Featherpaw couldn't get her out of his head. Her prickly pelt. Her blue orbs. Her smile. She was like the angle of his life. He needed to see her again. Of course she slept next to him but he always got scared and nurvious around her. Looking into her nest he took a deep breath and whispered in her ear. "Mint may we have another talk alone while the sun still shines." He asked and then recoiled back into his best and waited. It was almost sunset and he wanted to share it with her.

"Where are we to go on this walk?" Asked Mintpaw her icy blue eyes opening from the corner of the den where she was curled up in a small ball. In the darkness her orbs were the only visible thing other then the slight tint of her dark gray patches. She couldn't help it and smiled at Feather paw showing white teeth.

Featherpaw smiled and sat next to her. "Well just to somewhere a little private so we can talk." He said with a smile. He got up and padded out of the den with a flick of his tail. He sat on a rock and waited.

Mintpaw hesitated for a moment then shrugged. Following Featherpaw she sat on the ground next to the rock he was perched on. Her spiky black and dark gray fur bright in the dimming sunlight. "So what up?" She asked trying to stop the awkward silence.

"Well to tell you the truth I couldn't get you out of my head. Your voice soothes me and your pelt just is so pretty." He said awkwardly and looked down at his paws. "Sorry if I make you feel weird. You can leave if you like. I get it." He said

Mintpaw's ears perked in surprise. "Really?" She asked blushing beneath her dark fur. Her ears flattened against her head in disbelief. She's never been called pretty before. More usually dismissed the she-cat casually or didn't even seem to know she existed.

"Yes. I men every word I said. I would never lie to you." He said looking up and into her icy blue eyes. "And that was one of the most serious things I ever told anyone. Mintpaw. I-I think I......" He trailed off before he continued. "I love you." He said in a soft voice Hoping she had heard.

Mintpaw was taken back. What would Breezepaw's response be to something like this. Oh no. Mintpaw longed for Breezepaw to be there, to tell her what to do, to whisper it in her ear in his voice which was so easy for her to trust. Or for him to be by her side and sneer a snide comment at the white tom who claimed he loved her. "Featherpaw." She said her voice stronger then she felt. Her icy blue orbs looked around wishing they could look into Breezepaw's darker pair of icy blue, but instead they were looking into soft green. Maybe soft green was all Mintpaw was ever going to get. Maybe witching for Breezepaw was simply a waste of time.

"I know I'm sorry. Ill leave you alone now. Nice knowing you Mintpaw." He said sadly and walked away and over to a rock on the other side of the camp. He walked behind it, curled up in a tight ball, and hid his head in his paws and tail. It's like Hail except worst. Mint was his age. He really thought he found the right girl but I guess he was wrong. Again

"No! Featherpaw! Wait! I'm sorry, my silence, it was just from shock." She said rushing for the tom. her eyes full of modest sincerity. "Really." She froze before licking his white ear. "Are you sure? Is it really love though?" She dared to ask. Icy blue eyes wide.

"What else would it be? I mean I know how lonely you were. I just want to be there for you." He said jerking his head away. "Mint I get it if you don't feel the same. I guess I rushed you into something you don't want. Maybe Breezepaw is meant to be yours. I'm just someone no one needs. No one wants." He said looking up at her then shoved his head back into his tail

"Featherpaw." Said Mintpaw in a calm voice. "I told Breezepaw I loved him and he said I didn't know what love is. Me and him just weren't meant to be." She froze, to take a deep breath. "And I'm glad you like me, nobody ever has."

He shook his head again. Without saying anything he licked her cheek then stood up. Well now he knew she sorta liked him. Now he just had to see what the future brought. "Mint if anything happens. If I end up going for another girl, but if I tell you first. Could we still be friends? I need you in my life Mint. Even if its just as a friend." He said

Mintpaw smiled and licked his cheek as well. "I'd love to be in your life as anything that fits what you need me to be." The apprentice frost for a second her tail curling in the air above her. "As a mate, or a friend. Either."
