Brackenkit limped into the den. He had a long thorn driven into his leg. "It hurts!" he wailed. Blood was pulsing dangerously from the wound, and his actions drew the thorn deeper in.

Forestbreak sighed. "First of all, stop moving," she mewed. "Sit down and stay still." The kit moving around was only making it worse. The medicine cat moved toward the back of the den, grabbed a few herbs in her jaws, and hurried back to Brackenkit.
She began chewing marigold into a poultice. "Don't worry. No thorn is big enough to be hazardous to you. It'll just sting for a while." Bending over, she fastened her teeth around the base of the thorn and swiftly yanked it out. "Okay. I'm going to finish chewing this poultice, and then apply it and some cobwebs."

"Yeah, okay, fine, whatever. Just FIX IT!" Brackenkit growled.

Forestbreak pulled away. "What was that?" she growled, curling her lip. The medicine cat didn't take disrespect kindly, especially from a kit who seemed to think that he was above being tolerable to the cat who was responsible for healing him.
She narrowed her eyes to yellow slits. "Is that a bit of attitude I detect?" She pawed the poultice and cobwebs out of reach, leaning forward.

"Yeah, so what?" muttered Brackenkit. He was a bully so he didn't really respect anyone. "Just fix it, okay? I was in the middle of taunting Cheetahpaw for her weird spots. It's so funny, watching her slide her claws into the earth, especially knowing that if she lays a claw on me," he swiped his paw over the ground. "So just heal me."

Wow. What a miserable little scrap. Forestbreak rolled her eyes. "Cut the act, kid. If you don't stop being arrogant, I'm not going to heal you. You know, I don't have to heal you. I've got no real obligation. So stop being such a crabby little moron and get yourself in order," hissed the medicine cat.
She unsheathed her claws and hovered them over the herbs. "I'll give you one more chance. If you don't get more respectful real quick, towards both me and Cheetahpaw, these perfectly good herbs are getting shredded, and I'm going to make you leave the den."
