A Story?

[Maplepaw]

Maplekit padded into the elders den for a story. Something that would interest her. "Hello? Is anyone here? May I here a story?" she asked.

[[Gentleheart]]:

The old she-cat looked up, blinking sleep from her old green eyes, turned cloudy as her sight began to fail with age. Gentleheart stared at the small cat. "Eh? A story?" she purred softly. "Allright, I'll tell you a story, make yourself comfortable, this might be a while," she twitched her whiskers and yawned.

Maplekit looked at the elderly she-cat. She couldn't wait to here a story from such a wise cat. "Thank you." Maplekit sat down across from Gentleheart and waited for her to begin.

"Once, a long time ago, there was a brave warrior named Batclaw. He was a very brave warrior, and he had an apprentice named Robinpaw. The team of the warrior and apprentice were perfectly paired by their leader, and they became very successful. Batclaw and Robinpaw were sent on every battle patrol, and they always won in the end. But the deputy, Hillstep, became jealous of Batclaw and Robinpaw's success and popularity. He told the leader, Gordstar, that the two were planning to take over the Clan, to become Batstar and Robinwing, leader ad deputy. Fearing that his last life would be stolen by his best warriors, the leader began to plan to exile the cats. But that was not enough for Hillstep, he wanted the pair dead," Gentleheart paused her story for a moment.

Maplekit listened with interest and horror at the same time. "Then what did Gordstar do?" she asked. Hopefully he relized that the deputy was lying.

[Oakspirit]

"Gordstar told Hillstep to do as he wished," The old cat meowed. "But Hillstep knew he couldn't beat the pair in a fair fight, so he set a trap for them. He dug a pit, covering it with leaves and hiding it. He then went to find the mentor and apprentice, acting as if he needed them to fend off attackers. Batclaw and Robinpaw followed Hillstep as he lured them into the trap. Poor, noble Batclaw could not guess what was about to happen as he and his apprentice tumbled into the pit, unharmed but trapped. Hillstep laughed at them, leaving them there in a hole beyond the territory to starve to death or worse. ," Gentleheart paused her story again, waiting for any questions the apprentice might have.

"How sad. Those great skilled fighters were being cheated!" she gasped.

THe old cat nodded. "But two rogues, a brother and a sister, happened upon the pit with Batclaw and Robinpaw. Feeling sorry for the poor trapped cats, the pair pushed down a branch for them to climb out with. Hillstep had already returned to his Clan, so Batclaw and Robinpaw were angry. But they did not yet immediatly go back to their camp. They left the territory with the rogues, spending the night away from the Clans. That night, Robinpaw had a dream that CloudClan spoke to him, saying tthat in three days, the Clan leader would die. on that day, Hillstep would travel to the Crystal Pool alone to become the new leader. THe spirits told the apprentice that he and Batclaw were to attack the deputy and kill him, for he had abandoned the Warrior Code in his jealousy. Batclaw was destined to be the Clan leader. Robinpaw told Batclaw, and the pair traveled to the path to the Crystal Pool, accompanied by the rogues, who were called Bandit and Splash. As CloudClan had foretold, Hillstep was on his way to become Hillstar. The group attacked and killed the coward, he didn't stand a chance. Batclaw and Robinpaw then went to the Crystal Pool, and the rouge siblings insisted on joining them, they wished to join a Clan. Batclaw became Batstar that night, and CloudClan made Robinpaw a warrior, Robinleap. The rogues were also made warriors by CloudClan, Banditscratch and Splashtail. They returned to the clan, telling them that CloudClan had rejected Hillstar, and forced him to be a rogue, and had made Batstar leader. Batstar then introduced his apprentice as a warrior, and the two new additions to his Clan. The new leader then went on to make Robinleap his deputy. All that Hillstep feared had become true, and it was as CloudClan wished. The end," Gentleheart smiled at the apprentice, finishing her story.
