Reaching for my scattered notebook that was by his foot, a familiar hand bent down to pick it up. My blue eyes grew wide. Adam.
I look up to see a dark brown headed boy looking down at me, a cute smile on his lips. “Adam .. Thanks.” I said, a smile peaking out on my face just because I see my best friend. I got up, and gingerly snatched the notebook out his hand. “Hey, that's mine! Bad Piper, bad!” He said with a laugh, trying to grab the book back, but my arm just kept moving it away at the last second. “It says my name on it, idiot!” I said, smirking deviously. See, Adam and I, we have a difficult relationship. We're best friends, but fifty percent is basic hate. Weird, right?
He just kept his mouth shut, but he still smiled. I playfully punched his shoulder, before realizing that Andrew had been standing there the whole time. The popular boy looked like us like we were strange. And well, that was true. I mean, separate, we are average beings. But together, we are complete freaks that have issues. It was all true. Just when Andrew was about to say something, Adam cut him off, a death glare in blue eyes. “So, you pushed her down? What the hell, man?” I looked up at my friend, putting my hand on the side of his face, grabbing it lightly. “Adam, calm down. He didn't push me .. I wasn't looking, and I bumped into him. It was my fault.” He looked at me with a strange look, taking my hand off his face without much trouble. “You okay?” I just nodded, my mind clouded. “Y-yeah.”
Andrew smiled charmingly, looking right at me. He acted like Adam wasn't even there. And I could feel my friend's hands clench into angry fists. I just knew. “Piper, I'll see you after school, okay?” Without waiting for an answer, he walked out the classroom, leaving only the two of us. Other than that, the place was vacant; the teachers were out to lunch right now. Adam looked right a me, a scowl on his face. “What?! What do you planning on doing after school?!” He asked, outraged with narrowed blue eyes. I shook my head desperately, basically pleading to explain what happened. “During the presentation, Andrew gave me a note saying that after school he wanted to meet me on the yard .. I think he wants to take me to the dance ...” Adam scoffed, completely disgusted.
“You know what, Piper? Go with Mr. Pretty. I dare you.” His voice was angry, furious, even. He wasn't the boy that was here ten minutes ago. I tried to tell him I didn't like Andrew, but my friend was already headed out the door. “Ada—No! Don't leave ...” I said sadly, but he was already gone. And he was mad. At me. ... Why?
