Cheetahkit stumbled into the medicine cat clearing, once again. She'd been here once with a splinter, where Clovepetel, the nice medicine cat, helped her out. Her tail was dragging on the ground, dripping with blood. "Hello?" she mewled. "My tail is... I don't know, but it's hurt."

Forestbreak smiled. "Uh-oh. Don't worry about that, it looks like just a small cut. They can bleed quite a bit, you know." She purred reassuringly. "All you need are a few cobwebs and you're all set. Maybe a little bit of marigold to stop a possible infection, as well," the medicine cat added.
She began chewing the marigold into a poultice. As she did, she began making small talk with Cheetahpaw. "So, how did you hurt your tail? A thorn? A tussle with one of your friends?" She purred.

"Yes - me and Diamondkit were playing with the fur from the rabbit we shared. We tossed it in the air, bit it, pretending it was a RockClan warrior. When I thought I had it in front of me, I sank my teeth it it. Except it wasn't the fur- it was my tail! Diamondkit actually had the real fur, tearing it into pieces." Cheetahpaw chuckled.

"So, you bit your own tail." She stifled a giggle. "I hope you were finished with that rabbit, because playing with prey is frowned upon. And it's dangerous," she added jokingly, a small smile on her face. Forestbreak finished chewing the poultice, spat some onto her paw, and began applying it to Cheetahpaw's tail. "This will sting a little."
The medicine cat smeared the herbs onto the bite marks, pressing down on them slightly to staunch the flow of blood. "There you go," she mewed, and then began gathering a few cobwebs from a corner of the den.

"Thanks, and we did finish it." Cheetahpaw meowed. She leapt up and nuzzled Forestbreak respectfully. Then she vanished out of the den.

Forestbreak smiled at the kind gesture. Another day's work done. She retreated to her herb storage and continued sorting them.
