Maybe something's wrong... with me. • • •The depressing thought flashed through my mind. I felt like a stranger in my own home. I glanced around at the other apprentices. 'All with friends, crushes... somebody. I had no one.' The bitter realization crashed down on me, the thought I had been trying so hard to push away. I buried my pretty face in my clumsy paws, taking away the mask of happy ignorance. I didn't cry. The past moons, I'd cried enough to fill a river. Now I was like an unmovable boulder. A bulky, out of place boulder. It seemed like even among my best friends, I never understood everything. Like secrets were passed around over my head. I was the innocent, ignorant one of the bunch. The happy-go-lucky wittle kitty cat, skipping around like life was the best thing that had ever happened to her. I narrowed my eyes, my tiny face hardening. NOT. I began to think again. What if I had some sort of... mental problem. Like I couldn't think right... or understand anything. Because right now, it seemed like everyone treated me like a kit. A stupid, slobbering, kit. I curled my lip in disgust. Well they were about to get a nasty surprise. I blinked and looked up as I heard paw-steps approaching my huddled form. But who would want to look at a bulky boulder like me? [Please, 100+ words.]

Frailpaw looked around. She saw a cat all alone. The cat's head was in her paws. Frailpaw couldn't tell whether The cat was crying or not. The cat reminded her of herself a little bit Frailpaw was often alone. She didn't really have that many friends. She wasn't even sure if she had friends at all, now. She decided to go up to the cat. As she got closer, she realized that the cat wasn't crying at all. Why was this cat like this? "Hey," She said shyly, "I'm Frailpaw. Who are you?" She tilted her head slightly.

I hate formalities... • • •My shaggy fur lay draped around me like a concealing curtain as I raised my small head. I blinked, my pretty gray orbs winking like a star. I sighed, hating every moment of this cordial greeting. "Err--" I stuttered, biting my lip. It was odd that I was still awkward with these petty formalities. I felt like I bore more resemblance to a long-legged moose than to a cat, although I really wasn't doing myself justice. I cleared my throat. "Hey. I'm uhh..." I gulped, forgetting my name. "I'm Lilypaw." My words sounded forced, but my harmonic voice balanced it out. Sort of. I smiled crookedly at Frailpaw.

Frailpaw blinked. The gray cat didn't seem to like her greeting. she tilted her head. "Uh... nice to meet you." She said sweetly, but a little awkwardly. She noted that this cat was a little... odd. She had hesitated when she gave her name. She wasn't sure why, but it seemed as if she had forgotten her name. That usually meant that cats had a lot on their mind when they did that. Frailpaw saw the crooked smile from Lilypaw and took it as a nice gesture. "Umm... well... You seem to have a lot on your mind and I know you don't know me but..." She bit her lip. "Do you need to get it out? Sometimes it's easier to talk to someone you don't know." She smiled timidly.

Even if something's wrong... I don't tell nobody. • • •I smile, my golden face lighting up. "Nah, it's OK," I meow, hopefully in a cheery tone. My long, sweeping tail twitches. "Thanks, though." I relax, more myself once the greeting were over. "So, what've you been doing?" I ask casually, my stormy gaze trained solidly on the she-cat. I purr, the sound catching in my throat. I look her over; small, shy, and quiet. Kind of like me when I first became an apprentice. "Who do you hang out with?" The question is my simple way of saying, 'Hey, you wanna be friends?' I hope my message would go through, it would be good to know some other apprentices. I smile encouragingly.

Frailpaw tilted her head, but the apprentice seemed fine now. Not worried or nervous or sad or anything like that. She smiled glad that this cat was nice. "Uh..." Frailpaw thought about who she hung out with. She really didn't have a lot of friends. She had a couple of distant friends but not many true friends, "I don't have many true friends," She said finally. She wondered if this cat had many friends, "Do you want to be friends?" She asked skeptically. She wasn't quite sure what Lilypaw's reaction would be. After the weird greeting, it could go either way, but the way that Lilypaw had phrased it when she spoke, Frailpaw could've sworn Lilypaw wanted to be friends with her.

Mosspaw crept slowly into the apprentice den, tired from training. Two she-cats who looked about her age were chatting in the middle of the den "Oh, hello" mewed Mosspaw, eyes shining in a smile "my name is Mosspaw, who are you?" she loved to make new friends and she had never seen these two before.

