Thrushpaw, stifling a yawn, padded into the elders' den. Today was the day she would clean her last den. The light orange tabby apprentice was excited that she was almost a warrior at last. As soon as she finished her assessment, that would be the end of her training. Thrushpaw purred softly, looking around the den. Was Firelight around? She would be happy to have a chance to meet the retired FireClan cat. But for now, it was time to clean.
Thrushpaw clawed the old moss out of the nest. She rolled it into a ball, which she left near the den entrance to take away from camp later. The apprentice patted soft, fresh, dry moss into the nest. She had taken time earlier to collect the moss, making sure there were no thorns or stones. If the bedding wasn't perfect, she would lose her other ear. A few days ago, Thrushpaw had gotten into a fight with Leopardripple. The crazy old black she-cat had torn off Thrushpaw's left ear, and she still bore other scars from the battle as well...
She shook her head, snapping herself back to reality. The apprentice finished putting fresh moss into the nest. She then swept out the den with her tail, reminding herself to clean herself off in the stream later if there was time. It looked as if she would finish early, though. Thrushpaw straightened up and began to carry the old moss out of the den. She would have to take it far away, so that foxes wouldn't track the scent back to camp... [/color]
