If Thistleclaw Became Leader
By Me
Chapter One: Bluefur Time Zone: Into The Wild
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneith the highrock for a clan meeting." Thistlestar yowled.
ThunderClan slowly limped beneith he rock, many came out of Spottedleafs den. The day before, Thistlestar had led ThunderClan into a battle with WindClan. The clan was brutally injured, and Thistlestar lost another life. They lost. Thistlestar seemed angry when they returned to camp, and Bluefur guessed he was about to take his anger out on this meeting.
But two kits stood beneith the highrock, and Bluefur made them out as Mistypaw and Mosspaw; her kits.
"From the defeat we took last night," Thistlestar told his clan,"ThunderClan needs more warriors. These two kits faught bravly in the battle last night. They are ready to become warriors."
Bluefur saw exitement in Mosspaws eyes, but in Mistypaw's she saw saddness. She's wishing that Stonepaw was with her. Bluefur thaught. Soon after Thistlestar returned from the highstones, Goosefeather offered to take Stonepaw out for a walk. He returned with Stonepaw in his jaws. He told them that RiverClan killed him, but he told Bluefur that he had drowned her first-born kit in the river, then made it look like he was attacked as revenge for Bluefur for putting her kits before her clan.
"Whitestorm, is Mistypaw ready to take on the duties of a warrior?" Thistlestar turned to look at the white warrior; who was his son and Mistypaws mentor.
"She is."
Thistlestar nodded his head, "Mistypaw, from this day you will be known as Mistyspirit. StarClan honors your loyalty and your strength, and we welcome you to become a warrior."
Mistyspirit licked her leaders shoulder and then sat next to her sister.
"Mosspaw, my apprentice, is ready to become a warrior. Mosspaw, from this day you will be known as Mossfur. StarClan honors your intelligence and your skill, and we welcome you to become a warrior."
"Mistyspirit! Mossfur! Mistyspirt! Mossfur!" the clan cheered. Just when the clan was about to part away, Thistlestar yowled for them to come back.
"From the defeat we took last night, we also need to put more apprentices in training. Sandkit, Ravenkit and Dustkit will take on apprentice names today." Thistlestar beckoned the kits to come beneith the highrock with his tail, exitement shined in all their eyes; even shy Ravenkits. Then Bluefur glanced at Graykit, and saw pure jealousy in his eyes. Don't worry, Graykit, it's almost your turn. she thaught.
"Sandkit, from this day, you will be Sandpaw. Bluefur, you are ready for an apprentice. You will be Sandpaws mentor."
"Dustkit, from this day until you become a warrior, you will be Dustpaw. Tigerclaw, you are ready for an apprentice. You will be Dustpaws mentor.
"Ravenkit, from this day until you become a warrior, you will be Ravenpaw. Spottedleaf, you are ready for an apprentice. you will be Ravenpaws mentor.
Bluefur was supprised that Thistlestar gave her an apprentice; as she knew that she wasn't Thistlestars favorite cat. She and the other new mentors touched noses with their apprentices.
Moons passed, and Thistlestar didn't lead the clan into blood and gory yet. One day, when Thistlestar, Bluefur, and Graypaw were patroling the borders, they came across a stray kittypet with ginger fur, hunting a mouse.
"Hmph." Thistlestar wasn't pleased, "Attack him, Graypaw. Show no mercy."
Graypaw nodded his head, "Yes Thistlestar." Graypaw snuck up on the kittypet, and pounced on him with his claw unsheathed. The kittypet turned and ran quickly, and Graypaw chased him. Bluefur expected the kit to run back to his twolegs, but he turned and faught. What is that child doing? she thaught.
Graypaw and the kittypet wrestled for a few minutes, and Graypaw looked like he was about to kill him. Bluefur stopped him.
"Graypaw, we do not need to kill to win battles." she said, then turned to the kittypet. "Hello, I am Bluefur. We saw you hunting on our-"
"Bluefur!" Thistlestar came running over, his eyes blazed with anger. "Your so soft! You-"
"It's alright, Thistlestar. I'll take it from here. I promise. Youcan take Graypaw and fnish patroling without me. I'l catch up with you."
Thistlestar hesitated, but eventually padded away with Graypaw.
"Anyway, I'm Bluefur. And we saw you hunting on our territory. Please stay away. You are a threat to our clan."
"But, it was just a mouse. Surely their is enough to go around. I'm no threat."
"But their isn't," she hissed,"the forest is shared by four clans; their's never enough to go around. You are a threat!"
"Alright. I didn't know that. I will not hunt here again."
When the kittypet was about to leave, Bluefur called him back. He's not like other kittypets. . .
"What, Bluefur?"
"Your not like other kittypets. You turned to fight when Graypaw, and, well, who know's what else you will acomplish, if you join ThunderClan; my clan."
The ginger kit gasped. "Re-really?! I would be honored!"
Bluefur nodded her head. "Then follow me."
Bluefur bolted through the forest as quickly as she could; just to be sure that this child was clan-cat material. She climbed trees and jumped the branches, swam across a stream, and the kittypet didn't give up.
"Were almost at the ThunderClan camp." Bluefur told the kittypet.
"The smell is so strong. We must be very close."
"That we are, young one. This is the entrance. Follow me."
