LokiSoul was in a mood, one where everything and everyone she saw was not good enough for her. She had been like this for a bit, ever since her most recent fight with a fox over a rabbit she had caught and very much didn't want to share. Her wounds stung a little, but she pushed that to the back of her mind, it didn't matter now. This was mainly because she had picked up another cats scent. The long strands of her fur swayed in the breeze as she followed the scent and found a tom-cat roaming, heading for his next destination. Soul grimaced and padded over to him. "Hey, cat. What are you doing so close to my place." She hissed, trying to rile him up. He looked like might be worth something to Soul, so she was trying to see what he was like. It didn't matter what he though of her, though, because Soul was a petty kind of cat who though she was higher than the rest.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki was... basically tired. He was worn out from this place. and nearly hated every part of it, especially the part where his brother no longer exsisted in it. It infuriated him, and nearly nothing did that. No one cared for him anymore, and he couldn't go to anyone for help. So he was, once again, alone in this world. This stupid, lonely world that just loved to take everything from him. His sister came first. His father was second, which was something he could live with. Then his mother. That was heart wrenching. And now his brother, which he considered was the last of his family, even though his sister didn't exactly die. She was here now, but Loki wouldn't go to her. He would never look weak in front of her.
He plotted on, his head still held high even though allhe felt like doing was throwing himself to the ground and staying there forever. When a cat approched him from his left side, in a place he could not see without turning, he nearly rolledd his eyes. But he certainly thought, Now is not the time, cat.
Loki turned in all his elegance and splendor, and looked down at the stranger with his piercing, green gaze. He put on a fake smile, and said quaintly, "My apologies. I did not know," then turned away again and continued walking. on his same route, as if nothing had stopped him.

Soul sniffed, lashing her plumy tail. Arrogant idiot. She muttered, before padding a few tail-lengths next to him as he walked on without looking at her again.
"So, what's wrong with you, Mr. I'msosuperior. The world ending in your no doubt perfect life your living?" She grumbled, feeling irritable, but also still sore from his previous reaction. She kept replaying it in her head, getting even more annoyed each time, and this fueled her growing anger and sadisticness. No one just casually walked away from her and got away with it.
Soul let out a small hiss, but bit down on it quickly, her dark blue eyes seeming to grow darker. Losing her temper was something she often did, and it would not help her now. Her goal was to figure him out, not scare him off. She shook her fur out, muttering a string of savage rants as she did so to calm herself.
"Where's your cohort at, eh? Don't you impossible cats always band together in families or something?" She asked, almost growling now. She waited for her reaction, ready for anything he might do.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki cast a glance at her without turning his head as she caught up with him, blabbering a question. He didn't answer it, but instead watched her. She seemed to have anger issues, and she was trying desprately to control them. From the way she tried to cover her hiss and shake out her pelt, he assumed she hadn't taken his comment very well.
At her next question, his eyes turned cold, though he hadn't made eye contact with her in their walk. In response, he nearly wanted to spit, my 'cohort' is dead, you emotionless worm, but he refrained. Instead, he answered, "What makes us so impossible?" His speech held no anger, but flowed calmly. If he could do anything, he could hide behind a mask.

Okay, so Soul was not ready for the indifference. She missed a step and nearly tripped in surprise, not bothering to try cover it up or get upset over it. She really didn't care.
She was seething under her fur. As if he didn't know how he was impossible. She muttered, claws now unsheathed and digging into the dirt. She flicked her tail, and bounded in front of the tom, meeting his cold eyes with her fiery blue ones.
"You seem to think of yourself as the king of all." She muttered, and then more words tumbled out. "Maybe you should know that it's not all about you and your precious high esteem and such. You're too ignorant and arrogant for your own good, and maybe you should change that. You might even get some friends and have a family."
Soul stared at him, tail lashing, eyes flaming. To be honest, he seemed like a pretty good cat, it was just his attitude sent Soul over the edge. She is so not good with that kind of personality, even though hers is horrible.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki watched calmly as she bounced up in front of him, stopping to meet his eyes. He stopped in his steps, staring at her with a nearly blank expression. It was quite obvious she'd like to claw his face, but he'd barely done anything, really. He was reminded of Rot when she continued talking. He had indeed barely done anything, and yet she had gotten so riled up that she had become blind.
A small smile found Loki's lips. "Oh, it's quite obvious you know nothing about me. Don't pretend you know my past, or who I am, because you don't. Your idle guesses are completely false, and you stand behind a spongy wall. Assumptions never help you get anywhere. Assess before speaking. Examine to make sure you're correct. At the moment, I could say that you are a cat of whom can be annoyed quite easily. Anger comes natural to you, and you throw insults only because you're not sure what else to say. You think I'm arrogant only because I'd rather not tell you why I'm acting strangely. However, you didn't know I was acting odd, because you did not take the time to examine. You simply threw your words out there and hoped they were true."
Internally, he'd been slightly hurt by her words, even though he knew they weren't true. He'd never been both ignorant nor arrogant his whole life. He'd always assess situations so thoroughly that being ignorant was practically impossible, and arrogance was for his... brother. Loki internally sighed, his brother. Nothing had ever hurt as much as the thought that they'd never see each other again.
Then he went on assessing the rest of her words. He had had friends, though they weren't good ones. A long time ago, he'd had his brother's friends. They constantly teased him, though, and they never hung out with him unless Thor was there. Loki never really considered them friends. Then there was Squirrelbite, who'd simply left to chase her own ambitions. Loki had no idea what happened to her. There was also Sky, who he somewhat considered a friend, though it was hard to tell. Loki was one of those cats that didn't really have friends. Sure, he had tons of acquaintances, but it was hard to call anyone a friend.
Then there was her family comment. The only reason he didn't have a family was because they were all dead, and he never wanted a mate. He could never believe himself if he loved someone, and someone loved him. He couldn't imagine what it would be like to have kits. A shutter went down this spine. That wasn't the life for him.

