Not just any rights. Sure, there's allot of different rights that are debatable, but what I'm interested in is right of religion.
I'm an atheist. I will willingly tell anyone who asks, or anyone who tells me I'll go to hell if I do that. Whatever "that" is. I want to know how you guys feel about people talking about religion, and saying bad things will happen to you by the power of God if I do a specific thing. Recently I went to a bar with Keishon. I was sitting there alone, he was playing pool with some male persons, and this older guy with a beard sat next to me, and started talking to me about religion, and about God, and Jesus, and yada, yada, yada. He listed the Seven Deadly Sins, the what gets to to heaven, what gets to to hell, this that and the other thing. Finally, I turned my seat around, looked him in the eye, and told him to go .. himself. We left after that. Now that wasn't the most respectful thing I'd ever done pertaining to religion. But usually, I'll put up with religious banter, I'll just roll my eyes, and be on my way. I respect other peoples' religions, even though I don't believe in God myself, and, because I do that, I don't think it right to diss me because I don't believe in God. We live in America, this is a free country, and I will believe in what I want to believe in. How do you guys feel about religious banter at public places?

Once, a group of people came to our door. My mom couldn't come to the door, and she asked me to open it, because apparently she was expecting someone. So I did, assuming she meant those people.
Turns out, they were preaching door-to-door. I politely said, "Sorry, I'm an atheist," and was about to bid them farewell and close the door when the nearest person slapped me hard across the face, yelled, "Sinner!" and ran. The others followed. I have a faint scar on my cheek from his fingernail even today.
Moral of the story: Respect other people's beliefs, whether they're atheist, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, or anything else. Don't punish them for their opinions.

Wow Birdy quite some story you got there. That really weird and I take your advise for if that would ever happen to me and I doubt it that I would come across something like that

That sounds so awful Birdshadow! I'm an Atheist though my families a bit Buddhist....
So, there's this hilarious comic book by Nina Paley (associated with Sita Sings the Blues) called Misinformation Wants to Be Free. It's rare so you might not have heard of it but it's hilarious. The reason I'm bringing this up is because there's a section about Atheists. There are two characters: Mimi and Eunice One's an Atheist and one's not. I think Mimi's the Atheist and like helmets and Eunice is the god believer.
Mimi: My helmet Eunice: My religion M&E: MAkes feel safe in this scary world.
M&E: Even that there's no proof that.... Eunice: God exists. Mimi: Helmets actually reduce injury.
*pointing at each other. M&E: You should.... Eunice: Convert. Mimi: Wear a Helmet
Hope you enjoyed that! It might be switched; MImi might be the god believer and Eunice might be the Atheist but I don't think so.

Lol, Snow, that's funny.
I'm an atheist—when my mom was a kid, her parents, and therefore her family, were strict Christians. She couldn't listen to the radio because there were "heathen" songs, she went to church every Sunday, Saturday , and Wednesday. Her father was the Pastor, which she found hard. She also grew up getting spanked (with a wooden paddle/spoon), for anything he did "wrong." Long story short, when she grew up, she became an atheist, maybe to escape the ties of Christianity and her childhood.
I'm an atheist, too. The thing I dislike the most about being a Christian is Hell. I DO NOT BELIVE IN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my opinion, Hell was just created to scare people into a certain belief. I respect that, but on the other hand I think it is very... well... wrong.
I think that if there is a God, he is fair. He is not going to send some random person off to eternal suffering for killing someone. He would give them a chance, maybe let him/her have another life so that they could repent their evil.
Maybe, all of the religions exist... maybe all of the Gods work together to keep Earth alive.... Honestly, anything is possible. I don't know, that's just me. XD

I personally do believe in God, but I don't worship him, to be honest, I don't even go to Church. I don't think I should bow down to him and tell him every thing I have done wrong in life, people make mistakes, and I usually refrain from religion in most conversations.
For some people, Religion is a very touchy subject. I don't think it is right at any point to dismiss a person because of their disbelief, but I don't think its quite right either for any atheist to deny a person because of that.
In public places, people want to know your religion because in some places people are VERY touchy about god and well, even obsessed I would say. I will pray every now and then but I am not one to go to church every day and tell my sins, what god wants that anyway. I do believe in science more then some dude making the earth, that really isn't logical. Just everything in the bible doesn't make sense in scientific terms.
I'm not wronging anyone in any way, just my point of view.

I just don't get it. Why does the world have to be so diverse because of religion? I mean, we're all human, right? I'm not atheist, I will tell you that up front, but I don't see the big deal. Every single human being on earth has something in common. They are all the same on the inside. (well, kinda) Everyone has the same parts in their body and things like that. It really doesn't matter what you believe in, as long as it's not something that makes you harm others. Like Birdy said, respect other people's beliefs.

See like Grackle said, how she believes in god but doesn't think he should tell God his every sin..Well, see my religon makes us.....but I grew up like that and I'm proud.I'm a Catholic and I have alot of friends who are athiests but want me to tell them about, as they call it "my god",so I do.I mean when someone tells me they are an athiest most Catholics would be horrified, but what I do is I pray for them.I know this might sound wierd, but I think Athiests are cool. It's cool how they think about Heaven. So like Snowfire said, I totally respect her and everyone elses opinion. And really why can't we all just like collide, we are gonna have to get used to it for when the impending zombie apocalypse comes!Right?

In my opinion, I don't care what anyone is. I just think that as long as we respect them, we will be fine.
