Life had been strange. From the moment Loki had stepped back onto this rock of a land, he felt different. Sure, he was still the same trickster deep inside, but he didn't have the same feelings of wanting to see everyone die a horrible death. It was because of his father. His father, that he once thought was dead, came back to him, and died. But it wasn't the same... it wasn't the same. Loki padded cautiously aross the top of the canyon, Nigthingale in tow behind him. This world was dead to him, it was dead to her, and he could see it in her eyes. They were escaping, yet this was simply routine for him. For Nightingale, this was beyond her wildest dreams, and for some reason, it made him beyond happy inside. He was showing her something that would blow her mind, make her rethink all her thoughts, and certainly look at him in a different light... or a different darkness. Loki's mind temporarily wandered to other matters, the matters of his siblings. He hadn't seen Calista in ages, and he half supposed she was dead. She had so way of leaving this land, no magical powers that would allow her to do so. And Thor... Loki supposed he was off fighting some monster and saving the world without him. A panging memory fell into his thoughts, and his paw instinctively went to his throat and he stopped. Rubbing his neck for a small moment, his face turned to Nightingale's. "No time to stop. Come on," and he continued once more. Coming upon the magnificent tree outside of the canyon, Loki knew this was the place. This is where they would finally leave. He would remember this land, and everything that happened within it, though he was overly happy to be leaving. A great sigh escaped his muzzle, and his brilliantly green eyes turned once again to Nightingale. "This is it, are you ready?" He didn't know what she would be holding onto here, but he hoped she was ready to leave it behind. He had no idea how challenging it would be for her. He had no problem leaving it, this was not his home... No, his home was gone, though. Blown up, yaaay... How sad. © to Vel

Left, right, left, right. The Siamese was filled with dread, and while she tried to lie to herself that it was simply fear that she would fall, she knew it the heavy knowledge that any moment now she might turn around and race back to the lands she was born on. The commanding words she set herself filled her head. Left, right, left, right. Her paws padded forward, feeling like she was leaving her heart behind.
“This is it.”
The journey was anything but short, but to Nightingale it barely lasted a second. Time was racing away from her, slipping through her paws like water. Every second she had remaining here flew past, and she swivelled away from Loki to look back at the way they came, the adrenaline you feel before running filling her, and for a moment she thought that she was going to sprint away. Race through the only meadows she’d ever known, coursing back to the plains that she’d called home for the past year. But she didn’t. Her paws stayed, firmly planted on the ground.
“This is it,” she repeated, her heart thudding against her ribcage so quickly she could barely hear him. His voice was drowned out by her own blood in her ears.
“Are you ready?”
The words she was both dreading and waiting to hear. The words that signalled the end. The end of an era, the beginning of something new. Petrifying and exhilarating all at once.
For a split second, Nightingale’s mind flashed back to her family. The red-brick mansion that she grew up in, the extravagant garden where she’d learned to hunt, the shiny gold necklaces they were adorned with. She wondered if her parents were still there, if the rest of her siblings grew up the way they were supposed to, proud and beautiful. If only they could see her now. And you said I wouldn’t last a week.
And her eyes fell across the sky one more time, the last she’ll ever see of it. In this world, anyway. And then they fell against the horizon, the faint outline of trees she could barely make out miles upon miles away. Silence hung in the air. Not even a bird’s call dared disrupt it. And Nightingale finally realised that there was nothing left for her here. Which, to be perfectly honest, she’d realised a month or so ago. But Nightingale finally admitted to herself that there was nothing left. For anyone, really.
“I’m yours,” she finally answered, repeating herself from before. Her eyes left the sky to focus, exclusively, on Loki.

