Congratulations! You've created your first account on VWW. Before getting into the nitty-gritty, we would simply like to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to read these essential threads! All of these words can get boring, we know, but they're important for getting you started on the right path.
So, now what? Well... it's all up to you. Virtual Warrior World has four original Clans set in an alternate universe: IceClan, FireClan, TreeClan, and RockClan. If you choose to make your character in one of these Clans, you have the opportunity to be born as a kit and retire as a seasoned elder... with all of your apprentice and warrior experiences in between. The pure-hearted spirits of cats go to CloudClan, where they join their ancestors in watching over the Clans. Alternatively, cats who have committed heinous crimes during their lives will go to Darkpool when they die.
Does Clan life appeal to you? Click the spoiler below this! You'll find information on joining the Clans below. If you feel that you aren't interested in that sort of life, skip ahead. There are opportunities for living outside of the four Clans - but keep in mind that you may not create your own Clan/other group! The task of leading a group is for staff alone.
Do you desire a different sort of life for your character? Well, you can become a rogue, loner, or kittypet. Rogues tend to be violent, and they usually live alone. They don't usually trust other cats. Loners are similar, but they're more friendly and are more likely to depend on others or beg Twolegs for food. They usually don't have a set home and will wander wherever their paws take them. If you're looking for more of a comfortable life, try being a kittypet instead! Kittypets are owned by Twolegs and rely on them for care. They are usually gentle cats, and don't tend to be very good at hunting or fighting - but this is not always the case. Think you'd be well-suited to one of these three choices? Just change your name to an appropriate one-part name (there are no name suffixes like -kit or -paw in these boards) and start roleplaying! You don't need to start off as a kit if you're one of these; you can begin as a full-fledged adult. Remember that your character may not venture outside of the three rogue/loner/kittypet boards without staff permission.
Perhaps you want a group for your character, but don't like the lifestyle of the Clans? There is another option. We have DeathClan, an organized yet violent group of rogues; it is not a true Clan, but takes on this name to mock the other four. Check the spoilers below for more information on this unique group..
That's just about it for all of the feline groups on VWW. However, we are also proud to offer another roleplaying opportunity! Do you want to have a canine character? Check out the information below!
With so many options, it might take you a little while to choose the life you want for your character. Take your time and don't rush it! Additionally, if you've read the site's rules and other guides but you still have questions, feel free to make a thread in the Help Board. The staff will be happy to assist you.
We hope you have fun roleplaying on VWW!

THE FOUR CLANS
Our four native Clans are:
IceClan, the cats of the mountains;
FireClan, the cats of the prairies;
TreeClan, the cats of the forest;
RockClan, the cats of the cliffs.
Each Clan will have periods of being open/closed, depending on how large they are. It is unlikely for all of them to be open at the same time. A Clan's status is posted as either "OPEN for joining" or "CLOSED for joining" in the board's description. Make sure you check that your desired Clan is open before you try to join it!
To join a Clan, change your account's Display Name to _____kit; there is information on how to do this in the account guide thread. Remember that your character's name has to be realistic! In other words, if you wouldn't expect to see the name in the actual Warriors books, you may want to check with staff... or choose a better name. Names aside, when you've changed your Display Name, you must find a mother for your character. There will be a "Get Your Mother" thread within the nursery of each Clan; post there with the code provided in the thread. There may be a Clan "Activity Check" thread to post in as well. Once you have posted in these, you are automatically accepted into the Clan!
A note on leaders, deputies, medicine cats, and queens: These are all staff positions! Unless you are contacted one day and offered a position on the staff team, your character can never be a leader/deputy/medicine cat/queen. We do assure you that roleplaying a normal character is just as fun, though.

Remember to check out any stickied threads in your new Clan as well.
After you've joined, you are free to roleplay within the Clan and nursery! (Reminder: No kit is allowed outside of its camp without first getting permission from a leader, deputy, medicine cat, or queen.) The more you post and interact with others, the sooner your character will reach apprentice age. See the thread in this board titled "Post Counts & Stars" for information about the number of posts it takes to reach the next rank. When your stars change to "Apprentice", you can post in the ceremony request thread in your Clan and ask for a mentor! Make sure you wait for your ceremony to be posted before roleplaying as an apprentice.
After you've trained with your mentor and completed any other Clan requirements for becoming a warrior, you may ask for your warrior ceremony when your stars say "Warrior". Your Clan's leader shall give you a name. While you can suggest a name to your leader, it is not polite to demand a name, or give yourself one!
Some time after becoming a warrior, your stars will change to say "Senior Warrior". Then, even later, your stars will change to "Elder", upon which you can ask for a retirement ceremony. Your character will then spend their days peacefully relaxing and telling stories to kittens.
It will take a long time, but eventually, your character's stars will indicate that they are a spirit. At this point, they may die. Whether they go to CloudClan or Darkpool is up to you. Permission to die before this time must be given by a staff member!
Perhaps you want a group for your character, but don't like the lifestyle of the Clans? There is another option. We have DeathClan, an organized yet violent group of rogues; it is not a true Clan, but takes on this name to mock the other four. Check the spoilers below for more information on this unique group..
DEATHCLAN
DeathClan is a dangerous (yet rewarding) group to be a part of. Its territory includes a pine forest as well as a swamp, making it one of the more diverse areas to roleplay in. DeathClan frequently causes trouble for the four main Clans, and its members tend to be very skilled fighters. If you want to join, you'll start as a "youngling" and will automatically be six moons old (there are no kittens in DeathClan). Over time, your character will grow to adulthood. There are no deputies, medicine cats, or queens... but there is a leader. Those who defy this cat's orders will be punished harshly. This may involve getting kicked out of DeathClan or even killed! So watch your step if you choose to join DeathClan's ranks.
While regular rogues don't have ranks, DeathClanners do. All cats in this group are known as "Peasants" until they make a name for themselves and gain the leader's trust. After this point, they become "Royalty", which are more respected. However, the leader still holds all the power.
There are only two threads you need to read in order to join this group. The first one is DeathClan's unique rules thread. After you've finished reading that one, just post in DeathClan's roster and you're in! Have fun roleplaying on the darker side of Virtual Warrior World.
That's just about it for all of the feline groups on VWW. However, we are also proud to offer another roleplaying opportunity! Do you want to have a canine character? Check out the information below!
WOLVES
The wolves of VWW roam freely, but stay away from the cats' land. You can choose to be a lone wolf... or join one of the packs made by other members! You can also start your own pack if you wish. It's all up to you.
Once you've changed your name, make sure you post in this thread to get wolf stars for your character. Then you're free to start roleplaying!
With so many options, it might take you a little while to choose the life you want for your character. Take your time and don't rush it! Additionally, if you've read the site's rules and other guides but you still have questions, feel free to make a thread in the Help Board. The staff will be happy to assist you.
