The wind Academies;; Chapter two;
Wythern trouble
Zack straitened up as he finished getting White-claw into battle armor. Kiba had started readying her dragon before he and Kate so she was already done. They were in the tack room where the walls were lined with saddles and armor. Kate finished Scale-Wing's armor and sighed. It seemed the healer had really been worried about Scale-Wing armored to a perfection.
"Well, I'm ready now." said Kate hopping onto her dragon. For now she didn't need to lean in and grab the bar the rider's held to not fall off for they couldn't take off in the tack room. Kiba nodded and did the same, using her dragon's foot as a step stool. It didn't hurt the lizardy creature. Lastly Zack jumped on his own dragon like a person jumping a fence. Both girls shook their heads and laughed, "Show off!"
They all communicated through heads to their dragons, telling them to walk on. As the dragons walked out their wings unfolded and spread before they took off with a mighty beat. They rode in silence scanning for the enemies until the sun began to set. Then Kiba saw out of the corner of her eye a shape. No, this was not the classic western dragon but the eastern one (Chinese dragon). As she was about to open her mouth Sky-Prancer reported, "The wytherns."
Now wytherns were lesser than dragons in that they couldn't communicate, they were feisty and they kill anything on sight. They were used as cattle... dangerous cattle and also a signal of war. The rest of the team had already noticed them and were fighting them off through the sky together. Now Kiba was left alone to fight the wythern with Sky-Prancer. "Listen, Kiba, I need to drop you." the dragons' voice was laced with pain as the wythern bit her tail, "WHAT???!!!!" asked Kiba back panicked. But the dragon was already whirling, as it turned upside down Kiba fell off. she felt the dragon's body drop from under her and was completely frozen with fright. She knew, however, that she mustn't scream or the eastern dragon and it's rider would hear.
Sam looked down to find Kiba falling. "Kiba!" he breathed urging White-Claw downward at an amazing speed. They zoomed under Kiba about a hundred feet from the ground. She landed on her feet and her ankle was overcome with pain, no, she needed to sit and hope Zack and White-Claw would slow their alarming decent.
The dragon let its wings fill with air slowing them just in time for them not go "Splat" on the ground. Kiba breathed heavily as the three wytherns who were less agile than dragons splatted on the ground. Zack turned and hugged Kiba tight, she was by all means but blood his little sister. "Don't EVER let Sky-Prancer do that again." he said not letting go. Kiba hugged him just as tight and replied, "I'd let her do it again, she saved my life!"
Zack broke away and looked at the girl dumbfounded, "How?"