Bluefur went through the fern tunnel. She paused only to see if the ginger kittypet was following, he was.
"Bluefur!" Thistlestar yowled. He had been waiting for her by the entrance. "Where have you be-" he paused when he saw the kittypet. "What's this? The kittypet Graypaw was fighting?"
"This kittypet has shown me strength. You said we need more warriors, so I brought you a cat willing to become a ThunderClan cat."
"But-"
"Are you going to reject a chance to make ThunderClan stronger?" the kittypet growled. Bluefur was supprised, and by the look on Thistlestar's face, so was he.
"Hmph. Fine, he can be a ThunderClan cat, but I wont like it."
Thistlestar jumped onto the highrock. "Come on, kit. Get up here."
The kittypet did what he said and climbed the highrock.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneith the highrock for a clan meeting." Thistlestar yowled.
When the cats finished gathering, Thistlestar began his announcement. "It is no question that ThunderClan needs more warriors, and Bluefur has found a cat who is willing to become an apprentice," the cats didn't look like they enjoyed having a kittypet in the clan, but they didn't dare interupt Thistlestar during his announcement, "From this day he will be known as Slugpaw." Thistlestar said Slugpaw scornfully; it was obvious that he hated the young cat. "Runningfoot, I hope you will turn this soft kittypet into a warrior we can be proud of."
Bluefur saw the tabby warrior touch noses with his apprentice. At last someone besides me doesn't mind Slugpaw.
Chapter Two: Slugpaw
Slugpaw did as Runningfoot told him and they touched noses. "Why don't you meet the other cats and explore the camp? I'd give you a tour myself, but I have to go on patrol. See you later." Runningfoot padded away to a group of cats.
"Hey! You!" Slugpaw saw a black cat running toward him.
"Hi! I'm Ravenpaw. Come on, I'll take you to meet the other apprentices." Ravenpaw bounded away and Slugpaw followed. A group of young apprentices was in a corner, that's where Ravenpaw led him.
"This is Sandpaw." Ravenpaw pointed at a pretty pale ginger she-cat.
"Hello." Sandpaw said, "I heard Thistlestar named you Slugpaw. What a cruel name!"
"Thanks." Slugpaw replied, "I'll try not to let it bother me."
Sandpaw nodded her head, but said nothing.
Then Ravenpaw spoke, "This is Graypaw." then Ravenpaw pointed to a gray tom, Slugpaw reconized the cat who had attacked him.
"Hello. I'm-"
"Don't come near me or I'll bite you!" Graypaw threatened.
"Don't listen to him," Sandpaw told him, "he's just a pile of fox-dung."
Graypaw let out one last hiss and padded toward a den. That must be where the apprentices sleep he thaught.
"See that tabby over there? That's Dustpaw. I wouldn't talk to him; he doesn't appreciate kittypets." Ravenpaw pointed at a sleeping tabby tom outside the apprentices den.
Dustpaw opened one eye to glance at Slugpaw,
then let out an exasperated sigh and went back to sleep.
"Ravenpaw!'' a tortoise-shell she-cat called from outside a den that smelled of herbs.
"That was Spottedleaf," Ravenpaw told Slugpaw, "she's my mentor. Probably wants me to go sort herbs. Maybe you could get Sandpaw to give you a tour of the camp."
Slugpaw nodded his head as Ravenpaw ran toward Spottedleaf. Then he walked toward Sandpaw.
"Um, Sandpaw?" he shyly said.
"Yes, Slugpaw?"
"Uh, will you show me 'round camp? Please?"
"Sure. Come on." Sandpaw padded off to an area full of dead animals, and Slugpaw followed.
The area was sweet smelling and made his mouth water.
"This is the fresh kill pile. This is the food that the warriors catch for us to eat. Have you ever tasted mouse?"
Slugpaw shook his head, "No, but I am hungry."
Sandpaw purred, "Well, usually your supposed to catch something for the clan before you take anything for yourself, but your new. So it should alright."
"Thank you." Slugpaw took a plump dormouse from the pile, and turned to Sandpaw, "We can share. cant we?"
"Of coarse we can." Sandpaw purred.
When they finished eating, Sandpaw continued to give Slugpaw the tour. She led him to a hollowed log last.
"This is the elders den. Elders are former warriors who are to old to fight anymore. I'll be an elder someday, and then I'll be allowed to yell at all the apprentices." Sandpaw purred chearfully.
''Sandpaw?" a cat with a voice that crackled with age said.
"Yes, Smallear?" Sandpaw politly replyed.
"Oh, I was just wondering who in StarClan was out there."
"Alright. Come on, Slugpaw." Sandpaw padded away.
"Sandpaw, what's a StarClan?" he asked.
Sandpaws whiskers twitched like that was the stupidest question she ever heard, "StarClan are our warrior ancestors who watch us beneith silverpelt."
"Silverpelt?"
"You know, that band of stars you see at night."
Slugpaw nodded his head and saw Ravenpaw washing himself outside the apprentices den.
"Bye, Sandpaw. Thanks for the tour."
"See ya." she replied.
Chapter Three: Runningfoot
Runningfoot was patiently waiting for his apprentice by the entrance of camp. He's late.
Eventually he saw his apprentice pad outside the apprentices den. Runningfoot beckoned him with his tail.
