FMA Proboards skin help and pointers~?

So, I'm making a Fullmetal alchemist roleplay site that is a MAJOR WORK IN PROGRESS.
Anyways, I'm having issues with my skin colours and whatnot.
I was planning on going with a gray theme, and black and white pictures, but now I'm thinking twoce about it.
I'm thinking its too bland and will just scare away people D:

So I was wondering if people who are familiar with the series could help me.
I want colours that compliments the series, so not bright pink and whatever.
I guess people who watch / read it would understand.
I really don't want to post the link here because like I said MAJOR WIP and it's sort of embarrasing, but I might via PM if it will help.

I also wouldn't mind if someone could give me pointers for images I could use (of course this is completely optional), and none with the original characters.

Anyways, I'd appreciate it if it was someone with ALOT of experience making quality skins.
