Vaporpaw limped into the den with a sigh. How did she get herself in another situation like this? She looked down at her paw, and shook her head to the sight of the large scratch on her front right paw. Ms. Forestbreak? Ms. Clovepetal? Can I see one of you for a sec? She called.

Forestbreak stood up, a few herbs still in her mouth. She spat them out and they fluttered down, coming to rest on the stone floor. The medicine cat smiled wearily and padded up to Vaporpaw.
"What seems to be the problem?" she asked quietly. She sat down again, folding her tail neatly over her crossed paws and giving her chest a quick lick. "Ah, hello, Vaporpaw. Nice to see you again, dear." Forestbreak smiled, flicking her white-striped tail.

Vaporpaw gave a small smile back to the medicine cat and lifted her paw. I may have gotten another cut on my paw and was wondering if you could take a look at it. She said, turning the paw so Forestbreak would be able to see it better. The cut was smaller than the last one she had treated, but still a cut from her paw to a little ways up the lower part of the foreleg.

Forestbreak nodded intently as she listened to Vaporpaw, and then flicked her ears. "Hm. I'll take a look at it," she said, tilting her head and crouching down to look at the injured paw. Sure enough, there was a cut on it. The medicine cat thought for a moment, then straightened up. "Okay. Fixing that up will be no problem. I'll just grab some herbs."
She hurried to the back of the den, selected some dock leaves, and began chewing a poultice with them. The dock would help keep away any possible infection, and since it wasn't bleeding profusely, there was very little rush to get the herbs on.

Vaporpaw gave a small smile. Thank you Ms. Forestbreak. I appreciate it. She said, and looked at the herbs the medicine cat was chewing up. Doesn't that taste disgusting? She wondered, and maid a little face at the herbs.

Forestbreak was used to the taste of herbs by now, after being a medicine cat for over fourteen moons. They didn't faze her, and were now as familiar to her as the taste of a mouse. She looked up at Vaporpaw, smiling and nodding, her crooked jaw working away at the herbs. Finally, she spat them out and wiped her mouth with a paw.
"All right," she said finally, and applied a small amount of the dock poultice to the apprentice's paw with her own paw, carefully smearing it over the wound. "Do you need cobwebs for that?"

Vaporpaw looked down at her paw, then back at Forestbreak with a small shake of her head. I don't think I need some. It should be alright, I'll take it easy on it. She said. Thank you for your help. Vaporpaw added with a smile.
