Thorn

A small silver she-kit padded in slowly. She was mewling so much. There must have been something wrong! She was yowling now. In Moonkit's pad was a tiny thorn. But being a kit she thought it was a claw. She had it in all morning and everytime she padded on it, she was hurt."Can you help me?" she asked Fernpelt.

Fernpelt left Featherbreeze, who appeared to be sleeping, and headed over to Moonkit. Surely this kit couldn't help if the whole clan cared for her only for her healing talent?

"Just a thorn," Fernpelt mewed, calmly curling her lips away from her teeth and delicately placing her teeth around the thorn. Witha firm grip, she gave a strong tug and pulled it out.

"Run along now," she rasped, sounding much older than she really was, but feeling even older. The trauma had greatly affected her, though many medicine cats took it in all the time, not bothering them in the least.

Moonkit smiled and nodded. She ran outside but ran back in quickly and touched Fernpelt's shoulder affectionately with her muzzle. Then the small kit ran outside. She observed her paw. No more claw/thorn in her paw! " I'll be more careful now! Thanks again, Fernpelt!"she hollered towards the medicine cat den. Then she ran into the nursery.

Leafpaw passed Moonkit."Hello Fernpelt.I thought I might help gather herbs for you.Do you need any?"She asked nicely.She wanted to help Fernpelt.

Moonkit turned and ran straight back into the medicine den. "Me too! Me too!" she said. She ran in a circle around Leafpaw.

Leafpaw~ Leafpaw purred."hello Moonkit."She mewed.

Fernpelt gave the kit a startled glance. She did need herbs, tansy and oak leaf, and since leaf bare was right on their tails she rally should be gathering some. But where could seh get them without taking this kit too far from camp? She was almost an apprentice. Oh, yes, by the training hollow there was an oak tree and plenty of herbs. "Of course, Leafpaw, have you asked your mentor? Moonkit, we'll go ask your mother straight away," she mewed to them.

Leafpaw~ Leafpaw nodded."My mentor said yes."She mewed.

"Leopardfire said yes now lets go!" Moonkit said. She was so excited. She wanted to help very badly. she was jumping up and down with joy.

(Glergh, on our way out we'll have to pass through camp. I'll just see you, decide I'll need catmint, too, and go get the herbs, come back, treat you, blahdy blahdy blah.)

"Well then, if you're sure, we'll head out just right now. It shouldn't take long," she meowed, nudging Moonkit with her tail.

Leafpaw nodded.She followed fernpelt.She had a purr rumble deep inside her.

Moonkit trailed behi8nd but she was skipping like crazy! She was so happy. " I'm going to be an apprentice soon," she said to Leafpaw and Fernpelt.

[Fernpelt]

Fernpelt purred right back at her, "And a warrior soon after that! I'll have you fetching me voles day and night! Now, let's head over by the training hollow and ravine. Plenty of herbs there. And a quick detour to the kittypet territory, if you're up to it..." Fernpelt trailed off, heading into the woods.