the SUN WILL SHINE ON US AGAIN HEY GUYS! SORRY ABOUT THE WAIT Like hail on a glass pane, the drumming of his feet was as relentless as it was loud. Each step of his aching paws on the dry, cracked earth echoed the tumultuous thudding of his heartbeat. His face, rigid with tension, belied his youthfulness, as he seemed to have aged a century in the past few minutes. It all was coming to him so...quickly. He had searched for his brother for weeks without any success, though he had not given up hope. The others pitied him. They tried to comfort him, to get him to forget, to move on. Though they didn't say it directly to him, he knew they thought it was impossible. After all, he was strangled in front of all of their very own eyes. But nothing was impossible with Loki. Thor thought back to a time long ago, on a sunny and thriving Asgard—a place that no longer existed. He and Loki were only children, having just been set on a path to discovering their full powers. Loki always was the trickster in the family, and he especially knew that Thor loved snakes. So when Thor was walking around in the gardens Loki transformed into a snake, and when Thor tried playing with him Loki turned back and yelled "It's me!" and bit him. Ever since then, Thor knew Loki was mischievous; he was the God of Mischief, after all. And the God of Mischief would never die the way he did, even back when they were faced with a threat that was far more large and dangerous than any of them could have imagined. He was alive, and Thor was sure of it. Now, as he raced past the territories of the old clans where he met the feisty kitty pet Jane, he felt ages older. A new power rumbled beneath his fur, and though he was desperate to feel it, to unleash it, he was far more desperate to find his brother. But wait—did he want to be found? He left for a reason, he faked it all for a reason, and so when he would meet Thor face to face again, after their many years of rivalry and jealousy, would he be glad to see Thor? Thor shook his head to rid the thought from his mind. He didn't care about the past with his brother, he didn't care about the future. All the warrior cared about was reuniting with him. So, anyone could best believe, that as soon as his nose tingled in recognition, and he smelled a scent that was all too familiar, he ran as fast as he could. He ran faster than before, as fast as lightning, even. Thunderous beats sounding with every step he took. His chest roared in doubt, throat itching in nervousness, mind clouding with anxiety. But Thor ignored every negative instinct he had and kept going, ready to accept whatever it was he would face when he got there. He was so focused that he hadn't even thought about the slightly-familiar feminine scent of the feline accompanying Loki, a cat he'd be surprised to see. The scents grew stronger, almost intertwining with each other, and because it was all coming so fast he didn't even know how to react. All he knew was that he would never forget this moment for as long as he lived, although he did have a couple more thousand years to think about it. (Sorry if this post is trash or doesn't make sense I haven't roleplayed in forever whoops)

It was all Loki could do to stand still when a thunder of pawsteps made his ears perk. They twitched lightly as a worried expression came over his face for a moment or two, and his eyes met Nightingale's doubtingly. They would expect company soon, and it sounded as if it might be one to fight. However, as the thunderous beats grew louder and nearer, a scent hit Loki's nose, a scent all too familiar. His head suddenly jerked up and his ears stood as high as they could, his eyes widening. Swishing his tail, he had no idea what to do. Run? Stay put? His brother was coming, running faster than the wind, and he was coming straight for his brother. Fear stole into his heart, what would his brother do to him? He was suppose to be dead. Once again, his paw instinctively rubbed at his neck. But when the muscular tom came into view. Loki did none of the things he thought he would do. Instead, he squinted at his brother, thoroughly scanning him before almost laughing to himself. "Brother," he said, his voice mischevious as it ever was. "What has become of you?"199 || goodness where did my writing skills go? © to Vel

From the way Loki’s eyes met Nightingale’s, to the thunderous pawsteps suddenly ringing through the air, it was blatantly obvious that something was wrong. Trouble, and it didn’t even bother to hide itself.
The new scent drifting through the wind was, while familiar, irritatingly impossible to place. But the reactions of Loki, who's head jerked up and ears stood tall, told her almost everything she needed to know.
The voice of Loki at the appearance of the grey tom, face rigid with tension, was nothing but a confirmation.
“Brother. What has become of you?”
She’s met the tom only once, and even then only briefly, when she was young and foolish and thought so highly of herself. And he was looking for Loki, who now stood beside her, almost laughing. A million unexplored questions streamed through her, but something between the adrenaline already racing through her and the answers Loki had surrendered hours ago kept them silent, buried within her.
Keeping silent, her eyes land on the tom, unwavering. Waiting for his response.

the SUN WILL SHINE ON US AGAIN FUSING Thor's pawsteps faltered as he neared his brother, the tom so astonished he didn't know what to say at the momet. He briefly looked over the she-cat next to him, a familiar feline who once refused to communicate with him. Before he would have been angered with her, but now he wouldn't blame her. He was just...tired of it all. Thor looked back at Loki, blinking once, twice. Three times--before finally saying something. "I can't believe you Loki." He sighed. "I can't believe you're alive! I saw you die. I mourned you. I cried for you." He shook his head in disbelief, disappoint in his younger brother shining in his eyes.

