Koisplash looked at the collar. It looked like an ordinary tattered kittypet collar to her, but she could see how it contained memories for him.
"But how did you get here?" The question slipped from her muzzle before she could stop it. Her dappled fur prickled and she suddenly cast her gaze to her paws, knowing that was probably a personal question.

"Me and Coon got in a big fight..so I ran from him..and ended up in Treeclan's territory..I ran for a long time..I guess a runt kit hiding in some leaves is something Spiritstar couldn't resist..." Beechstar sighed, He could trust Koisplash..right?
"She took me in..hiding me from the clan at first..She thought I couldn't handle it..having everyone staring at me.."

Hearing Spiritstar's name reminded her of when she was a very young kit. She had never really known the leader when she had been in power, but knew more about her when she was an elder. That probably explains why Beechstar was chosen over Mintleaf... Koisplash thought. "So...she was your mentor?" she ventured curiously.

"Yeah..she was..Best leader in the forest..." Beechstar closed his eyes, trying not make his eyes soften from the sadness. He missed that white moody she-cat. They fought so much, but she was his friend. She was his leader, his mentor.

Koisplash sighed and placed her tail tip on his shoulder. "I have to say, I can't really remember when she was leader..." she murmured. "I was just a kit then. But I know she was great." It had been a very long time since Spiritstar; then back to her warrior name as Spiritstep, had passed away. But thinking of the white she-cat brought back plenty of old memories. "Do you think that was why..." Koisplash hesitated, knowing it was probably way too personal, but went on anyway. "...you were chosen over Mintleaf?" Her voice dropped to a whisper at those last words.

Beechstar's ears lowered. "I don't know. She never told me why she did pick me over Mintleaf. Maybe she saw potential in me..but I think it was something with Cloudclan. Right when I became a warrior, she gave me an apprentice. Like she was training me to get the things to become a leader. She even brought me to the Shiningrocks.." Beechstar felt her tail and opened his eyes slowly then gazing out at the entrance of the den.
"I would never train such a young cat for something this big but..she probably had her reasons."

Her moss green eyes were sympathetic. There was almost a visual picture in her mind of Spiritstar; a leader in her prime, and a younger Beechstar. Koisplash followed his gaze, brow furrowing slightly. "She must have thought you'd make a good leader," she murmured. "And she was right."

Beechstar smiled slightly. "Thanks Koisplash...Let's hope once I die..the kits will know me..and share good stories about Beechstar." Beechstar's smiled just hot bigger at the thought. Unlike Spiritstar, Beechstar wouldn't retire. He be leader until he grow old and die a leader.
"I don't miss being a warrior. I was so carefree and unorganized." Beechstar said simply and wrapped his tail around himself.

Koisplash chuckled. "Who could forget you, Beechstar?" Thinking of his lovesick admirers made it hard to suppress her laughter. "And I think we all were when we were warriors," she added, remembering when she was first a bouncy, ambitious young cat that had only been a warrior for a few moons. "Me...I was a lot more naive."

"Oh yes..I remember when you were like that.." Beechstar smirked, holding in the laughter. He remembered having to train Whiplash and Koisplash at the same time once, Koisplash's mentor had been busy. The warrior's back then were always so busy and trustworthy. The warriors today were all caught up in love and making drama.
"I always just think, if I were a regular warrior..I would be dead. Died in war.." Beechstar winced at remembering when he lost his first life, the Rockclan warrior had slit open his neck, making him suffocate. That was one of the things that were bad about being a leader, you had to die nine times. Feeling the pain..nine times.
Beechstar sighed deeply, looking at his feet. His legs had finally healed. Back to normal.

Koisplash rolled her eyes, but she was smiling. "Of course. And now, I don't think I've changed all that much as I'd like to have had from that." It had been more fun then, with hardly any love problems and everyone seemed to be friends... She frowned slightly at the mention of the war, and sighed. "You haven't lost any more lives then from that, at least..." Seeing his amber gaze on his paws, Koisplash winced slightly as she remembered his legs having been broken. At least they had healed well and were nearly back to normal. "If only time didn't change things so much," she muttered.

Beechstar yawned and rested his head on the ground, blinking his eyes sleepily. After a likely bit of streching his legs Beechstar curled up into a ball and closed his eyes, drifting into a light sleep. Beechstar needed naps like a small kit, if he didn't have them he would be ticked and snap at others, being rude.
Beechstar only dreamed of chasing a butterfly, something he could only do in his dreams..

Koisplash rested her head on top of her paws, wrapping her tail around herself. She didn't take naps, but it only took a few slow blinks to cause her to drift away into sleep. She dreamed of being a kit again, and batting around a moss ball. There were long-forgotten faces of other kits of her generation around, too, all playing and chattering and tussling and behaving like all kits did.

The nice dream suddeny changed into a nightmare.
"Hold him down and make him watch, Dog!" The large black and white cat demanded. The light brown tom nodded and pinned me down, he was so much bigger than me! I tried to squirm, but I could move..I'm to small...Dog flipped me over so I was laying on my belly, putting a unsheated paw on my head so I would keep my eyes open. I could see a rolling monster coming down the big, black path they were always on. The bigger cats pushed Mama out into the path..and she had no time to escape. "No!!" I cried out, eventually squirming a leg out and trying to reach for the limp, bloody body. "Mama!!" Some cats dragged her out of the path, and brought her to me. Dog let me go once they did. I used to trust Dog, but now he's nothing. I dug my face in her white fur, shaking in sadness. Willow and Oak were just sitting and glaring at the scene. How could they? I looked up and growled at them..but all they did was walk away. The black and white tom was now at my side, sighing. "See what you have done? Your a menace to our kind. Cats like you deserve to be servants. And you denied it. And now your mother is dead. You have no one left now..your siblings turned on you. You only have Coon now. And you hate him. Agree to be my slave and nothing else will happen..alright?" The tom grinned evilly and I shot him a glare that was sharper than twoleg's knives. "Never." I then got up and ran from him, he didn't seem to want to stop me. I ended up hiding in a box, just want to hide from everything. It was raining now, and Mama always told me to stay somewhere safe or I'll get sick...Something tipped the box over..but it wasn't windy today. There sat a soaking gray pelt...Coon. My eyes got big with confusion. "Coon? Why are you here?" Coon sighed, he looked down, not his usual happy self. "Your gonna be alright kid..Alright.."
Beechstar's eyes shot open, he was shaking. Beechstar screeched when a drop of water leaked on him. "Another leak?"

The moss ball rolled next to the foot of a warrior. She ran up to get it, and the warrior nudged the ball towards her. He opened his mouth to say something, but what came out was...screeching? Koisplash woke up with a start, finding that the source of the screech had actually been Beechstar. Then, a drop of water splashed onto her nose, and she winced and shook it off. She looked up at the den ceiling. Sure enough, some dirt had crumbled in it, revealing a hole big enough for drizzling rain to drip through. "Apparently," she said, just as another drop soaked her ear tip.