Soul let out a long breath. Great, so now he's annoyed. Way to go, Soul. She took a slow step backwards, still looking the tom in the eyes. His almost blank expression was giving her shivers, no one had ever looked at her like that.
As he went on to meow calmly, smiling, talking about how she should jump to conclusions and that she didn't know anything about him, Soul realised that he was speaking nothing but the truth. She had been such an idiot.
He continued hurling the truth at her, his words feeling like slaps in the face. Wow, reality check. Soul's ears flattened, mostly in shame, but also in annoyance. She couldn't escape or get rid of her most inner emotions - like anger and annoyance etc. - and they tended to hinder her ability to connect with others. Sometimes, even herself infuriated Soul, but she took a few breaths to let it wash out, leaving herself feeling empty.
The tom was right, she didn't assess things, nor did she know anything about him or his past. It kind of intrigued her, but also made her feel stupid. This tom was really something.
After a moment to actually think about what she was going to say, she spoke. "Okay, I'm sorry. I did not realise that this was touchy subject, and that I was so stupid. I didn't mean to get angry, it just happened. It does a lot. To be honest, I just wanted to figure you out. You can do that just by examining a cat, but I can't. I prefer being told things, not being a creepy weirdo who just sits there and stares."
Soul mentally cursed herself, for calling him names again. Great, she couldn't do anything. With a grumble, Soul waited for him to react, probably with his blankness - which she was quite sure she never wanted to see again. The thought made her cringe, and she saw him shiver at his own thoughts. For some reason this was amusing to her, and she squished a smile. What on earth had he been thinking about?

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki listened to her next words. To his surprise, she was apologizing to him for her outbursts, and his eyebrows rose, even if it was only in the slightest. Then she went on to call him a crazy weirdo. He nearly laughed, but didn't. Insults did not affect him like they once did. He had been called many things, insane, deceitful, completely and totally mad, and so he had become immune to the words. He merely shrugged off her last sentence.
"You need to learn to control, if anger is a constant thing," Loki answered smoothly. Rage was mostly a constant thing to him, but he had learned to control it so well, that he could switch it on when he needed it, and turn it off when it wasn't the right time. His mask was so complex that nothing could get through without his consent. He had perfected controlling his emotions, or he nearly had. The only cat that could ever break his shield before was his brother. His brother, the only cat that ever believed in him. Thor had so much faith in Loki, maybe too much. Loki flicked his tail with a slightly irritable expression, but quickly wiped it from his face. He had to stop thinking about his brother.

"Control... How on earth do you do that!" She muttered, knowing he was right about the anger is a constant thing. Shaking out her fur, she was about to say something else to him, but there was split second where the slightest bit of irritation flashed on his face.
Soul stopped and flicked an ear. Was he irritated at her? Or was it something else? Should she ask? Hmm....
"Why are you irritated?" She meowed, taking a half pace back as she realised she'd been inching towards him as he'd spoken. Growling at herself for her actions, Soul wondered if she'd get an explanation or this tom would purely ignore her. She then realised no one had givin any names, and she didn't bother asking him for this. If he'd wanted to share that, he probably would have.
So instead she offered hers. "Soul." She muttered, very quietly that he prbably couldn't have heard unless he was paying attention.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki listened intently to everything she had to say, his ears flicking every once in a while, just to show he wasn't completely unaware of her words. He was about to answer her comments and questions when she suddenly said one, simple word. Soul. It took him a moment to register what she had to say, then another half a moment to figure out what it meant, and apply it. "Throwing your name out can be quite confusing. It took me a moment to know you'd given your name." He was half teasing, though it was subtle. "I am Loki, of Sunclan. It is called a different name where I come from."
He then went back to answer her other words. "Control comes with practice. Whenever you feel your anger arising, try something that will relax you, though it's not all about relaxing. Sometimes, you have to develop a mask." That was all he had to say about that, so he continued to her question. "I'm irritated at myself. Someone very dear to me died recently."

