(Only Beech and Lark are allowed in this post.) Hiddenflame had recently become a warrior at a young age. As he sat vigil the leader of Treeclan, Beechstar, had come to talk to his friend Larksong, but she had come back crying. He didn't want to cause her more pain in asking her what he had said now so he had went to the only other cat that knew, Beechstar himself.
After his vigil Hiddenflame had marched, more like limped, to Beechstar's den. He sat in front of it and called in a hushed voice, "Beechstar?" He was aloud to speak now for it was sunrise, but still he felt like he shouldn't be talking. It had always been that way for him, even as Hiddenkit and Hiddenpaw, it was just his personality.
Hiddenflame waited outside the den patiently for permission to enter to be given. At the moment he just felt like barging in there for whatever he had told Larksong had obviously upset her and he hated to see either of his friends upset. Hiddenflame didn't let it effect his politeness though, or let it show on his face; he was nearly still an apprentice so he had no right to go barging into the leader's den and demand to know what had happened the night before.

Beechstar was curled up in his nest, his eyes squeezed shut. He wanted to go to sleep and have a good dream. Not a nightmare. The last thing he wanted was a nightmare.
When he heard a voice, he just hid his face with his white paws. "If your name isn't Koisplash, Waspwing, Fernpelt or Feralbreak..go away.."

Hiddenflame frowned. "I'm not leaving Beechstar." Hiddenflame meowed. He needed clarification. He wouldn't leave until he got it. Hiddenflame began to lick the wound that was still on his leg. His lellow eyes still looked at the leader's den for any hint of movement. Beechstar might get mad, or demand that he leave, but Hiddenflame was stuborne and wouldn't leave untill he got the answers he wanted.

Beechstar's ginger pelt bristled. He didn't want to deal with a stubborn young cat. "Fine then! Come in before I shred your tail!" He dropped is paws and lifted his head, his striped tail lashing in anger. Great..

Hiddenflame didn't flinch at Beechstar's harsh tone. He walked into the leader's den and bowed his head in respect. His yellow orbs gazed at Beechstar's eyes. "I want to know exactly what you said to Larksong last night." He meowed in a somber tone. He wouldn't back down until he got the answer.

Beechstar stood up and stretched his legs. He unsheathed his claws and glared at his warrior. "It's family business. Not yours. The last thing I want is you trying to comfort her for it." He glanced down at Hiddenflame's legs. He can't run..
"You can go ask her yourself. I did nothing wrong."

Hiddenflame's eyes narrowed. "So you're saying that you don't want your daughter to be comforted by me? Why not? I have done nothing wrong." He meowed. His voice was on the verge of being a growl, but he kept it out of that tone. Hiddenflame noticed his leader glance at his legs and that Beechstar's claws were unsheathed. He wouldn't dare. Hiddenflame kept his claws sheathed as to not cause a fight, which he would be on the lower end of it.
Hiddenflame watched Beechstar's every move for it seemed he was ready to spring. Hiddenflame flicked one of his ears. "Whatever you said obviously made her upset and I don't want to bring it upon her again by asking her what happened, so I came to the only other cat that knew what went on that night, you." He meowed.

"Oh..you've done plenty wrong, Hiddenflame." Beechstar walked over to Hiddenflame's side and sat down next to the white tom. "Let me tell you a story."
"Once upon a time..a kit was born. He was treated badly. No one loved him. But then..he made friends. They comforted him when he was down..made him smile when he was going through the toughest of the tough. So he..loved. He loved his friends. The cat's eyes was soon clouded with love and emotions." The ginger leader stared up at the ceiling of his den, lost in the story.
"His friends were tortured and then killed. They were the only thing the lonely cat had. So it killed him as well. It killed his heart." Beechstar started digging his claws in the earth below him, but he still hadn't really gotten to his point.
"So this cat..he tried to do the same as his friends did. Comfort other cats. When he failed, he decided that if he wasn't enough, he would do the opposite. Hate. They banned the lonely cat and he ran. To start someone new. But it didn't matter. He was broken. Broken forever." His eyes shifted down to his claws.
"Larksong is hanging on by a claw. She doesn't need love..or comforting..because if she does receive it..she'll break and become the lonely cat." Beechstar placed his paw on Hiddenflame's shoulder.
"I know that all sounded like rubbish...but do you understand? She needs to go through this alone. She'll become stronger..and better for the clan. That's what she wants.."

