Spottedpaw paced around restlessly in front of the apprentice's den, rolling her bright green eyes. I should been a warrior a long time ago!, the tortoiseshell apprentice kept telling herself. She had no one to talk to; most of her friends still hadn't became apprentices, or already were warriors. In fact, Spottedpaw didn't even want to talk to anyone anymore. All the agitated young she-cat wanted was to be left alone.

Sunpaw saw Spottedpaw pacing and muttering to herself. I wonder what's wrong with her? Sunpaw thought to herself.

Spottedpaw scented Sunpaw, and not wanting to explain what she was doing, kept pacing in front of the den. Then suddenly stopped and turned to Sunpaw. "Oh, hi, Sunpaw, um, you must be wondering what I'm doing.....", the tortoiseshell apprentice meowed quietly, her voice trailing off. "Well, uh, I have to go um, hunting, yeah. See you later!", Spottedpaw quickly meowed, and before any cat could question her, she dashed out of the camp.

As Spottedpaw padded through the forest, senses alert for prey, she wondered if Sunpaw would be angry at her. The tortoiseshell apprentice tried to put her mind off of the subject as she scented the air. She detected a vole a few tail-lengths away from her, and swiftly caught it. Spottedpaw walked back into camp with her prey and dropped in the fresh-kill pile. She nosed through it and tried to find some fresh-kill for herself. So, a few mice, two voles, three robins, and.....a sparrow!, the apprentice thought to herself. As she carried the sparrow, Spottedpaw padded up to Sunpaw. Dropping her fresh-kill, she meowed, "Sorry about earlier. Do you want to eat by the den?" Spottedpaw hoped Sunpaw wouldn't be mad at her.

Spottedpaw shook her head. "It was something stupid.", she meowed, lowering her head to take a bite out of the sparrow. As she munched on the bird she suddenly hoped that no cat besides Sunpaw had seen her pacing around and muttering. The whole Clan would think I've gone mad!, the tortoiseshell apprentice thought in her mind. Spottedpaw tried to calm herself, but she was still more alert and nervous than usual.

"Oh, foxdung." Dawnpaw said, as she walked up to the cats. "You took the last sparrow... Nevermind, I'll just have a robin." After a trip to the fresh kill pile, and a happy mouth of robin, she bounded back over to the cats. "Wassup?" Dawnpaw said, though her mouth of fresh kill.
