TreeClan We've Got Wood Too Much Wood Fernpaw's shoulder was on fire. It was sore and felt out of place. It hurt to put weight on it it so she walked with a limp. The silver she-cat had been chasing a rabbit. She hadn't seen the tree until it had rammed into her shoulder full force. "Ow. Ow. Ow." She hissed with each step. She snarled when her good foot was stubbed on a rock. "Mouse dung!" she spat.
Fernpaw's dar k green orbs watered in pain for a moment. Finally the medicine cat's den appeared before her. "Waspwing!" she called out, pain inflicting her voice, "Help me!" The pain was a little better but, it still hurt. Fernpaw thought that she might have a dislocated shoulder but, that wasn't for her to tell.

I glance up from my nest, eyes half open. I was finally getting sleep for the first time in almost two days. By the sound of the voice, and the size of this cat, I was expecting an apprentice. Oh, goody, correct. What this time? Splinter? Broken claw? Probably something pathetic like that.
I get up and stretch, an enormous yawn escaping my jaws. "What is it, apprentice?" I looked at how the dappled she-cat's shoulder seemed to taken carefully and lightly. "What in Cloudclan's name did you do to yourself?" I snap, sniffing around at her shoulder. "Fall off a tree or something?"
By the looks of it, this was more than just a bump. This was probably dislocated, at least. Hopefully not broken.

"TreeClan. We've got wood," Fernpaw muttered sulkily. "I ran into a tree while chasing a rabbit. Don't worry. When I hit the tree I made sure that nobody in the neighboring clans would be catching any prey." The pain was making her taught and impatient. Tenderly, the apprentice sat down. "Can you help me?" The apprentice pleaded. Her eyes gleamed desperately.
A slight breeze ruffled her still thick fur. The sun was beating down on her pelt, making it shine. It was a nice day out, not that she would be enjoying it much. Fernpaw let an annoyed hiss slip out from under her breath. This day was just great.

"Hm...The fact that you managed to limp back to camp, and here, shows that it isn't broken. I think you just dislocated it. It's easy to fix, it'll just hurt a bit to do so." I pad a few tail lengths away and grab a stick. "Trust me, you'll want this to bite on while I put your shoulder back in place." I roll the stick at the dappled apprentice, and start preparing to relocate the shoulder.
"This will be fast, but you'll feel a little jolt of pain. After that I'll give you some poppy seeds, which will help ease the pain and make you sleepy. I highly suggest you stay away from training for the next couple of days. Perhaps this will be a perfect time to catch up on your den cleaning and story listening." I chuckle at the story part a little.

Fernpaw shot a relieved glance at the Med. cat and grabbed the stick. She clamped down hard. Fernpaw slowly lowered herself so she was on her side. She gave a small yelp of pain as she accidently jolted her shoulder. The dappled apprentice closed her eyes and pepared herself mentally.
The green eyes flashed open when Waspwing said 'story listening' she shot him a glare. Fernpaw then realized that he was probably right. "Hey," but, she was too nervous at the pain that might come to say much more.

I take in a quick breath, then gently placed a paw on her shoulder. "Sorry kiddo."
Pop
There it went, shoulder right back into place. Poor Fernpaw, I know exactly what she's going through. Except my pain had been much, much worse. When I had blocked that fox from attacking the loner. My leg had never been in more pain. I hadn't even known such pain was possible.
Thankfully the incident wasn't the reason I was a Medicine Cat. I would have been devastated if it was.

Fernpaw baley had time to tighten her grip on the stick when she heard Waspwing's words. Then she felt him move her shoulder back into place. For a second she felt a horrible pain that made her want to pass out. Fernpaw's vission went blank for a second. A muffled yowl came from behind the stick. Slowly the pain started to receed, a bit.
Fernpaw spat out the stick. "T-t-thanks," she panted. Fernpaw rolled her shoulder experimently, it worked just finr though, she did wince at the pain. "So those poppy seeds, huh?"

I was already walking away when she mentioned the poppy seeds. "You'll have them in a second. Also, just sleep in the Apprentices' Den. Harrowingpride is currently sick, and I don't want you sleeping in here for the next night or two. Can't have you catching whatever it is she has."
I hadn't even given Beechstar the news about Harrowingpride yet, and here I was telling an apprentice I hadn't met until now. Oh well.
Finally I placed a tiny leaf bundle of a few seeds in front of Fernpaw. "There you go. You can go ahead and go back to the Apprentices' Den. I have nothing else for you, unless you're sick and haven't told me yet."

Shakily, Fernpaw got up. "Thanks," she repeated. Her dappled head lowered gingerly to pick up the bundle. The scent made her think of a nice nap in a warm, comfortable nest. She watched as Waspwing walked away. 'Harrowingpride...' The news made her worry. She must be sick if she had to stay in there!
Fernpaw turned toward the apprentice's den thoughtfully. The kits needed Harrowingpride. Fernpaw slipped into her cozy nest and laid down. She mulled over the thoughts in her head until the poppy seeds started to take effect. Closing her eyes, Fernpaw sliped into a dreamless sleep.