Hiddenblaze listened quietly to the story. Was it made up or was it about a real cat that Beechstar once knew? He disliked what Beechstar was saying. "I'm sorry, but I believe that," He paused for a second. "You're wrong. You make it sound like Larksong is weak, she's not and she never will be. She may not need comforting or love, but you are not the one to decide that and neither am I ; she has to decide that for herself. She knows what she needs and nobody else." He mewed. Hiddenblaze raised his gaze to the roof of the den, but lowered it back down to Beechstar.
"I just want to know what happened." He meowed.

Dont look up just let them think.... Larksong had gone to the warrior den as Hiddenflame had urged her and Softspark to do, but he was taking so long! She'd followed his scent...but stopped when she realized it lead into Beechstar's den. Her eyes narrowed as she felt all her previous emotions begin to surface, but she quickly smothered them again. With a deep breath she padded into Beechstar's den, quiet as a shadow where She caught just the last bit of their conversation. She? She who? the black tabby cleared her throat, her dark orange eyes glittering with an unreadable expression. "What What happened?" She inquired, making sure to keep her voice at an even tone. There's no place else you'd rather be...

Hiddenflame heard the voice of Larksong, he didn't even have to turn to know it was her. What had she heard? Was she angry? There was something else that he couldn't identify in her voice. Was she hiding something? He pushed the thoughts from his head. He turned to look at her. He wanted to ask her what happened between her and Beechstar, but whatever it had been it had hurt her and he would feel bad if he made her relive that. He smiled at her. "Nothing I was just talking with Beechstar." He meowed. "I thought you would be sleeping, you seemed quite tired after the vigil."
Hiddenflame's soft yellow eyes were almost as unreadable as hers, if not more. Now that he saw her eyes he knew she was defiantly hiding an emotion of some sort, but which one he knew not.

Larksong shrugged "I'm not going to fall asleep before I know both my best friends are there too, -" You guys are all I have left... But of course she didn't say that outloud. Lark shuffled her white paws, her gaze flickering breifly to Beechstar's before snapping back to meet Hiddenflame's golden eyes. "Were you- a, talking about anything particular?" She asked, seeming slightly uncomfortable. Truth was that she wanted to be able to talk to Softspark and Hidden about what had happened, but maybe that's why he was talking with Beechstar. What else could they be talking about? She wondered.

Hiddenflame wondered if he should tell her what they were really talking about. "Nothing much." He meowed and tried to keep his voice steady. Except what made one of my best friends cry. He added silently. What was she thinking? He suddenly felt the urge to train. He hadn't battled with anybody since the attack to get their territory back. He felt like he needed to know if a battle arose at that moment he could fight with the wound on his leg. That wasn't what he was supposed to be thinking about though, so he pushed the thoughts away and focused back on the two cats that he was talking to now. With each question, a reason. What was her reason for asking the question she did now? Was she thinking about the night before?

Beechstar started to say something negative to Hiddenflame, but then Larksong entered his den. He never even looked at the she-cat, he just simply walked past her and headed for the entrance of his own den.
"You'll never make me tell you, Hiddenflame. Just ask her instead."
And after he spoke, he left.

Hiddenflame growled in annoyance, but it was quiet and barely audible. He was frowning at his own white paws. He wouldn't ask Larksong, if she wanted to tell him then she would, but he wouldn't force her. He looked up and smiled at her. "We should probable get out of his den." He meowed and padded after Beechstar. He stopped at the entrance though and turned back to Larksong. He waited for her. "I would like to see the inside of the warriors' den for the first time." He added.
Hiddenflame wondered what Softspark was doing at the moment. Was she sleeping? His yellow gaze looked across the to the den that was now his home untill he grew older and became a elder.
