now?"
