Highschool. Who didn't just hate it? I know I did, that was a fact. I hated going there, especially since the Homecoming Dance was arriving. The girls made sure they had some push-up bras, which was the latest fad for impressing guys these days. How pathetic, thinking their boobs could get a guy like that. Those motives only worked with perverted guys. Everyone with a brain would know that. But considering they lacked all knowledge, I decided not to inform them about that stuff. Only because I love watching them fuss over the silliest of things. It was like .. A child crying over a small scratch on the knee. See what I mean?
Anyways, we were watching a Social Studies video presentation on the Trail of Tears. And, with joy, I was handed an anonymous note folded from loose-leaf paper. I knew it was meant for me, considering that it had Piper written on the front. I wonder if anyone read it .. But I opened it up, finding the neatest creases done on paper. In a nice, formal calligraphy was a small letter. I peered at the paper, trying to read it in the small amount of light that was given in the classroom. It read;
Andrew. He was the most popular boy in the whole school. No doubt he has already been asked to go. But what could he want to do with me? I only cringed at the thought of asking to take me to the dance. I didn't really like him, and if I said yes, how would Adam react? I would be leaving him out, and I couldn't invite him to come with us at the dance, asking me was enough. But I told myself not to fret about things, considering that there was a five percent chance of him actually liking me. Besides, there was much better competition out there.
I looked over to see Andrew, and saw him smiling at me. He just winked with his charming blue eyes. And suddenly, I froze in horror. At just in time to save me, the bell rang, cutting into the video. I heard the teacher announce that the video would pick up tomorrow. But I wasn't very concerned about that, I already knew that.
I gathered my books quickly, and basically ran out the classroom so Andrew wouldn't be able to speak with me. I tried my best to appear invisible, which was impossible for a human like me. And just my luck, the tall boy stepped right in my way. And without looking, I bumped into his back. Falling on my butt, I looked up in terror when he looked down with a smile, holding out a hand to help me up. I reached out my arm, my fingers clasping into his palm. Grasping my hand, he helped me up without much effort. I squatted on the ground, picking up my things. Reaching for my scattered notebook that was by his foot, a familiar hand bent down to pick it up. My blue eyes grew wide. Adam.