Well, well, well. What do we have here? • • •My shaggy golden head whips around and I stare wide-eyed at the new-comer for a moment. I relax and smile, learning this introduction thing faster now that I am actually meeting new cats. "Hey," I mew simply. "I'm Lilypaw." My long white whiskers flick off a vicious-looking horsefly. "Uhh..." I feel like I should say something, but I trail off, uncertain. Smiling sheepishly, I tilt my pretty golden head warmly. My long, sweeping tail twitches and I bite my lip nervously.

Mosspaw laughed in a friendly and amusing manner "You seem kind of edgy". Her fluffy calico tail coiled around her paws as she tilted her head in mimic "are you a new apprentice?".

Frailpaw smiled as saw another apprentice. She didnt have many friends. "Hey," She said Kindly, "I'm Frailpaw. Nice to meet you Mosspaw." She looked at Lilypaw as Mosspaw asked her question. She was wondering the same thing. She also had other questions like who her mentor was, what she wanted her warrior name to be and stuff, but she just wanted to know this one at the moment. She tilted her head and looked from Mosspaw to Lilypaw waiting for Lilypaw to answer. She also wondered about Mosspaw. Was she new? Who was her emntor? Did she have any ideas for a wariror name? She just kept her mouth shut though, not wanting to interrupt.

Am I really that small? • • •I stare, wide-eyed, at Mosspaw. Without any warning, I tilt my shaggy head back and laugh, a sweet, harmonic sound. After half a minute, I stop, gasping for breath. "New?" I ask, still shaking with unsuppressed mirth, "Do I really look that small?" I grin widely, my pearly white fangs showing through my mouth. "Nah, I'm not new. I've been an apprentice..." I calculated on my paws, counting on my claws. "Since WAY before you were born. Moons." I flash a quick smile, my long fur blowing gently in the breeze. I could tell Frailpaw wanted to ask questions, so I answered one I thought she might want to know. "My mentor is Foxtwist." [100 words plus, please, Moss. X3]

Frailpaw nodded. She didn't know how Lilypaw knew what she was going to ask, but it was probably because people asked that question a lot. She turned to Mosspaw and asked what she, and probably Lilypaw, was thinking. "What about you?" She asked Mosspaw, "Are you new? Who's your mentor?" She tilted her head, looking at Lilypaw wondering if she was wondering the same thing. Probably not. She turned back to Mosspaw and waited for an answer. She remembered another question she wanted to ask. "What do you to want your warrior names to be? I think it's interesting to see what people think of themselves as." She smiled hoping she wasn't asking too many questions. It was just, once she got comfortable around her friends, she just liked to talk and talk and talk.

Aren't we all so creative...? • • •A ray of sunlight fell through a knot in the hollow log I use as a den, lighting up the top of my shaggy head like fire. I look up, almost blinded by the brilliance, and think, 'We'll need to patch that up so rain doesn't come through.' My stormy gray-blue orbs flash a glance as Mosspaw as I answer Frailpaw's questions. "I want my name to be Lilyhaze," I say quietly, my voice almost a whisper. "What about you, Frailpaw?" I inquire, my tiny golden head tilted slightly to one side. My delicate paws knead the hard-packed earth softly, and I smile encouragingly, glad to be done with introductions.

Frailpaw shrugged. "I dont really know. " She said, "I never really thought about me." She tilted her head, thinking intently. "Maybe..." She looked around. What would be a good name for her. "How about Frailpetal?" She shrugged again, "I could probably think of something better. I really, really like your name though." She smiled, "It fits you perfectly." Frailpaw turned to Mosspaw, "What about you? You still haven't told us what yours would be yet." She turned back to Lilypaw, "Anything else interesting going on?" She asked both Lilypaw and Mosspaw. She wondered what else was going on in their lives.

Life's such a bore... • • •My long whiskers twitch at Frailpaw's words. I smile, and say, "Frailpetal's nice." My sleek, well-groomed fur glows softly as I turn to look at Mosspaw expectantly. I glance at the den entrance as I hear the sweet melody of a songbird. My eyes narrow in contentment as I watch the hustle and bustle of camp, and a hoarse purr rises quietly in my fluffy chest. I turn back to the two other apprentices, my small paws shifting. "Nothing's going on in my life," I say, almost regretfully, my tabby head cocked cautiously. "What about you?" I flick my ears as a fly buzzes past.
