(This thread requires at least a 50 words post, since I want it to be literate, but let new guys join.)
It was beautiful, this time of year, at night, with the stars glowing in the sky and the heat of the ground keeping the air warm for just a little longer before the cool air of night set in. The golden, spotted she-cat sitting just outside of a rather large sturdy hole that made the nursery of TreeClan. Her piecing green eyes scanned the heavens above her as the stars danced in her eyes. Behind her in the den she could hear the rise and fall of the little kits she loved so much, even if next to all of them would never reach her size. She was huge. Heh. She thought, Better blood to the kits. She could heard their slow, steady breathing, their snores, and she loved them all. No matter how irritating they where when awake, listening to the sleep made it worth it all. She glanced back in the nursery to look at them all. They had said she was silly, for leaving her life as a warrior, but Leopardfire was happy where she was.

Berrykit, the new born gold she-kit, was laying awake. She was mesmerized by the peace of the night and chaos of the day. But what can be done? She was a kit, therefore was part of the chaos. She got up and walked closer to the queen. Her gold paws hit the ground lightly as the leaves blew past her with the breeze. The moon smiled as she got closer to her mother, the one that insured her safety in the nursery from birth. She had always admired the queens, and how they patiently dealed with kits and their never ending energy. She took a deep breath, she wanted to be an apprentice soon, and to make her mother proud. So she attempted acting like a warrior. Her muscles protesting as she tried to sit down quietly and look serious. Luckily her voice sounded a bit more professional. "Hello Leopardfire," she squeaked. Her blue eyes shining with youth and happiness. She was trying to keep quiet in attempt to let the others sleep. But her blood pounded in her veins as it begged for her to play. As her gold tail flicked waiting for her mother's reply.

Leopardfire smiled lightly at the sound of a kit approaching. They tried ever so hard to be silent as they moved, and yet they had such a hard time with it. They still tried. That was why she loved them so dearly. They always tried. "Hello, Berrykit" She purred, allowing her daughter to speak first. She was a sweet daughter, and would be a wonderful elder one day, full of stories to tell. "And what are you doing up this late?" She asked, turning from the sky just long enough to look at Berrykit with a faint smile on her face. it seemed she just never could escape kits, they where her life now, to bad to anyone who dared suggest otherwise.

Berrykit purred, she felt the glow of her mother's warmth wrap and protect her from the breeze. "I couldn't sleep, I felt like playing," she told her mother, she was still trying to act like a warrior. Somebody for her mother to be proud of, but it was hard when your paws were tingling under you, itching to play and make noise. "What are you doing up?" Berrykit asked innocently. Her blue eyes turned towards the moon, it was shining brightly, 4 more moons...4 more moons until she was apprenticed, she thought to herself. She couldn't help but start counting down the sun rises since she found out. She couldn't help but glance at the moon every night to check if it was full, not like the warriors told her anyway. The way the apprentice's boasted about how training was so great, and how gatherings were so big just made her impatient...

The large and mighty, cowed by the small and weak. That was her. She had never understood why some cats hated the little ones, thought they got in the way. Heh, older cats got in the way more than kits did. And kits at least had an excuse. "O, when you're an apprentice sleep is blissful." She chuckled, remembering when she had been an apprentice so long ago. She was so old her Senor Warrior mentor was an elder at this time. Dear Gentleheart. 'I'm just looking at the skys little one. Don't you love the moon and stars?"

Berrykit~ Berrykit nodded "I guess sleep would be good," she listened to the rest of her mother's answer "The moon tells me how much time pass by," she paused "So I guess I enjoy looking at it, and the stars are so pretty, then being so high reminds me that after I die I will be safe," she meowed. She hoped she could join the stars, she hoped she could shine the brightest, but she didn't want to die so soon. Death still sent fear through her body, and fear is something she doesn't want to have, even if the warriors say they have it to. "When do you think I can be an apprentice?" she asked, she was watching the moon go by for so long she forgot to count today, so she wasn't sure...