(sorry about late reply and length of post. It was unnecessarily)
When the tom told her that throwing her name out could be confusing, and that he hadn't realised that it was her name she had given. She thought she could hear a small amount of teasing in his words, but it was subtle so she wasn't sure.
"Sorry." she shrugged, and then her ears pricked up as he introduced himself as Loki of Sunclan. Hmm, Sunclan? Soul nodded, rolling with it.
She kinda thought if she asked anything about it he would say something super elaborate and stuff and she wouldn't be able to understand it.
Soul listened intently to the Loki as he told her about practicing her control. Oh... Yeah, I guess that would be a good thing to do... but that includes talking to cats... argh!
The silent mental war was pushed to the back of Souls mind as soon as he started suggesting relaxing, but not fully relaxing, instead creating a mask.
That perked her ears up and set a light to her eyes. Honestly, inside she was gleeful about the thought of wearing a mask like his, so complex and carefully crafted that nothing, absolutely nothing, would get through.
When he told her he was irritated at himself, Soul's first immediate thought was Can relate. Then as he continued and told her that his friend - that was dear to him - had died recently, she lowered her ears slightly in shame and a weird feeling of sorrow for Loki.
"Sorry." She meowed, this time it was sincere. A real apology. I can't imagine what he is going through right now, but I'm guessing it's not good at all. God, I'm such an idiot. And I wonder why cats don't want to talk with me or walk with me. It's cause I know nothing and can't even read between the lines to find the signs of stuff like this.
"I guess you'd be pretty messed about that, hey." She murmured, unsure what she was saying. "Was your friend from Sunclan like you were?" Soul asked, but the question was half-hearted. She didn't want him to talk about his dead friend. Shaking out her fur, she tried to think of something else to talk about. At least I got a name. She muttered, gazing at him unconsciously as her mind wandered.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki nodded and shrugged. "He was, and he was my brother." The dark tom turned his gaze toward the sky as if it didn't matter, but it did. It hurt deep inside, like a bee sting with a stinger you couldn't seem to get out of your skin. Except here, it was in his heart, like a piece had fallen out of it. Before, when he'd lost his brother, he hadn't cared. Now, however, it was completely different, and even though Loki didn't exactly know if Thor was dead or not, he couldn't shake the strange feeling inside of him. It was always said that brothers had a sort of connection, and that connection Loki once felt was gone, leaving an empty hole.
"We enjoyed many moments together, both good and bad. He had always grown up as an arrogant jerk, one I wouldn't want to be around, but now... I would give anything for that jerk to come back." A very small hint of a smile played on Loki's lips. He wasn't sure he would give everything for jerk Thor to return, but he would give everything for his brother back. It would be extremely exciting if it was the better Thor that returned.

(warm welcome back ^_^, and also WOW about the art. Whoever done that captured Loki, defs. C: suits.)
Soul carefully watched Loki, eyes narrowed, as he turned his face to the sky. He was making it as though it didn't matter, but Soul was guessing that it hurt him inside really bad. This was because from her own experience - of losing Strike and her whole family - that when people you love go, then they leave you with a feeling of emptiness and pain, and this results in real personality changes (like hers).
She listened to Loki tell her about Thor and how he had been arrogant. When he smiled a little, she frowned, wondering what he was thinking, but then shrugging it off. It didn't matter, her curiosity. Better to keep the guard in place or she might spill about Strike or something, and that would be horrible for her because she might break down and be all weak in front of this tom whom she didn't want to make him think she was weak. She found she thought he was pretty cool and... admired him? She didn't know.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY (( thank you! honestly, being gone... i now see i lost my touch for loki. -snaps fingers- COME BACK. YOU DONT SOUND LIKE LOKI ))
Loki brought his head to line with hers and a glimmer of something shown in his eye. Maybe it was simply the sun reflecting off tears, but it certainly didn't look like it. Loki knew how to wear his mask, but his tears were always something he couldn't hide. He hadn't actually shed a tear in a very, very long time, but many times he was right on the verge.
Now was not this time.
He flicked his ears in slight annoyance at himself, and his teeth clenched. He suddenly stood to his full height, intimidating it was. "I... don't have time..." he started, wondering what he was going to say. His mind was lost, and he needed to get it back together. Something was wrong with him.

((oh, no worries at all ^_^ Also Loki is perfect, definitely my favourite cat on this rp even though I don't own him. He is just so intriguing))
Soul frowned a little as she caught sight of a slight glimmer in Loki's eyes. Was he tearing up? Was he planning something? She narrowed her eyes, sort of shocked but also not quite. Something kept her from calling him out on it though. She respected his pride and so she wouldn't do anything stupid. Also he looked pretty much on the verge of losing it and she wasn't gonna push him.
Then he flicked his ears, annoyed, and she flinched back slightly. As he pulled himself up to his full height and clenched his jaws, Soul fluffed out her fur and sunk her claws into the dirt just in case. But it smoothed out slowly as he stuttered out a half sentence that made no sense. No time for what? She watched him struggle inside and took a half step back, freaking out. "Uh, are you okay?" She muttered the question, tail tip flicking in agitation. Was he gonna run? Was he gonna fight?