Loki's ear continued to flick as his brother slowly neared him. Taking another glance at Nightingale, he listened to what Thor had to respond with. An expression of disbelief crossed his face, and he put his next sentence very simply, "I'm honoured?" Suddenly, he dropped his facade and turned his body completely to Nightingale, meeting her eyes. He leaned his neck down slightly to look at her fully and completely, saying "We don't have much time. The gateway will open soon and will only stay open for a very short while. In that span, we must jump through."His brilliant eyes glanced back to his brother quickly, a glint of sorrow in them. He turned to walk toward the trunk of the tree, gesturing with his nose. "It will open here, and in about five seconds. Stand back." He stepped away quickly. An earsplitting pressure filled the air and a sense that something was trying to suck their hearts out through their mouths began to effect the trio. A blinding light exploded at the centre of the tree, and Loki shouted, "Now!" before looking quickly over his shoulder to meet Thor's eye. He turned. "Come with us brother. There is nothing left for us here. It will be a new beginning, a new life." With a sigh, he did not wait for a response. Quickly, he turned and dashed towards the tree, jumping straight into it and disappearing. 240 || i can make the thread now on effer as you guys respond to this © to Vel

Nightingale was never the spiritual type, not really the one to believe in anything out there, but as the universe literally split to open a portal her mind begins to acknowledge the possibility. The air exploded into a kaleidoscope of light, and the sound of her own heart thudding drowned out the words that Loki turned to call, before he raced forward and leapt straight into the light. Her stars in her blue eyes exploded with the sparkles the gateway made.
Dead. He’s dead. He has to be dead. He just ran into a explosion.
It takes Nightingale eight full counts to start breathing again.
Dead. And he wants me to go after him. Why is this happening. I didn’t want this to happen. This is not at all what I meant.
And it takes her four counts to blink, the light burning against her eyes. Rationality begins to return, in fragments, to her mind. And, when nothing made sense, she fell upon the only thing she had left; trust. Trust in herself, trust in Loki, trust that this wasn’t some stupid trick he was playing for her to jump to her death. Her trust in the universe. And though it had already shattered into a million sparkling pieces, the shard that remained within her was strong enough to take a deep breath.
She has to do it quick, acting upon this sudden burst of determination before it leaves her. Spinning around, she looks at Thor for a long second before she turns back, the light painting her silhouette white golden.
Two counts is all it takes her to bound across the grass and vault herself into the light.

the SUN WILL SHINE ON US AGAIN HEY GUYS! SORRY ABOUT THE WAIT Thor watched in confusion as everything unraveled before him so quickly, too quickly. A portal opened at the Great Tree standing before him, right in the middle of it. It was so bright and strong, that Thor had to dig his nails into the ground to keep from being sucked into it. He had a sense it was Loki's doing, and his brother's next words confirmed it. "Come with us brother. There is nothing left for us here. It will be a new beginning, a new life."Thor stared harshly at Loki, trying to figure him out. Trying to figure out whether or not he was lying and leading him to destruction, or telling the truth and leading them to a better life. Thor yelled over the loud roar of the wind, "If this is another one of your tricks Loki I swear to you--", but was cut off when Loki jumped into the tree, leaving not a trace behind. The warrior breathes laboriously from the weight of the world that was heavy on his shoulders, a weight that he wanted to be freed from. He noticed the feline standing near him hesistating, and after their eyes locked for a moment, she jumped into the portal after Loki. There was limited time to worry. To ponder about Loki's true reasoning for taking them from this world. And as much as he wanted to believe in his brother, he was scared. He was scared of the unknown, but he was also curious. Would it be a new beginning, a new life, like his brother promised? He wanted nothing more than to leave the worries of this world behind. And so, Thor cursed Loki under his breath, thinking that this better not be a trick, and jumped through the portal. And the three of them left this world of clans and kittypets behind, in search of something far better, far more glorious, than this world could have ever offered them.
