Onyx gritted his teeth in pain, forcing him to his paws and ignore the dull ache in his back. Sighing, Onyx turned to Foxpaw, and gently put his nose in her fur. "Fox, wake up. We have to talk." he mewed quietly, prodding her with a gentle paw.

[Foxpaw]

"Huh?" Fox opened her amber eyes and found herself staring at Onyx. She grunted and stood up slowly. "Alright." She said. She tilted her orange and white head to the side and asked him, "What is it?" Her eyes were full of curiosity. What does he want to tell me?

"Fox .. I have feelings for you..." Onyx blurted, blushing heatedly. "But... I have feeling for another she-paw." Onyx was pretty sure his sea-green eyes were warm towards the she-cat. "Yet... my feelings are stronger for the other she-cat." he meowed quietly.

[Foxpaw]

"Willowpaw." She said and looked away. "I have feelings for you too but......" She still didn't look at Onyxpaw, she kept her eyes on her white paws. "Of course you do." She finally said, "Of course you like the other she-cat more." She turned and stared at him, "I was going to tell you today, a little later today......" She blinked back tears, You're stronger than that. She told herself, Don't cry, it gets you nowhere in life.

"Onyx, I fell for you when you saved me when we were kits. Remember that?" She smiled a little, "From that tree." She had to look away now, she turned around, so all he would see was her back.

"Fox..." I say quietly, observing her position and choked up voice. I can tell she's about to cry, and I never wanted to make her cry. "It's okay.." I try to soothe, trying to calm her down by rubbing my tail against her back. "I never want to make you cry." I can feel tears in my eyes too, and just by doing that, I fear I have lost a good friend, and a crush.

"Please.." I plead, asking for forgiveness by trying to rub my head against hers and slip it under.

[Foxpaw]

"Don't." Foxpaw warned him, she whipped around to face him, her amber eyes wide. "Don't." She said again, more softly this time. She suddenly went through a mood change and anger replaced sadness. She glared at Onyx, her claws now unsheathed and trying to dig into the ground.

Onyx's eyes widened in hurt at first, then his eyes slitted in anger. "Oh I see how it is." I mumble, and I dash out of the apprentices' den, boiling with anger. She likes someone else, doesn't she? I think, tears streaming out of my eyes.

Fox raced after Onyx, What? What does he mean? Her anger had vanished. "Onyx! Stop Onyx!!" She yelled after him. She stopped running and buried her face in her paws, "Please....." She cried softly. What had I just done?

"Fox. Be quiet for a moment." I mew, my voice husky as a million thoughts race through my mind. Does she like like me? As in, we wanna be mates in the future? I think solemnly, and I turn around, touching my nose to Foxpaw's. "I hope we become mates when we're warriors." I mew quietly.

Fox blinked and looked up at Onyx, "I do too." She meowed softly.
