Kestrelwing stepped hesitantly into the elders' den. She looked around. It looked slightly messy. More importantly, it looked deserted, and she wasn't sure what to make of it. Was anybody ever in here? She swept a feather out of the den with her paw, half idly, half in frustration. She needed guidance.
Looking outside first, then back in the den, she confirmed that at least for now, it was empty. Was it because the hype of having new elders had died down? Was it because of the games? Or was it simply because the elders didn't want company. She turned her back to the entrance, deciding to clean up a little bit while she was there.

Moonpool had been speaking to a couple of warriors about some normal boarder gossip that came in from the last patrol. The orange tom usually lead most of the patrol so since he became elder he always seemed to ask the previous patrol as many possible questions he could. The younger warriors went to get something from the fresh-kill pile so Moonpool decided to grab a mouse and head back to his den. The small prey dangled from his jaw, swinging back and force as he walked. The tom stopped at the entrance of the den and pricked his ears up. Faint rustling was coming from the den, was someone inside?
"Hellow?" Her mumbled under his mouse as he entered the den and scanned around, seeing a young she-cat busy with a bit of moss and feathers.[/colour]

So many feathers you'd think it was a bird's nest! Hearing soft footsteps behind her, Kestrelwing jumped a little, turning around. Moonpool had scared her. "I'm sorry, I was just cleaning up a little," she said apologetically. "It's very quiet in here and I thought I'd come help." She dipped her head in respect.
She was kind of embarrassed now. Why had she thought this was a good idea, again? "Don't you get lonely in here, Moonpool?" she asked, still slightly nervous. "I'm sorry if the question offends you in any way, or if it's too personal. You don't have to answer."

Moonpool padded over and set his meal down in his nest, leaving it for later."That is very nice of you, not many people come by and decide to help clean up"He mewed with a small smile, she had no need to feel sorry for helping out. The old tom sniffed his mouse a few times before walking over to Kestrelwing.
"Lonely?" He reiterated cocking his head a tad, he flicked his torn ear and looked around...the elder's den was usually pretty bland.
"I do of course, Harrowingpride and Quickfox just recently decided to join the elder's den but even with them in addition to Rainfeather and Gentleheart.....The elder's den is usually empty or boring. Most of us tend to take napping to a whole new level" He explained rolling his eyes. His den-mates were not too exciting

She smiled a little. Moonpool wasn't angry with her. She nudged another bit of fluff toward the entrance absentmindedly. She stood straighter, keeping her distance from him, but not so much that he thought she was scared. The other elders were usually asleep, so he sat here all alone with nobody to talk to. What was she going to do when she was an elder? Her muscles felt stiff just thinking of it.
"Well, I'll make sure to come visit you regularly," she said, making up her mind to do so. Moonpool had been a respected warrior and as an elder, he should be respected just as much if not more.
"Did you know Tuftfeather and Cherryleaf?" she asked. "They've gone off somewhere to fight to the death with six others and we don't know whether they're still alive." Or not, she added silently. They all knew that both their clanmates were probably going to die. But as sad as that was to her, a complete stranger, it was so much worse for those who knew them. If Moonpool was affected by it somehow, she didn't want it to come up in conversation.

Moonpool let out a small smile and a rough purr, " I would love the company, do not trouble yourself with coming to visit me but if you have spare time I do not mind visitors at all" The tom walked over to a small patch of flat dirt and sat down and watched as Kestrelwing cleaned the den, feeling a tad odd watching her do all this work while he was not doing anything.
The orange tom flicked his ear as she mentioned the tributes, his heart set changing from cheerful to depressed. Moonpool had family and friends in every clan so even though he hoped Tuftfeather and Cherryleaf came home safely, that also means he is indirectly hoping the other cats would die. "I have heard, it is all anyone is talking about.. It is unfortunate but Cloudclan must have their reason even if it is grotesque" He mewed with flat ears, out of the whole clan besides maybe Waspwing, Moonpool found himself believing in Cloudclan's power strongly and trusted the spirits.
"If Tuftfeather does not return I will be very saddened, it will hurt poor Littlepool's heart" He bellowed with a sad tone, Tuftfeather was Moonpool's grandchild and if she was going to die his daughter's heart would be broken and the old tom could not stand if his kit was broken that badly.

Kestrelwing nodded sadly. CloudClan knew more than they did. Who knew, maybe by now Tuftfeather and Cherryleaf might have joined them. She felt bad for their families in particular. Surely, they would be heartbroken. But Tuftfeather and Cherryleaf had done TreeClan a great service, sacrificing themselves so the clan would be able to continue. Maybe they'd have a memorial for them in the near future.
Her thoughts towards CloudClan had changed. This was why Moonpool was an elder. He knew, and now she knew because of him, that CloudClan had a reason. She flicked her ears in slight discontent with the situation, then looked up at Moonpool. What could she do about it? She was just another warrior.
"I hope that at least one survives," she finally said. "I do not wish death on anycat, but if one cat can survive, then..." She felt terrible even saying that, but she couldn't help what she felt. She shook her fur slightly trying to shake off the terrible image of 7 dead cats, most innocent. "Anyway. Is there anything I can do while I'm here?"

Moonpool gave Kestrelwing a comforting lick on her ear, he would apologize for bringing up the situation if he had but he simply just let out a small sigh. "You have been a great help around here dear, I need something to ease the pain in my sore leg but I am overdue a trip to Waspwing so I'd rather bother him myself...."He mewed with a slight brush against her check in thanks brushing the topic of the sacrifices.
"You might as well take this old moss out if you plan on leaving soon"He commented flicking his head towards a pile of dry moss he had taken out of the nests himself and set them aside. The old tom somewhat felt a pang of sadness that Kestrelwing would have to leave soon seeing he had begun to feel lonesome and ency.
