"Sparrowfur is still here! She drops in sometimes... Maybe you'll see her. "
A faint smile danced and played upon her lips, lighting up her eyes. She crept forward, pawing at some underhanging cobweb, and sighing blissfully. It was good to have some company after all.

Shadowwing looked up at her, tilting his head. "I should hope so. Maybe I could help her with the kits or something... since you make them sound utterly terrible to listen to their mewling, it must be a real drag to have to live with them." He sat up and licked his fur back into place. "I like kits though."

"Well.. You have experience. You.. HAVE kits. I.. Thank the heavens.. Do not. "
Firelight cringed at the very prospect of having to sit in the nursery with bundles of fur crawling over her. She shuddered before returning her attention back to Shadowwing.

Shadowwing swiped a paw over his ear. "They're really not THAT bad. They're just... new to everything. It's only right they'd be curious." He looked back at his paws. "I think you might think differently, if you'd ever had your own."

"Oh, I'm sure"
Firelight's words dripped with sarcasm, and she shifted positions, stirring up puffs and clouds of silt in doing so. Mutteri g unhappily about kittens, she glanced back at Shadowwing, the light in her bright yellow eyes rekindling.

Shadowwing smiled at her, his blue eyes bright. "I remember when you were all small and clumsy. You were really quite adorable." He said teasingly, waving his tail back and forth behind him."Was I any good as a mentor, Firelight?"

Firelight's fur along her spine began to bristle, and she reached her paw out to lay it flat on his face.
"Sir Shadowwing, you were the best mentor any cat could wish for. You made me who I ... Er.. Was. A headstrong warrior. Not quite sure how much credit you wanna take for who I am now. "
She purred in amusement, rolling over to gaze at the roof of the den.

Shadowwing flicked her with his tail. "Who you are now? What do you mean?

"An anti-social, distrustful feline who hasn't the time of day for her closest friends. "
Firelight's reply was steady, and spoken without hesitation. She leveled herself to Shadowwing's height, and pursed her lip for good measure. Hadn't he noticed her change in attitudes lately? How odd.

Shadowwing layed his ears back, but smiled at her all the same. "I figure most of it, but thank your for putting up with me, Firelight."

"No. Thank you for putting up with me through those moons of hardship. You can admit I was a royal pain in the tail. Getting captured by twolegs, caught in a foxtrap.. Oh.. Those were the days.."
Firelight nodded her head, her eyes redeeming a nostalgic gloss, and she ran her tongue over her teeth.. When was her last meal.. She couldn't remember.

Shadowwing let out a purr. "But you still came back to me! So, for that, I thank you." Then suddenly a loud growl sounded from his stomach. He laughed nervously. "Wow, I forgot just how hungry I was."

Firelight giggled slightly, and a devious smile spread across her lips.
"Then we are in agreement. It's lunchtime. "
Rising to her paws, she arched her back in a brief stretch before glancing st Shadowwing.
"What'll it be? Rabbit, vole..? I think I'll take a rabbit myself."

Shadowwing stood up aswell, flicking the dirt of his tail. "I'll go with you. We could share something, or I'll just eat a mouse or whatever I find."

Firelight nodded, smiling to herself. The light almost blinded her as she stepped out of the den. It had been such a log time since she had actually milled among the warriors that resided there. She suddenly felt a queasy sensation, her tailtip twitching in anxiety. What was she doing? She should be back inside her haven!
